About the property

The house can be found in one of Appledore s narrow streets which lead to the village quay where visitors can watch the fishing boats return with the day s catch or hop a ride on a boat trips either up the River Torridge or out to sea. The village itself has all the charm one would expect from a traditional Devonshire fishing village with a range of interesting shops and a choice of eateries including pubs restaurants and bistros many of which specialise in fresh seafood. A ferry runs across the estuary to the neighbouring village of Instow which is home to the local yacht club and a pleasant beach. For those seeking out a bigger beach there is an expansive two-mile wide beach at nearby Westward Ho! which is just two miles from the cottage. This property is a wonderful example of the traditional fishermen s cottages which line the streets of the pretty village of Appledore. This particular cottage offers three-storey accommodation which has been lovingly maintained to offer a fantastic holiday retreat. On the ground floor the light-filled lounge has a restful atmosphere with its warming wood burner comfortable sofas wooden floors TV/DVD. The separate dining room is an elegant space with a gas fire a dining table which comfortable seats six and doors which lead out to enclosed patio. The number of eateries in the village means that there is no need for guests to cook but if they choose to the property s kitchen has everything they will need including an oven hob microwave fridge freezer dishwasher and washing machine as well as a handy CD player/radio. On the first floor guests will find two of the property s bedrooms both of which are attractive double rooms whilst on the second-floor (accessed by steep cottage-style stairs) there is a spacious twin bedroom. The bathroom which can be found on the first-floor has been thoughtfully designed to offer a roll-top bath a separate shower cubicle and WC. Outside there is a small enclosed patio area to the rear of the property which has garden furniture as well as a handy outside WC. There is roadside parking available near to the property.
