Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday home in Haut de Cagnes - La Maison Cuisinier

Wonderful French Home, Sleeps 9, 5 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, Terraces, Views, WiFi

La Maison Cuisinier is accessed by a small lane way off the main street in Haut de Cagnes, so it is easy to unload your things from the car close to the house. Entering through large wooden gates you arrive directly on the terrace and picturesque views beyond. A large palm tree offers some shade on this spacious south facing area – super for entertaining with outdoor tables and chairs and an impressive outside fireplace for BBQ (charcoal) cooking. Another major draw is the cooling pool (big enough for adults and children but more like a hot tub without jets nor heat) just added - perfect for summer months with a chilled glass of rose! Colourful Mediterranean plants and kitchen herbs add colour to the terrace, which is an ideal place to welcome friends and family during the warmer months.

Ground level

You leave the terrace and enter directly into the heart of the house - the kitchen. This is a total delight for food lovers - not only being perfectly equipped but also a comfortable area to hang out on bar stools with a morning coffee and newspaper, watching all the activities in the house going on around you!

The ground level is open and bright with arched, glass, French doors opening onto terraces to the south and east - off the kitchen is a corner fireplace with a comfy seating area. Through a large archway you have another comfortable seating spot with sofa and leather armchairs opposite the sweeping, wooden staircase to the next level. A w.c. is provided on this level and every other level. A narrow corridor runs along the side of the house off the kitchen area with small fireplace and desk. The flooring is in original deep red tiles, the walls are white with large sumptuous paintings and charming antique features, such as ornate radiators, sparking chandeliers and decorative candelabras.

First Floor

With wooden beams and tiled floors opening onto the bright and large terrace, the master bedroom carries the same airy feel present throughout the rest of the house. Bold paintings line the walls and there is a king sized bed (180cm) with bedside tables. The bedroom and ensuite bathroom have been recently renovated, offering a shower and w.c. There is an air con unit in this bedroom plus a dvd player.

Second Floor

On the second floor a twin bedroom with two antique wooden beds (90cm) can be found plus another bedroom off this with a charming brass bed of 100cm - best suited to one adult or two small children. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans. Stairs directly descend into the twin bedroom from the top floor bedroom and there is a w.c. beneath the stairs.

Third Floor

The top floor provides another bedroom which opens onto a terrace with large round table perfect for catching the last of the sun - a charming, antique double bed (140cm) and bathroom with bath with telephone shower and w.c. are provided for your comfort.

Independent Studio

By returning to the terrace from the main entrance and turning right you will find the doors to an independent studio completely renovated, for additional accommodation. There is a queen sized bed (160cm), wardrobe, dining table and kitchen with fridge and oven. The style is simple with tiled floors and there is a ceiling fan for summer. The studio has its own bathroom with shower and w.c.

A washing machine is available for guests to use. All rooms have fans or ceilings fan, except for the main bedroom, which has air conditioning.

La Maison Cuisinier offers a wonderful mix of rich elegance with its tasteful choice of antiques and paintings combined with practical design and cosy comfort. The kitchen and outside dining area are a rare and total joy for guests who enjoy entertaining and cooking. What better place to find yourself in, where you can pick up fresh produce in the local market only a 5 minute walk from the house and conjure up culinary delights in the most perfect setting!

The house is only a short stroll to a good selection of restaurants and the village's main square, which is a hive of activity during the warmer months. The town below is within easy walking distance, where you can find a boulangerie, food market, boutiques, supermarket, cafes, post office, etc. The free shuttle bus runs every 15 minutes from the town up to the village so that is also an option if you don't feel like walking.

Wonderful house in Haut de Cagne

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a week in this wonderful and very cosy house. Everything was perfect. Plenty of room inside and outside. If you want to cook the kitchen is very well-appointed and you have a food marked within 10 min. Walk. And not to forget you have a marvellous view: mountain, valley and sea. My best recommendations

dramatic home with many comforts

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at many vacation rentals throughout Europe, this was one of our favorites and definitely the most dramatic. The kitchen, terraces and common areas are second to none, the pictures do not lie. What is not conveyed in the photos are the small comforts throughout the home. Excellent wi-fi, great stereo system, comfortable cushions for the abundant outdoor seating, every cooking utensil imaginable, three sets of keys provided, fresh herbs growing throughout the property etc.

Check in and out were smooth, informative and friendly. Highly recommend haute cagnes for escape from the Azur madness.

