Choose to discover the hidden charms of the Cote d'Azur by staying at Segolene and Christophe's family home. Our XVIIIe century Bastide for which the legend says it belonged to Napoleon's surgeon is full of charm and history. It is secluded on the edge of a village, on a hill side, at the feet of the Mercantour National Park and 20 kms away from Nice, Monaco and all the beautiful beaches from the Riviera. Enjoy the beautiful surrounding nature, the stunning views on the mount Macaron and the mediterranean gardens (1 hectare) with its exotic flowers, palm trees, olive trees and cactus. Relax and enjoy the charm and the tranquility only disturbed by the birds in the morning, the frogs in the evening and the splashes in our beautiful and big swimming pool. From here, discover the medieval villages of Nice "arriere pays", trek or cycle in the mountains of the Mercantour, enjoy the warm and clear waters of the mediterranean see on the Riviera beaches or visit and spend the evening in the animated and beautiful "vieux Nice". There are so many paces to visit.
The house sleeps 12 people with 6 bedrooms, there are different areas with big tables outside to share a meal. You can also enjoy a barbecue and a pool bar. There is a vegetable garden and a few hen to provide for the brunch. The swimming pool is big so you can swim and play all together. You can also enjoy "une partie de boules" with a glass of pastis.
Some say it is the last lost paradise of the Cote d'Azur ... it is at least our paradise.. we leave you to discover and enjoy it.
We are a french couple but we lived in London for 14 years so we speak english. We still spend some time in London as Segolene is running a relocation company for the french expats going to London and Christophe is a part time pilot for British Airways. We have a 7 years old son Max, a cat born in Birmingham called George, a rabbit called Coquinette and quite a few hen all with a nice name. in 2009, we were not looking to come back to France from London but we came across this only house by luck and fell in love. We bought it straight away and then had to adapt our lives. We have no regret except maybe for Max who lost his perfect Londoner accent despite going to a bilingual school in Nice.
Segolene Chambon purchased this house in 2009
We just fell in love with the unique atmosphere. It is a lost paradise, totally secluded in a beautiful nature. The gardens with the palm trees, the bougainvillaea and other exotic flowers give a tropical feeling. The charm of the old house with the french style gardens send you back in history. It is just beautiful: calm and serenity.
You are also very close to Nice who is a vibrant and beautiful city, close to skiing, close to the beaches and the weather is great. You spend your life outside.
Character, charm and tranquility: the perfect place to rest. The surrounding nature and views are beautiful: totally lost 20 mns away from Nice, Monaco and the busy Riviera. Enjoy the gardens and the big swimming pool.
Our bastide is on the edge of a charming village at the feet of the Mercantour National Park and 20 mns away from Nice, Monaco and all the beautiful coast and beaches in between.
