Antler Ridge Getaway : The cabin is a true log cabin, located near the top of Laurel Ridge Mountain (3,000 elevation) in Blue Ridge, Georgia. The three bedrooms are spacious with queen beds (main level & upper level) in two and king bed (upper level) in the third. One of the full baths is located on the main level across from the queen bed bedroom and the other on the upper level between the master bedroom and the second queen bed bedroom. The Rec Room offers a new queen sleeper sofa with box spring mattress. The Getaway is on a no hunt/ no shoot mountain so wildlife abounds. The deer and wild turkey love to stop and watch as guests relax by the fire pit or on the decks.
The Getaway is on 2.5 plus acres, secluded and has mountain views of Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Unlike may cabins near the top of mountain, the Getaway has plenty of level land for children/pets/family to walk around, run and play with no sudden drop offs. It is not in a gated community, nor do you have close neighbors, yet you do not feel totally isolated. The Benton MacKaye Trail, which connects to the Appalachian Trail, is also a short walk from the cabin. A mountain stream is at the foot of our mountain and run along the Benton MacKaye Trail. Downtown Blue Ridge, with its wonderful shops and antiquing, is about 6 minutes away and features Blue Grass bands performing on the square throughout the year, carriage rides and a Farmers’ Market on Saturdays. Downtown Ellijay is about 10 minutes away.
We are Al and Sandy Powell. Here you see us with our 4 children. We love the outdoors whether it be the mountains or the beach, deep sea fishing or hiking. We are now working on building our third cabin!
Sandy & Al Powell, owners purchased this cabin in 2004
Thank you!! Very nice cabin! Perfect for a long weekend getaway. We enjoyed the hot tub and making a fire in the outside firepit. Roasted marshmallows-yum!! Played a lot of basketball. The kids really enjoyed the sports table in the downstairs rec room--especially the air hockey. We grilled out a lot and visited some good restaurants.
This is my first cabin rental and i must say that I really enjoyed myself. We rented the cabin for Valentines Day weekend and we had such a good time that we have decided to make this a yearly Valentine's Day weekend retreat. The cabin was beautiful and the mountain views were breathe taking.
Antler Ridge Getaway was perfect for our family of 8. The directions were easy to follow and the cabin had about everything that we needed. The property was clean and well maintained. The owners Sandy and Al were very helpful in providing answers to all of our questions and requests. I would recommend this site to our friends and relatives. The property is very close to many attractions in the Blue Ridge Ga area. We enjoyed the fire pit every night and it was incredible that the fire wood was provided. Smores, stories and songs were enjoyed by all. We all really hated to leave even the 3 year old wanted to go back to his "new" home! :) Thank you Sandy and Al and HomeAway.
Stayed with my wife and 2 boys and had a wonderful time. Cabin is big enough for 6 but would have been on top of each other. Owner did a fantastic job preparing us with multiple emails! Location is very senic and hiking was a blast. Cabin was well equipped with basics and pool table, Xbox, hot tub, DVD player kept us busy at night when we stayed in. Beds were comfortable and the extra pillows, blankets were wonderful.
A few items to be aware of, not negatives, just FYI's: road to cabin is steep and winding. Our mini van made it in low 1 but if weather was poor it might have been a challenge; cooking pans are a bit worn (not a big deal for me but my wife said a new nonstick set from Walmart would be a good idea); wood pile was full but fresh cut so starting and keeping a fire going was a difficult so bring lots of fire starters.
This is out of the owners contol but the town of blue ridge closes at 5 and that includes most restaurants. Only one was open after 7 (Chesters, food was great), and stores closed and opened at all different times.
Must do stuff with kids:consolidated gold mine, the Aska Park (hike the first bit of the approach trail to the AT) horseback riding at Blanche Manor was awesome.
Overall a great trip!
This is a great cabin for spending quality time together with family and friends. Lots to do here, and lots to see in the area. The owners provided tons of good information on area attractions. It's not totally secluded, but is still very private. Our stay was in the late fall, but I think it would be even better in the summer when we would have been better able to appreciate all the decks and porches.
We've stayed here several times and enjoy it more each time. Restful and relaxing. The cabin is very clean and has all the necessities: fully stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, cable and internet, grill, hot tub, and the list goes on. We see turkey, deer, and black bear. Town is very close for your shopping needs. Downtown Blue Ridge is enjoyable with all the quaint shops and restaurants. Another favorite of ours is Mercier's Orchards and Amicalola Falls. Can't wait to return!
The cabin was wonderful! My brothers and sister had a great time enjoying the mountains and spending time together.
We have made memories I well keep with me always. Thank you Sandy it has been a very pleasant experience. I would recommend this cabin to anyone.
