We stayed here for a week in early November 2016. The location is close to two important water bus stops in a very quiet and safe part of Venice. The apartment we rented was on the ground floor with a quiet canal right outside the window. Modern and very clean. We visited many interesting parts of Venice easily in a short amount of time. The kitchen is small but handles all your cooking needs. We missed having a spatula and a proper knife for cutting vegetables. The shower is only one end of a tub so there is some minor water splashing out into the tiled bathroom. We needed an extra blanket and got one the first day after asking. All these points are very minor considering all the positives of this apartment. The owners speak fluent English and are quick to respond to inquiries. We will highly recommend this place to all our Italy-bound friends.
Great place in a quiet part of the city, within easy walking distance to the main hotspots. Irene was really helpful before and during our stay and Giulieta (who met us and took us to the apt) was equally welcoming and helpful. Bringing round some wellies for us to use on our last day was particularly appreciated given all the rain that day. We've no hesitation in recommending this apt to others. Cosy, clean and well equipped (although a toaster would have been great).
This is a nice 1 bedroom apartment in a lovely, perfectly restored building in our favorite area in Venice (Dorsoduro). The pictures are accurate but don't do it justice. The main room is fairly large, the galley style kitchen is generally well equipped (could use a new kettle and stove top espresso maker, but they were workable), the bathroom is quite nice, and the bed was very comfortable. On the ground floor, the main room and bedroom have views of a sweet little canal. Campo San Barnaba is a short walk away with restaurants, café, Grom gelato shop, etc. And the flat is about equidistant between two vaporetto (water bus) stops, at Ca Rezzonico on the Grand Canal, and San Basilio on the Giudecca Canal. This section of town is less touristy than San Marco and most others, yet convenient for walking or vaporetto to wherever you want to go. The owner was very easy to deal with and her greeter was very helpful in getting us settled. The only issue we had was the wifi, which worked intermittently. But this was a very nice place for us to stay and overall a very good value. We'd stay here again.
Only a short (5 min) walk to 2 vaporetti stops, my favorite Campo Santa Margarita and lots of good restaurants, this is an excellent location for an extended stay in Venice. One needs to be near restaurants because despite having a kitchen the apartment lacks adequate tools for actually cooking anything more than pasta with a prepared sauce. Not even a spatula for making eggs!
But we were out during the day times and then enjoyed checking out local dinner options. The AC works well enough to keep the 1 bedroom cool with the use of the fan provided.
If only the wifi was reliable it would be even better! We reset it several times but by our last day it had stopped working completely.
Overall a good value for the price, at least for me.
My husband and I spent two nights here for our first anniversary and it was perfect for us!! We hit some traffic on our way to Venice and then took the wrong water bus so needless to say we did not arrive when we told them we were and they were so great with coordinating with us and coming later! The location was great, far enough from busy areas but close enough to walk to all of the major sites. The apartment was very clean, we did not use the kitchen much but it seemed to have everything you would need if you wanted to stay in and cook. If we would ever come back to Venice we would definitely stay here again!
Tip- There was an awesome looking produce boat that was parked in the square right down from the apartment on Monday morning so if you're looking for fruits and veggies for the week check it out, everything looked super fresh!
Property is as shown in the pictures. It's clean and everything works well. Julia met us at the waterbus stop and explained everything about the apartment to us. She was very helpful and informative. It was easy to walk almost everywhere from this location. The laundry service that was included was much appreciated. Irene communicated quickly and clearly with us to book, answer questions, and get us checked in. We would definitely recommend this property!
Dorsoduro is one of the most beautiful district of Venice. It houses some of the most picturesque canals and palaces, and some of the town's great art showcases, without the pretension and tourist traps That you might expect. It's a student area, home to Venice's Ca 'Foscari University, and has Opinions more late-night drinking bars than the rest of Venice. The general vibe is artistic, youthful and relaxed.
The district's hub is Campo Santa Margherita, a long field fulfils Which just about every function of a public square: in the daytime you'll find a market, children playing, antique stalls, locals walking dogs, a supermarket and cafes. In the evening this Becomes Venice's liveliest nightspot - Although That is not saying a lot in this city tame. Still, the bars are open until midnight or later, and throngs of young people gather here to sip the occasional drink and to catch up with friends.
In Dorsoduro you can find the most important museums and art galleries of the city such as Accademia galleries, Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Punta della Dogana (modern art galleries situated in a wonderful location recently restored by Tadao Ando) and Ca 'Rezzonico museum (a museum of the 18th Century in a beautiful Venetian palace on the Grand Canal).
Anche There are many important churches, as the church of Health (very important for Venetians for the Madonna della Salute feast on 21st November), San Sebastian (almost Entirely decorated by Paolo Veronese, who is buried here anche) and the Church of the Carmini (large church with paintings by Lorenzo Lotto and Cima da Conegliano. The adjacent school has a ceiling by Giambattista Tiepolo).
Just a 5 minutes walk and you will reach anche the Frari with Titian's and Bellini's painting.
One of the most characteristic place in Dorsoduro and in the whole Venice is the Squero of San Trovaso (a small boatyard for making gondolas).
The eastern end of the rafts (a long promenade That the faces of Giudecca Canal and Giudecca island), along by Venice's old salt storehouses, can be empty and atmospheric. The western section, where you'll find bars and a kiosk selling drinks, is where locals go to bask in the spring sunshine.
If there are Biennale shows hosted there, or by special appointment, try to visit the glamorous Palazzo Zenobio on Fondamenta del Soccorso, with its Baroque ballroom and grand garden pavilion. It's now an Armenian institute, and offers cheap hostel-type accommodation (see our links panel).
About eating and drinking, Dorsoduro has the usual tourist restaurants, but anche plenty of cheap places for the students and resident people.
