Dryades villa is a two storey traditional stone house, the floor of which was built in 1930, extended in height in 1993 and was reconstructed. We have recently renovated the whole place. The total property of the villa covers 205 sqm and 1000 sqm of land.
The villa has perfect functionality in its premises, furniture and decoration includes traditional Cretan furniture, antiques, textiles, embroidery, handmade white linen with ‘’atrantedes’’ knitted by hand, all made by the ancestors of the owner and will take you back in time, giving you the feeling of luxury that you get when living in a mansion, full of authentic beautiful things to live with and enjoy.
The thick stone walls and tiles on the roof of the house, during the summer months, help to maintain the freshness inside, to such an extent so as to make the use of air condition unnecessary. However, if you need more freshness, you are provided with conventional fans for each bedroom. The house is suitable for all seasons, as it has central heating with radiators and modern fireplace. You will definitely be fascinated by the wild beauty of winter nature of the village and by the smell of burning fireplaces.
In the outdor area there are lounges to relax all day long and dining tables, in every beautiful corner of the house, in the barbecue, in the courtyard of the kitchen and in the terrace above the pool area.
The house has two large patios, in one of which there is a built oven, barbecue (BBQ) with a dining table and a lounge with retractable awning over it for extra shade. On the same side of the house, overlooking the courtyard, a stone staircase leads to two levels of stone, which are formed into gardens. In the first garden there are beautiful roses, two palm trees and a rock garden filled with herbs of Crete, which is available for guests to make beverages, the famous tea with the healing herbs of Crete.
In the second garden you will find orange and lemon trees, cypress trees and a small vegetable garden with Cretan seasonal vegetables. The second patio in front of the entrance to the house is surrounded by a variety of flowers, and in one corner there is a traditional wine press to press grapes with a pergola over it.
In the western part of the villa, on the ground floor, there is a large terrace overlooking the pool of the house, in which you will find a dining area and sofas to enjoy breakfast or lunch under the shade offered by the wooden pergola across the terrace. Below this, there is a green garden with the pool, offered for moments of joy and relaxation.
The villa intensely reflects the feeling of love and care of the owners for anything authentic that gives joy and makes you dream. It can accommodate 8 to 10 guests in its rooms. It has 4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 WC, 1 kitchen and 3 living-rooms in a single room with the dining area (with neoclassical furnishing and an authentic Cretan living room).
On the ground floor there is a large area where there are 3 living rooms, a fireplace and dining area. It is also equipped with a satellite TV, DVD player, hi-fi system, a large bookcase with a collection of books for the fans of literature and a small collection of movies and music CDs.
Next to the kitchen there is a fully equipped fridge, oven, hob, microwave, etc., as well as the accessories and utensils needed to cook and eat. Finally, there is a double bedroom and a WC with a shower.
Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, 2 of them with double bed and the other one with singles beds. Two of them have access to a large terrace overlooking the stone structures. The third one has windows with the view of the beautiful village. The bathroom on this floor has a large bathtub and a washing machine. Upstairs there is also a large covered terrace Southwest, with a living room to enjoy the unique view of the village, of ‘’Armenokampos’’ and the mountains in the distance. In the hallway in front of the terrace, a small office space with functional PC has been formed.
It also has parking for 3 cars, free internet access, satellite TV and a computer you can use. Bicycles will be provided upon request free of charge. House maintenance is provided twice a week.
The villa is liscensed from the National Tourism Organization.

We are a group of fine guys and we spent our holidays at Dryades Villa last week. The house is wonderful with a lot of space outside (garden, swimming pool, barbecue area).
The position is not very comfortable but in ten minutes you can go to Rethymno by car. On the main street, which is a five-minute walk from the house, you can reach some Tavernas where you can eat good typical food.
The hospitalty was excellent and the staff very kind and helpful.
We recommend it to you.
Armeni is a traditional village of the municipality of Rethymno, in the Prefecture of Rethymno, which owes its name to the Armenian soldiers, settled here in the year 961 AD, by the General Nikiforos Fokas, when he liberated Crete from the Saracens. In fact, the two neighboring villages, Somatas and Fotinos, were named after two of his generals. Yet, today there is no resident of Armenian origin living in the village, since residents from Sfakia and Rodakino moved here. In the village, there used to be an industrial city in the Minoan period, as indicated by the Late Minoan Cemetery (1350-1200 BC), in Prinokefalo position, 1 km from Somatas Village with 300 chambered tombs. The village is situated in the center of Armenokampos at an altitude of 380 meters, has a population of 379 residents according to the National Registration Company in 2011, belongs to the Municipality of Rethymno and along with the community of Somatas which has 161 inhabitants, St. Georgios with 87 residents and Fotinou with 79 residents, the local community of Armeni has a total population of 706 residents.
