Hidden Diamond in the Rough

  • 4 of 5

Several friends and I recently stayed at this property recently with our dogs and loved it. It's a little time worn, but very charming and comfortable.

The location is perfect: just off Bradford Street and Shankpainter Road, so you are only one block away from the heart of Ptown (Joe's Coffee, Boatslip, restaurants) and all the attractions there. The supermarket is just a short walk away as are places to rent bikes.

The house itself is large with ample space. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, plates, cooking items if you want to cook. There are two bathrooms and an outdoor showers that is wonderful after a day at the beach. The bedrooms are all comfortable with linens and blankets. There is also a pullout sofa in the living room.

The yard is gigantic and great for relaxing and letting dogs run free. It's not completely fenced, but we didn't have any problems. Parking was great. No small, hard to navigate spaces here. It was wonderful to be able to just pull into the property.

The house does not have central air conditioning, but there are a couple of window units and lots of fans. We found that having the windows open sufficiently cooled the house and it was nice to leave the windows open, especially at night to let the cool cape air in.

Finally, the property owners were wonderful. We met them when we checked in and they were lovely. We needed to contact them with a question while we were there and they responded immediately. The whole process of renting from them has been easy.

We would definitely rent this property again.

The description is accurate -- it's a charming and very peaceful antique

  • 5 of 5

The house is just as described - if you like old houses and character you will love this house. An extra plus is the incredibly large, shady and quiet yard. Our small kids and old dog loved it. The main downside from our perspective was that both bathrooms are downstairs and the bedrooms are upstairs (up a steep staircase). That said we'd love to rent it again.

Great old house, great location - exactly as described.

  • 5 of 5

This house worked perfectly for us. We were 6 in the middle of July. It was hot, but the shady yard protected us. It was so easy to wander into town whenever we felt like it, but far enough away to never be bothered by late night party people.

Great!

  • 5 of 5

It was a really nice house for me and my family to stay. Very close (walkable) to all the places you want to see in P-Town. Large back yard with a fire pit and grill is so nice too, for children or animals (we had a small dog staying with us and she loved the yard). I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Great location, bigger house than I expected

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at the house. The house was bigger than it appeared to me in the pictures. Also, the second livingroom that has the pullout queen has a door and is at the end of the house, so it could be used as a private bedroom. If I were to come to the house again, I'd probably stay in this room rather than upstairs. The house was in a very convenient location - very easy to walk to Commercial St. I loved the giant yard and the privacy of the house which is a rare thing so close to town. Having parking right at the house for multiple cars is also a big plus. A few things that I would have preferred differently would be a check-out for 11 instead of 10am (so there's time to go out for breakfast and clean-up/pack), expanded cable service (my boyfriend couldn't see some of the Red Sox games he wanted to watch), and a lamp in the kitchen so you don't have to have the bright overhead lights on. That's small stuff though. I would definitely recommend this house. Thanks for letting us stay at your home. Lisa M.