Charming home with spacious terraces

  • 4 of 5

The standard of the house met our expectations from text and pictures on the website. The kitchen is a dream - well equipped - and with the additional outside bbq - we enjoyed cooking at home. That was not due to a poor choice of other altetnatives as the village offers a rich variety of good restaurants - a couple of with a Michelin star. Comfortable beds, most bed rooms have their own bathrooms. The roof terrace has a beautiful ocean view.

Only the master bed room has air condition, and during our stay in early August temperatures rose to 35' during the day. But all bedrooms have fans so it was not a big problem.

The property feels generous, cosy and spacious - both in- and outside. (We were 9 adults and a four year old, and we still felt we had plenty of space.)

There is a shuttle taking you to the town centre and back. It's free og charge and leaves every 15 minutes all day.

There is also a free shuttle taking you from the town centre to the beach although not as frequent.

Owner's representative is really sweet, helpful and quick to answer questions and to provide relevant and correct information.

We're already planning our next trip.

Beautiful House with much Character.

  • 5 of 5

We spent two very relaxing and pleasant weeks in this wonderful place. Sercive and Information after booking was very good, with lots of useful Information, and the welcome by the owner´s representative upon arrival was very friendly.

The house itself was exactly as we expected it to be; very clean and well maintained. It is situated about half the way up the ancient town of Cagnes sur Mer, with a panoramic view over Cagnes and onto the Mediterranian Sea. It has a lot of character and has been furnished and decorated in a way that perfectly suites the style of the house. The kitchen is luxious and completed with a Barbecue Station on the terrace.

From the house it is a 5 minutes walk downhill to the centre of Cagenes, with different shops and supermarkets. There are several sweet looking little Restaurants in the area, but with the great kitchen we actually never got to try one. :-) The house does not offer an individual parking, but we always found a place to leave the car in the adjacend street or the free parking lot on the foot of the hill.

We can absolutely recommend the house to anyone who is looking for an individual and characterful place with lots of space, and would always go there again if we spend another holiday in that area.

Car: not necessary

The charming, fortified medieval village of Haut de Cagnes is the oldest district of Cagnes sur Mer – ideally situated between Nice and Antibes and only a short car journey from Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport and within walking distance to the sea.

Here you are close to a boulangerie for warm fresh bread each morning and an excellent selection of restaurants for great dining. Local food markets, shops and outdoor cafes are all nearby. The area provides a perfect hopping on point to multiple destinations and attractions with its excellent rail and bus services.

Crowned with the original Grimaldi Castle, this enchanting medieval village with charming cobbled streets and remarkable ancient buildings transports you back in time to the 13th Century. The serenity and simplicity found in these pretty French villages allows you to enjoy the sun, sea and breath-taking views in a very relaxed atmosphere. Known as the ‘Montmartre of the French Rivieria’, Haut de Cagnes was the haunt of Renoir, Modigliani, Soutine, Yves Klein, Bardot and Cocteau. It’s easy to see why many famous artists lived or found their inspiration here, falling in love with the soft Mediterranean light and honest authenticity.

But this charming, perched village has so much more to offer, with its tiers of tiny streets, climbing soft stone walls and colourful houses bursting with history. On the main street and Place du Château, there are plenty of bustling restaurants and cafés plus numerous historical cultural events and colourful festivals are held during the year.

A short stroll down the hill will bring you to the town of Cagnes, which provides all amenities such as a boulangerie, a patisserie, a supermarket, post office, the main bus square and a wonderful covered food market. Close to the town centre lies the Renoir Museum, the Hippodrome for horse racing and Cros de Cagnes – the seaside resort of Cagnes sur Mer with its private and public beaches.

There is so much you can do without a car, such as; shopping in Cannes, people watching in St Tropez, perfume sampling in Grasse, gambling in Monaco, lunching in Italy and buying art in St Paul – all easily accessible and inexpensive with most bus journeys costing only 1€50. Or if you prefer to cycle along the coastline to Nice or Antibes by bike, bike hire is rarely far away.

No 44 is a free navette, which runs up to the medieval village every 15 minutes from the town centre of Cagnes at Square Bourdet (the central bus station). It is ideal if you have luggage or shopping bags or when the weather is hot – it travels right up to the Château with a few strategic stops on the way. A free shuttle bus from the town No 45 runs to the beach roughly every hour if you don't feel like the 20 minute walk.
