The family went out of their way to make us feel very welcome . We had an enjoyable two weeks.

  • 5 of 5

The Gite was lovely and clean and ample space for four adults. There was everything we needed for our holiday. We enjoyed the farm produce, butter, eggs and custard tart. My son and husband got involved making butter and milking the cows.

We would just like to say to the family thank you for making us feel very welcome . The Pearson's

A wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Myself, my daughter and my son stayed at this place. We slept there for 4 nights and it was one of the best part of our two week trip to France. Francine and Jean Claude and family are wonderful hosts and very kind. The beds are comfortable and it was incredibly clean and neat and you get to experience country living. It is well suited for young families. I will recommend this to all my friends who will visit Northern France

Lovely setting in heart of village

  • 5 of 5

Lovely property very clean & fresh, plenty of room, although need to watch for the sloping ceilings in places, ideally situated to visit the Somme, and to enjoy Northern France.

We really enjoyed our stay

A Treasured Highlight Of Our Visit To France

  • 5 of 5

We were very satisfied with all aspects of our stay at this charming place. The apartment was clean, bright, and functional and the setting in the midst of a family farm was superb. Caveat: the sloped ceilings could be a challenge for taller people.

The location suited us perfectly as we wanted a base from which to pay our respects to 3 great uncles who died in the WW1 battles of the Somme, Arras & Amiens and to a grandfather who did make it back to Canada. We were able to visit our intended destinations quickly from this central base. It was an easy day trip to Dieppe as well. Groceries, gas, pharmacie, and post office were all just a few minutes away in Bucquoy and Arras is not far away for all other needs. Francine sells various delicious farm products on-site too.

The scenery in the region is simply beautiful and we were able to take several long walks on quiet farm roads amongst the fields and woods behind the barn. We especially enjoyed a walk to the Le Quesnoy Military Cemetery which is midway between Monchy au Bois and Bucquoy - about as far as one can get from a paved road in this vicinity.

The most endearing aspect of the visit was Francine, Jean-Claude, their family and how hard and long they work to maintain their enterprise. We've gained a new appreciation of the versatility and skills required to keep all this going. We had a lot of fun participating in some of the farm activities and, in the process, were able, in spite of language differences, to have some very satisfying exchanges.

This place and these people stand out as a treasured highlight of our visit to France.

Fabulous, can't wait to visit again!

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely fabulous time staying in Monchy au Bois. The accommodation was immaculate, private and very large and contained everything we could want. The farm was fascinating and our children (aged 6 and 9) were especially interested in this and actually said that this was their best holiday ever! The farm is located in beautiful countryside where we went for some very nice walks. It's also quite close to Arras by car which has all the city life and cafes and some beautiful architecture. Francine and Jean Luc were so hospitable and friendly and couldn't help us enough. This was our first holiday in France and this experience has sealed the fact that we will certainly be going back and will definitely would like to stay in here again!
