About the property A PEACEFUL SECLUDED AND EXTREMELY PICTURESQUE HIDEAWAY WITH ADJOINING INDOOR POOL AND HOT TUB SLEEPS 6 2 This detached house is surrounded by 50 acres of woodland home to red deer and numerous other wildlife and makes for the perfect secluded holiday setting. A sparkling trout stream babbles through the gardens on its way to the sea at Heddons Mouth. Walkers will be in their element with some lovely countryside walks direct from the property including a gentle stroll through the valley to the nearby Hunters Inn which is renowned for its lovely food. There is much to see and do in the area and you can enjoy the sweeping sands of Woolacombe Putsborough Croyde and Saunton ranked among the finest beaches in Europe. Fringed by cliffs and sand dunes and studded with rock pools these golden beaches offer a range of activities from bucket and spade fun to surfing and watersports. There are attractions to suit all tastes which include National Trust Arlington Court Watermouth Castle Exmoor Zoological Gardens Combe Martin Dinosaur Park and much more. Leisure facilities: direct access from the lounge to the 30 indoor swimming pool family sized hot tub shower room WC and changing room. Stroll the gardens sited by the stream. The accommodation offers TWO bedrooms: 1 open-plan double leading 3 steps up from the lounge area with spiral staircase leading off to the downstairs double bedroom with bunk beds. Bathroom: with shower over bath and WC also on the lower level. There is also outside access from this floor. Lounge/kitchen/diner: large with SkyTV DVD woodburner double sofabed and pool table. Kitchen area off the lounge/diner equipped with cooker washer/dryer dishwasher and microwave. Direct access from lounge to swimming pool. Outside: patio with seating use of gardens and large trampoline available. Amenities: ample parking. Bed linen Wi-Fi and electric included. 50 per week charge payable on arrival for logs/central heating and pool heating. 3 dogs by arrangement. Location: beach 3 miles pub 1 mile shop 2 miles. Arrival: 3pm.
The main attraction of the propriety is an indoor heated pool, and that is well attended to and fulfill the expectations. So is the beautiful garden. But both get completely overshadowed by the house itself. It is, dark, gloomy, with a very uncomfortable distribution, and crammed with old discarded furniture. The supposed double bed was very small and so old you literally sank in it, the other beds where crammed in a very small room in a kind of basement, where it was the only bathroom of the house (the other one, in the swimming pool, was practically useless). To access this basement you had either to go out through the garden or descend a narrow spiral staircase. That was not all: the sheets were too small for the bed, there were no towels (the owner provided some but as a special favor, saying they didn't provide them because of the swimming pool!?), and there were very few and very bad kitchenware. But all of this would have been bearable if the house would have been clean. My wife and I have been renting self-catering accommodations for fifteen years and we are aware that sometimes you don't find the places as clean as you would like them to be, but the state of this one was just not acceptable. I never saw such a filthy place in my life. In the kitchen there were dried rice stuck here a there, there were dried tomato rests, and stains of an unidentified repulsive nature. The sofas were dirty, and one of them completely covered by pet hair. All was dirty and sticky. In fact we did consider going to sleep in a inn near by and access to the house only to use the swimming pool. It is really a shame to rent a house in this condition.
