ASTERIA FARMHOUSE – flat for 2 to 6 people
ASTERIA, from the Latin word “aster " meaning " starlit", is the name of this authentic former farmhouse, owned by my family for generations. It comprises two floors with high vaulted ceilings and very large rooms. It is a fine example of the arched architecture typical of the Amalfi coast.
The house is situated midway up a steep incline overlooking the superb panorama of the bay of Salerno. It is easily accessible from the scenic Amalfi coast road, via an automatic gate and a private road. Surrounded by verdant lemon groves, Asteria is a truly magical place, where my family and I spend our holidays and, as such, has been tastefully furnished with loving care. The house has all amenities including heating, television and internet connection.
The car parking is inside the property.
The ground floor consists of a small entrance hall with a downstairs toilet/shower room, a large lounge with two sofa-beds and a large farmhouse-style kitchen which is fully equipped with a cooker ( hob and oven), fridge-freezer and dishwasher. Leading off the kitchen is a utility/laundry room with a washing machine. Large French windows, from both the lounge and the kitchen, take you onto a large terrace with sun loungers, tables and chairs so that you can enjoy the beautiful vista and relax by the pond with summer water-lilies.
Rising from the small entrance hall is a traditional stone staircase which takes you to the first floor, which can also be reached through French windows from the higher driveway and gardens. The first floor comprises: a master bedroom with a double bed and an en-suite shower room, a second bedroom with single beds, a study/reading room with the large original old fireplace and a large bathroom with a bath.
ASTERIA is situated at the southern end of the Amalfi coast, halfway between Vietri sul Mare and Cetara. It is the perfect location for holidays throughout the year, with easy access to all the places of tourist interest
It’s very close to the most famous resorts along the Amalfi coast such as Maiori, Minori, Atrani, Amalfi, Praiano, Positano ,Ravello. In spring and summer, ferries and hydrofoils also connect these important centres of the Amalfi coast with Salerno, Capri, Sorrento and Naples: you can take a day trip to Capri.
You can also visit Salerno with its Luci d'Artista and its monuments: ASTERIA is perfectly situated to be reached by bus or train at Salerno Central Station. In addition, there are many cultural and historical places of interest nearby, such as Naples, Pompeii, Herculaeum (Ercolano), Vesuvius, Paestum, Elea-Velia and the National Park of Cilento e Vallo di Diano (UNESCO World Heritage site since 1998), all of which are accessible by public transport from Salerno.
The bus stop for buses to Salerno or Amalfi/Positano is immediately in front of the gate.
If you need more information about the surrounding areas or help to book daytrips, guided and wine tours during your stay, I live in Salerno and will be on hand to help you. I can also take you to visit the two best Vietri ceramic workshops , where you can try your hand at pottery.
For walkers and ramblers: all the information regarding several Amalfi coastal paths is available, including 'God's Way' (Sentiero degli Dei) which is rated by the New York Times as one of the most beautiful walks in the World.
