Guests at the Woodland Retreat also enjoy the use of a lovely Tennis Court and Free Salmon Fishing on the River Earn - all on the doorstep!

'Wow!' is the first word that springs to mind when you step inside this amazing cottage. The beautiful interior has been renovated to the highest speculation and is full of style and character.

The cottage is a superb, Listed example of Georgian architecture. It has been lovingly restored to successfully marry the charm and character of a traditional stone house with the best progressive eco-build practices.

The entire interior has been newly renovated and modernised to incorporate a very large open-plan contemporary living space with solid oak floors and underfloor heating throughout. The ceilings are incredibly high and the unique central sandstone chimney is a striking feature which facilitates the definition of the three living areas in the heart of the cottage.

A stylish, fully equipped kitchen complete with all mod-cons and a Caithness stone worktop leads to the bright, wooden panelled dining area. The large oak table seats 8 comfortably, and offers fantastic South views out into the garden and beyond.

A wonderful atmospheric and cosy Lounge is created around the wood-burner, where comfortable leather sofas are perfect for stretching out on in front of the fire.

Beautiful Georgian windows have shutters and window seats and are the perfect place to enjoy a book or get the binoculars out and study visiting wildlife.

There are two spacious, bright, South-facing Bedrooms:

The Double (en suite) Room is beautifully decorated with an extremely comfortable kingsize bed, made up with crisp Egyptian cotton linen.

Both Bedrooms have more than ample hanging and shelf space and come with hair-dryers.

The En Suite is very light and high-ceilinged with a large Shower and window.

The Twin Room is also high-ceilinged and extremely bright, with windows to both the South and West. There are two twin beds which can be made into a double if necessary.

The Family Bathroom is large and spacious with a generous doubled ended bath, separate walk in shower and is stocked with organic shampoo and soap. The lighting is high-tech; enjoy a romantic candle-lit bath bathed in stunning blue light!

Adjacent to the back door is a separate Outhouse/Utility Room, which is the perfect Washing and Drying Room. There is a large stainless steel sink, washing machine, an overhead pulley and underfloor heating. Spacious, airy and warm, it is the ideal place for pets to sleep when they are not in the garden. Please note that, due to our allergy free status, pets are not allowed in the house at any time.

For your Entertainment there is a 57' Smart/HD flat screen TV with a sub-woofer sound system and DVD player. There is a good selection of maps as well as interesting books on Scottish wildlife, history and culture.

Guests at the Woodland Retreat can also enjoy playing tennis on an astro grass tennis court. The court is a short distance from the cottage and has the same stunning views across the Strathearn Valley.

Visitors can enjoy many wonderful walks through private woodlands and along the River Earn, where they can see fish jumping, deer, pheasant, partridge and red squirrels crossing woodland trails and birds of prey soaring overhead.

The Woodland Retreat is also centrally positioned to visit top tourist attractions; The City of Perth, Glenturret whisky distillery, Drummond Castle Gardens and Crieff are only 15mins from the cottage. Scone Palace, Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument are all easily accessible in under 30mins as is Loch Tay and the Scottish Highlands.

Edinburgh and Glasgow are both reached within an hour, making the Woodland Retreat the ideal base for a holiday in Scotland.

About Lisa Roberts

Lisa Roberts owns and manages the Woodland Retreat. Lisa lives on the Estate with her four children and husband, Jamie, who farms the surrounding agricultural land and manages the Fishing and Woodlands. The Woodland Retreat is their second holiday property on the Estate, both properties are 5 star, award-winning and top-rated in the area. They run a number of other successful long term let properties and wanted to give visitors from both the UK and overseas the opportunity to sample Scotland's wonderful rural life - somewhere they could come to relax, unwind and enjoy their beautiful surroundings. Lisa used to run a tourism business out of the five star Gleneagles Hotel so is very familiar with the local area; the Retreats have a wealth of information for visitors to help plan their excursions as well as recommendations for dining in the area. Both Jamie and Lisa are sociable and well travelled and enjoy meeting the many visitors who come from all over the world to visit this special Retreat in a beautiful area of Perthshire.

