About the property

Palace located in a main street between the Arno River and Duomo square

The apartment is located in the third and last floor, equipped with a private lift, can accommodate up to 6 people and it develops on more floors: The first floor consist of a living area with chimney of over 60 sq. m and a fully equipped kitchen, the beautiful mezzanine houses one double sofa-bed. While at the last floor there are two finely furnished bedrooms, one double and the other with two single beds, each one with its own bathroom. The finishing is looked after with extreme care and suggests an ancient atmosphere of an antique Florentine dwelling: The living room has a welcoming and refined atmosphere thanks to its antique terracotta floor, a beautiful stone chimney, and a sought after ancient Italian furnishings. The second level is decorated with a vintage wooden floor, a ceiling with wooden beams and stylish paintings.

About Gaia Vitolo

We are a family with two children. My job is tailoring and my partner is a painter. After an experience in New York we decided to return to our home town, Bologna, even if the trip and the discovery of new land have never left us.

Gaia Vitolo purchased this apartment in 2000

Why Gaia Vitolo chose Florence

The house was bought by my family because we are in love with the beauties and history of our country and the location of this accommodation are truly irresistible, in the heart of the vibrant city.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment keeps the typical characteristics of a Florentine dwelling, it is extremely quiet and it allows you to rest peacefully after long and intense walks and tours during the day.

Amazing stay,superb apartment

  • 5 of 5

My family of four loved this apartment in Florence. This is the perfect place to stay in Florence. The location couldn't be better. It's in close walking distance to all the major tourist sites, but is quiet at night. The accommodations are charming and comfortable. We had everything we needed for our three night stay. Gaia is a wonderful and responsive host. She even made restaurant reservations for us in advance of our trip. My only regret is that I'm not at a time in my life where I could move into this apartment for a few months! I hope to be able to do so at some point.

Great apartment in a fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

Gaia's apartment is in the heart of Florence within walking distance to all the major attractions and shopping areas. It is a large, very tasteful apartment with a lot of space and ideal for our family of four adults. The kitchen was slightly small but that was a minor issue. Overall we had a lovely stay.

400 year old building. What an awesome experience!!

  • 5 of 5

Lots of stairs but that made it that much more intriguing! Elevator if you need it. Helped get all our luggage to the top. Big windows that open to the street below. In the old part of town. Just a really neat apartment that makes you feel part of the life that must have been there years and years ago. Very short walk to town square, Duomo, and all the museums. Great experience and would definitely stay here again! And the manager works in the store right next to the apartment which made it that much more convenient.

Just amazing

  • 5 of 5

There are too many positives to list but will try. The only negative is we could not stay longer. Gaia was responsive and professional with communications prior to arrival, which helped tremendously in pre-planning stages. Since we were moving relatively quickly through different cities, she was very accommodating in where we picked up and left the keys and allowed us to stow luggage while we took an overnight trip to another city. The flat was more beautiful and clean in person as in the pictures on the website and in Architectural Digest. Large windows on the 3rd floor open to hear the birds in the mornings and people shopping on the streets below. When closed, the apartment is completely quiet. The 3 baths w showers had great water pressure. The linens, comfortable beds, and bedding were beautiful. We appreciated the large space to spread out as a family of 5. We needed the amenities - washing machine, all amenities of silverware, pots/pans, everything you can think of was available in the apartments The location...perfect. It truly is situated in the heart of Florence. We walked from the train station each w luggage. One direction led you to the Lungarno only a few blocks away. The other direction led to the heart of high end as well as Italian boutique shopping. We will definitely return as well as look into WPRelais' other properties. There is absolutely no reason to use a hotel or find another apartment. This stay made our trip even more enjoyable in Florence!

Great Apartment in the best neighborhood in Florence

  • 5 of 5

Gaia's apartment in Florence is gem!!! This is a great apartment in a fantastic neighborhood in Florence. It is in a central location about 10 minutes’ walk from the train. We were 5 adults and the apartment was very spacious and perfect for us. The space was spotless and very well maintained. The 3 bathrooms with showers was great!! The living room and dining areas were very roomy and made the space very comfortable to relax in!

The neighborhood is upscale and has great shopping & restaurants minutes from the house. It is very excess able to the main attractions and all the Florence neighborhoods! We could and did walk everywhere. Stefano the apartment manager was friendly and helpful with information, recommendations or advice as well as arranging transport back to the Airport. He went out of his way to guide us to the very best restaurants we have ever been to with such a variety from the finest unique Florentine fine dining to the typical Tuscan restaurants that featured local cuisine. He is so kind that we felt we had a friend in Florence.

The dining in Florence was incredible and there is a great restaurant right in the building that we spent our last night at. Handmade Pasta with black truffles was as decadent and delicious as it sounds. I can't say enough about the people of Florence and the amazing atmosphere that is welcoming and makes you feel a part of the community during your stay. We took advantage of all the recommendations for local shops etc. in the first couple of days and it made the stay easy to start off with essentials from delightful shop owners who despite the language difference were patient and kind while making sure we could communicate with humor.

While Florence is bustling with tourists the people of Florence are so inclusive and welcoming you feel at home almost immediately. Florence has so many historic and significant sites including big draws like the art museums and Duomo that are must see’s and amazing shopping but spending time in the local churches, cafes, and small family restaurants and Bars is the thing that made our stay so special. Florentines are proud of their city and seem anxious to share it with the world. This is what we liked best about our visit. Gaia's apartment was our home away from home and we enjoyed every minute sipping wine, cheese and Florentine specialties in the spacious but homey living space on the main floor. Thanks for sharing your home, we hope to return soon!

Vigna Nuova street, one of the main streets of the centre Florence, located in a rich and attractive neighbourhood. This street is really interesting, since it houses various renowned and exclusive boutique brands. In the same street you can find amazing examples of architecture like Palazzo Rucellai designed by the multi-faceted Renaissance figure, Leon Battista Alberti. The same palace that houses the apartments, a beautiful example of noble architecture of the seventeenth century.
