A fabulous, delightfully quirky and beautifully presented property with superb, far-reaching views over the Cheviot Hills and the rivers Whiteadder and Blackadder.
The overall feel is very much of a unique home that has evolved over the years bursting with character and interesting pieces at every turn. Original artwork, unusual objets d’art and pieces collected on the owners’ travels grace the rooms including an impressive collection of spheres which appear in many guises throughout the house. Attractive antique furniture sits alongside bespoke contemporary pieces, bold rugs and cosy plaid throws.
There is ample space for families and large groups with a huge, light-filled open plan living area, a pretty breakfast room, a cosy snug and a TV room / playroom.
There is plenty of wet weather entertainment with two TV rooms, a piano and sheet music for budding musicians, a state-of-the-art sound system in the main living area, a PlayStation 2 and an extensive DVD library, books and board games.
The individually-styled bedrooms – two king, one twin and two single - are beautifully presented in muted, restful tones with splashes of colour from pretty fabrics, cosy tweed blankets, eye-catching original artwork and delightful quirky touches such as the original French railway signs rescued during the war.
Outside is a pretty, mature garden with plenty of lawn for children to play. A west facing terrace with outside seating and barbecue is a delightful spot for watching the sun set over the hills whilst dining al fresco in the summer months.
Whitehall West Lodge offers guests the best of both worlds. There is excellent walking and cycling from the doorstep around the field margins and woods of the surrounding Whitehall Estate and along the river Whiteadder which runs close to the house. The rural setting is peaceful and yet the house is within walking distance of Chirnside and Allanton both of which have excellent pubs. There is also a small Co-op supermarket in Chirnside and fine dining at Chirnside Hall just outside the village. Fishing permits are available from the Allanton Inn to fish the River Whiteadder which is within walking distance of the house. The legendary Tweed is only a fifteen minute drive. The dramatic Berwickshire coastline and the rugged scenery of the Lammermuir Hills is all within a 20 minute drive. Accommodation

A good quality temporary bed is available on request for an additional guest. There is a fee of £35 for 1 to 4 nights and £50 for 5 nights or more.
Wi fi and mobile coverage
Wi fi is available throughout the house. There is adequate mobile coverage on most networks.
The beds are made up with excellent quality Egyptian cotton bed linen and feather and duck down duvets and pillows. A hair dryer is supplied in the master bedroom. Luxurious bath sheets and hand towels are provided for all guests. Arran Aromatics guest toiletries are also provided.
Babies and children
Two travel cots and two high chairs are available on request.
Garden and grounds
Whitehall West Lodge is set in a delightful, mature garden with plenty of space for dogs and children. Please note that the garden is not fully-enclosed. There is a terrace with an outside dining area and a charcoal barbecue. There is ample private, off road parking for 3 / 4 cars.
A welcome pack is provided.
Whitehall West Lodge can be taken on a purely self-catered basis, or a cook is available throughout guest’s stay, for breakfasts or dinners only or to provide one-off celebratory meals for a special occasion. A homemade meal delivery is available which is popular for guest’s first night and wine delivery is available in conjunction with renowned wine merchants Corney & Barrow.
Two well-behaved dogs are welcome. Owners are requested to keep their dogs downstairs and out of the bedrooms.
A generous initial supply of logs is provided.