Lisa Roberts purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Lisa Roberts chose Perthshire

The Woodland Retreat is the quintessential 'Hansel and Gretel' cottage in the most perfect location for a holiday in Scotland - a very romantic, private haven of peace and tranquillity with stunning views and yet only 10 mins from local shops/restaurants and amenities as well as the Gleneagles Resort Hotel.

Golf is always nearby, from the world-famous Gleneagles courses (10 mins) to the local courses in Auchterarder and Crieff.

The Scenic Highlands are on the doorstep and the cultural centres of Edinburgh and Glasgow are within an hour.

What makes this cottage unique

The Woodland Retreat is a fine example of listed Georgian architecture, guests have the unique opportunity to holiday in a beautiful historic house (with a 'wow' interior!) . The location is equally superb: without stepping in a car, visitors can enjoy many walks through the woodlands and along the River Earn, where they can see fish jumping, deer, pheasant, partridge and red squirrels crossing woodland trails and birds of prey soaring overhead.

Beautiful walks, a tennis court and free fishing on the River Earn are all on the doorstep.

The Retreat is also incredibly romantic. Couples come back time and time again to enjoy quality time together, having the UK's best restaurant 10 mins away is also a bonus!

Luxurious and amazing stay!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for 3 nights in December and it was amazing! As soon as we arrived, there was a basket of wine, chocolates and essentials, the Christmas lights were on and the hot tub was heating up - ready for us to use. It is in a great area and so peaceful to be away from all the noise. The house is spotless, warm and cosy - even when we arrived in the cold December weather. Lisa and the staff are very helpful and just a phone call away for help. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful Property

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property from the 3rd to 6th March 2017. The cottage is set in a beautiful location and you will want for nothing. Log burning fire, hottub, comfortable beds, makes this a great romantic or family break. Welcome pack of bread, jam, butter, coffee and stocked cupboards with all essentials is a nice touch by the owners. Lisa was very helpful with our booking and was also on hand to give us ideas of what to do in the area. I would have no problem as recommending this property as 5 * and trust anyone who stays will enjoy themselves as much as we did.

Many thanks

Colin, Emma and Emily

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Our second time staying at The Woodland Retreat and the cottage was every bit as wonderful as we'd remembered!

The cottage has been finished to a high standard and was spotlessly clean on arrival. The wood fire was lit and the hot tub warming up, the welcome pack of goodies were very much appreciated after a long drive too.

The Woodland Retreat is spacious but cosy and is really well equipped with everything you could possibly need during your stay making it the perfect home from home. The location is just fantastic too, so peaceful and quiet with the woodland behind and a view of the mountains to the front, you really do feel away from it all

Thanks Lisa and Jamie for being such fantastic hosts, you'll see us again very soon!

Beautiful cottage in a lovely location

  • 5 of 5

The 4 of us had a wonderful 3 night break at Woodland Retreat. Lisa and Jamie couldn't do enough for us, even down to dropping off a missed ingredient for dinner! We especially loved the comfortable beds and pillows and the warm welcome we received. We would highly recommend the Woodland Retreat - the only down point was that it wasn't long enough for us! Looking forward to another visit soon.

Amazing weekend!

  • 5 of 5

A truly amazing and relaxing weekend in a fantastic property. The photographs on the website do not do justice to the house. The attention to detail, and thought that has gone into the renovation is fantastic. The exterior is classic Georgian but the interior is modern and finished to an extremely high standard. The décor and artwork have been well chosen. The hot tub, is fantastic, although I am not sure what the deer made of us sitting out in it wearing woolly hats, whilst the snow fluttered down. The welcome from Lisa was warm and friendly, and we were shown how to operate everything. Walking through the adjacent woods on a frosty morning was great. A truly relaxing experience, which we would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family. A place we did not want to leave, and would gladly return in an instant.
