About Craig Wood

My name is Craig Wood. I have owned this property since 2009 and was my home until 2015. I grew up in Aberlady, which is a small village a mere 2.5 miles from Gullane. I own a catering company called Craig Wood Catering, which provides mainly marquee weddings in and around East Lothian. I live with my wife Lisa and our sons Josh and Clark in Edinburgh. My hobbies are Golf (a must if you live in this area) and playing the bagpipes. I take great pride in everything that I do and I will always do my best to ensure that your stay is exactly what you are looking for.

Why Craig Wood chose Gullane

Muirfield Steading is a remarkably unique converted Steading (or barn) which is approximatly 30 years old. It still has the old stone facings on the outside and remarkably modern on the inside. It has been finished to a very high standard of which I am sure you will enjoy as much as I have for so many years. It's location on the edge of the famous village of Gullane, makes it far enough away from any noise but close enough to walk to all that the village has to offer, including bars, restaurants, shops, coffee shops, Golf courses, beach etc

Definitely the old stone building, with open plan, spacious living area to enjoy everyones company whilst watching television, dining, cooking or simply reading a magazine after a hard days activities.

Muirfield steading

Beautifully furnished cottage in a stunning area of Scotland. Very comfortable and TV in bathroom great fun. Coffee machine a bonus although I seemed to have spent a lot of money on the chocolate pods. Cottage in a quiet cul de sac with very friendly and helpful neighbours. Owner always on hand to deal with problems although we had none. Lots of golfing and too many courses to choose from. You can hire bikes at Archerfield wall garden. Good farm shop there as well. Easy and reasonable to get into Edinburgh by train so visited the festival. Also did a long trip out to Blair Atholl 2 hours but make sure you avoid Edinburgh rush hour. North Berwick lovely and would recommend Ice cream parlour (well deserved awards) and Zittos excellent as pasta dishes come in 3 sizes. Weather was also good but if wet cottage comfortable to stay in.

A great holiday house in an ideal location

I stayed here for a week in April with my hubby,our two boys aged 13 and 10 and my mum aged 78. It was perfect for our needs, being on a small, quiet estate, and only 15 minutes walk to the town centre, and similar distance to the fabulous beach. What we liked best was there are so many nice places to cycle to - along the John Muir Way, and therefore totally traffic- free.:) We only used the car once all week. Self catering was easy in the house, but we also ate out a couple of times, which was positive both times. The bedrooms in the house are small, but the beds are very comfy. We enjoyed the novelty of a TV in the bathroom, and the shower in the ensuite is lovely too.The living room / kitchen is compact, though cooking was easily managed. We are tall people, and used all the space. Had we been 6 adults we might have felt a bit cramped at times, but if there are kids in your party you will be fine for space. Would definitely return and happy to recommend.

Gullane is a great base for Golfing, (22 courses within 15 miles) Enjoying the award winning beach, Join the John Muir Walk or take in the nature reserve at Aberlady. Edinburgh is only a short train journey away and with both brewery tours and Whisky distillery tours with in a 15 minute drive, there really is something to do for everyone.
