beautiful home and terrace garden with great walks nearby

  • 4 of 5

Rooms all very clean and comfortable, beautifully decorated and furnished with all we could have needed, including a modern kitchen and a lovely big bathroom with old-fashioned fittings. The terrace garden with two levels of seating was lovely for morning coffee and for watching the sun set. Only downside was the sound of traffic from the main road: being a listed building, it cannot be double-glazed, but of course on the other hand, the property had a unique character. (We were there on a bank holiday, so there may have been more traffic than usual passing through Whalley. The birdsong in the area was beautiful, being surrounded by trees and the river so close). A perfect location for walking in the woods, strolling by the river, walking into town and around the abbey ruins, and a short drive to Pendle Hill, Clitheroe and Hurst Green. Such beautiful countryside all around, and a very helpful and considerate property manager - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - thank you!
