Our cottage is located in Monchy au Bois. It is a farm cottage. It was completely finished in 2011 in an old attic. It is located in the courtyard of the farm and the children will discover the animals. Our main activity is dairy farming. This is a cottage located on the floor with an area of 47 m² for 4 people. It consists of two bedrooms, a kitchen and seating area.

Lovely Place To Stay
We are a family of 4 and stayed here in order to explore the WW1 battlefields of the Somme area (and a day trip to Ypres for the same reason).
The cottage is well kept and perfect as a base to explore the local area. Francine and Jean-Claude were lovely hosts and the welcoming custard tart was delicious. The cottage was lovely and clean. You have to climb the metal steps you see on the picture and, as it is a loft conversion, there are lots of low ceilings. As well as trying to avoid bumping your head, the sloping ceilings can make the kitchen units difficult to use (the cooker / oven and sink are not affected by this). There is a private courtyard which is lovely but not used by us given we were there in the Autumn.
It is situated approx 30 minutes from Albert, about 50 minutes from Peronne and 90 minutes from Ypres. The main Somme battlefields of Beaumont-Hamel, Lochnagar, Thiepval and Longueval are all within 25 minutes of the cottage.
It is a working farm and Francine runs a local farm produce shop; if you get chance, we would recommend trying some of the produce here as it is very good. The closest supermarkets are in Arras (25 minutes) and Albert and there is a boulangerie in the village of Bienvillers-au-Bois just 5 minutes drive away. Most of the surrounding villages have some shops but we rarely saw them open as we passed through.
We would recommend this as a good base to tour the local area.
Lovely -well equipped in pretty village. Spacious rooms - somehad to watch the sloped ceilings!
We were made to feel very welcome with an 'apero' and Francine and Jean-Claude were very friendly and accommodating. We had a problem with the car on our second day and they both helped us with phone calls to garages and Jean-Claude drove us to Arras to collect the car when it had been repaired. They could not have been more generous and considerate. Next time, we will definitely stay longer! A great location for visiting Vimy Ridge Memorial and other sites in the area.
Nous vous remercions pour votre appréciation et nous serons heureux de vous accueillir de nouveau si vous le désirez.

The family went out of their way to make us feel very welcome . We had an enjoyable two weeks.
The Gite was lovely and clean and ample space for four adults. There was everything we needed for our holiday. We enjoyed the farm produce, butter, eggs and custard tart. My son and husband got involved making butter and milking the cows.
We would just like to say to the family thank you for making us feel very welcome . The Pearson's

A wonderful place to stay
Myself, my daughter and my son stayed at this place. We slept there for 4 nights and it was one of the best part of our two week trip to France. Francine and Jean Claude and family are wonderful hosts and very kind. The beds are comfortable and it was incredibly clean and neat and you get to experience country living. It is well suited for young families. I will recommend this to all my friends who will visit Northern France
Nous vous remercions pour cette excellente appréciation et nous garderons de vous un très bon souvenir. Peut être aurons nous l'occasion de se revoir une prochaine fois.
Nous vous souhaitons une bonne continuation dans votre vie et encore un grand merci .

Lovely setting in heart of village
Lovely property very clean & fresh, plenty of room, although need to watch for the sloping ceilings in places, ideally situated to visit the Somme, and to enjoy Northern France.
We really enjoyed our stay
