About this property

Comfortable and stylish farmhouse in the Dordogne near beautiful Brantome

Le Brouillac is a beautifully restored farmhouse set in a peaceful hamlet in the north of the Dordogne, near the charming town of Brantome, known as the 'Venice of the Perigord''. It is the ideal spot for a relaxing holiday for a group of friends or for an extended family gathering. The two hundred year old house is very comfortable and has retained many original features such as oak beams and stone fireplaces, but the recent restoration has added all the modern comforts you need to make your stay 'a home from home'.
There is a private swimming pool, set in a sunny courtyard and the enclosed garden is planted with flowering shrubs, fruit trees and a herb garden. There is a shaded pergola with a BBQ area and plenty of outdoor furniture for meals 'al fresco'
The pool is open from the beginning of May to the end of September.

Babysitting can be arranged and the owners can help with recommendations of restaurants, vineyard tours, golf and canoeing trips etc

Gorgeous Rural Gite
A lovely gite in a beautiful remote rural setting with a fantastic pool in an enclosed courtyard. The surrounding countryside is very picturesque but near to the pretty towns of Brantome and Boudeilles. There was plenty of room for our family of 5 (including 3 teenagers). The house also has a large lawned area, great for our dog! Our host Pam was very kind and helpful, communicated well about our booking, and made us a mean lemon drizzle cake! The only small criticism was that the house could do with a good deep clean - it's quite dusty and cobwebby, and the bathrooms not quite sparkling. I mention this only as feedback because this really is a lovely house and in a beautiful area.

Amazing Holiday Home
A fantastic house to stay in either with family or friends. Pam is an amazing owner, who made sure our stay was exceptional. The house is in a peaceful rural hamlet and boasts plenty of space and character and feels very homely. The facilities are more than adequate, and everything you need is provided. The swimming pool was a real hit with everyone, especially the kids who were eager to get in and play every day. Overall both of families had a brilliant holiday, which was made even better by the quality of the house and the warmth and friendliness of the owner. We would definitely recommend to anyone and would certainly book to stay again.

Fantastic family holiday!!
Had a lovely 10 nights at Pam’s beautiful farmhouse. In a lovely hamlet in rural France, but not far from Brantôme. The house has everything you could need. The pool is fabulous. Enjoyed by all. Plenty of space to unwind and relax. Most of us read some of the many books available and there are loads of games for everyone. Sat on the terrace most evenings for dinner but occasionally sat in at the huge table. Couldn’t fault it. Loads of fruit trees and made a delicious plum crumble one evening. Pam is always around if you have any questions but is not intrusive. Would love to return one day. Thoroughly recommend.

Three week stay in July 2019
The photos of your beautiful house just don't do it justice, what a haven! Accommodation for ten people with plenty of space to spare. Even though the owners are just over the road, they did not intrude on our privacy unless requested. They were always available when required, big thank you to you both for your help on booking activities etc. The house is two hours drive from the coast line, but there is a few lovely lake/man made beaches nearby, lake Jamaye is a must to visit. Also the old town Periguex is a great place to visit, especially for food and shopping. We also visited sarlat which is a very historical town with lots to do and see. We also combined this with a trip to La roque-gageac, which is a couple of hours away, but is well worth a visit. you can also go down the dorgogne river. Brantome is the nearest local town, with great sceneries, restaurants and also the opportunity to kayak the river through the town. Thank you so much for making our holiday so stress free, you're great hostesses. Kind regards the Clark family.

About the host

Host profile image
I moved to France in 1996 with my husband and love living in such a beautiful part of the world.

Why they chose this property

The Dordogne and especially Perigord Vert, as this part of the Dordogne is called, has everything that makes France special to me. Beautiful scenery, friendly neighbours, but above all the sense of peace and tranquillity missing from so many other parts of the world.

What makes this property unique

Total privacy to enjoy your holiday with friends and family, and the owner close by to help with any problems should they arise or to advise on things to see and do in the region.
