A superb Grade II listed Georgian house offering immaculately presented accommodation with ample space for families and large groups. The house is situated in an excellent location close to a charming small village with a good pub and just four miles from Alnwick and Northumberland’s stunning beaches.
There is ample entertaining space with an elegant drawing room, atmospheric dining room, delightful country-style kitchen with adjacent snug, office / library and plenty of space for the storage of outdoor kit in the boot room and utility room.
Upstairs there are two bath / shower rooms and six bedrooms; 5 doubles (two of which can be twin on request) and a bunk room. The principal bedroom accommodation is at one end of the house where there are four bedrooms and a recently modernised family bathroom. Accessed by a separate staircase is a further two double bedrooms and a shower room.
Outside the impressive gardens are fully-enclosed for the safety of dogs and children. There’s an outside dining area with barbecue, a south facing garden to the front and a west facing walled garden. Guests are welcome to help themselves to the produce in the owner’s impressive vegetable garden. Extensive outbuildings include kennels and four stables (horses are welcome for an additional fee) and plenty of space for the storage of outdoor kit. There is also a superb barn which is set up as a games room and is ideal for rainy day entertainment. It can also be used as a party venue to seat around 40 guests for which there is an additional fee.

Wi fi and mobile coverage
Wi fi is available. There is adequate mobile coverage on most networks.
The beds are made up with good quality bed linen, feather and duck down duvets and pillows. A hair dryer is supplied in each double bedroom. Luxurious bath sheets, hand towels and face cloths are provided for all guests. Guest toiletries are also provided.
Babies and children
A travel cot, high chair and stairgates are available on request. There are also children’s toys at the house that guests are welcome to use. Babysitting can be arranged.
Garden and grounds
Rennington House sits within an acre of gardens including a south facing garden to the front and walled garden and courtyard to the side. An outside dining area and barbecue are available. The owners have a wonderful veg patch and guests are welcome to help themselves to vegetables! There is ample private parking.
Extensive outbuildings (including kennels for dogs) are available to guests for the storage of outdoor kit.
Barn - games room or party venue
There is a fabulous barn in the grounds which is usually set up as a games room for guests' use and is ideal for rainy day entertainment. This can be made available as a party barn for an additional fee. It will easily seat up to 40 guests and is a fun space that can be transformed for either adult or children’s parties. We can provide details of a local catering hire company to provide chairs, tables, crockery, cutlery and glasses.

Catering at Rennington House is entirely flexible. The house can be taken on a purely self-catered basis, or a cook is available throughout guests’ stay, for breakfasts or dinners only or to provide one-off celebratory meals for a special occasion. A homemade meal delivery is available which is popular for guest’s first night and wine delivery is available in conjunction with renowned wine merchants Corney & Barrow.
Two well-behaved dogs are welcome at Rennington House. Owners are requested to keep their dogs downstairs in the utility room, boot room and kitchen only. Outdoor kennels are also available on request.
There are four stables available to guests wishing to bring their own horses for an additional fee. Please note that grazing is not available at this time.

Situated in the heart of ‘Percy Country’ the property enjoys a rural location but sits just four miles from the medieval market town of Alnwick, home to the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens. You will find an excellent range of amenities here and an eclectic mix of specialist shops and high street stores. Wander the cobbled streets and gift shops around the marketplace or stop-off at one of the many quaint cafes across the area, including Bari Tea based in the Castle Quarter for a very lovely lunch or a decadent afternoon cream tea! Seek out Barter Books - ‘a book heaven’ with thousands of paperbacks, hardbacks and collector’s editions based in a beautiful former railway station, or pop into the super Bakehouse Gallery showcasing the work of local artists and designers.
For provisions, you will find plenty of choice - try award-winning Turnbull’s for fine food and quality meats; The Cheese Room at Alnwick Deli for delicious local cheeses, produce, hampers and gifts; or the Alnwick Bakery for home-baked breads, pies and pastries. There is a market every Saturday, a farmer’s market on the last Friday of every month, and a large supermarket nearby for all your holiday essentials.
Just a five minute walk from Rennington House, The Horseshoes Inn is a cosy pub, featured in the Good Beer Guide for the last two years, with a great reputation for friendly service, an excellent local menu and fine selection of real ales. For a dining experience with a difference, the Treehouse Restaurant at Alnwick Gardens set within one of the world’s largest treehouses, is not to be missed. Set high in the treetops, it is a magical spot to spend an evening, featuring local fish and seafood, meats from Northumberland’s farmlands, as well as other regional specialities all within a lovely ambient setting. Alternatively head to the pretty fishing village of Craster (4.5 miles) to sample some of the legendary oak smoked kippers or salmon from L Robson & Sons, or the Jolly Fisherman pub, famous for its crab sandwiches and mussels.
The house is conveniently placed for access to the main A1, and there is a direct and regular rail link to Newcastle from Alnwick for a city day out.
The location of Rennington House means that it is incredibly well placed for exploring this outstanding area. A short ten minute drive will take you to the spectacular sandy beaches of the Heritage Coastline where you can enjoy all kinds of pursuits from simple beach strolls to high energy adventures.
The beautiful scenery at Craster (4.6 miles) is a haven for photographers and artists who are drawn by its dramatic coastline, colourful fishing boats and rich birdlife of the area’s coastal nature reserves, while the walks around Craster regularly feature in the top ten coastal walks in the UK. Walk or cycle along the flat shoreline where the skeletal fingers of Dunstanburgh Castle jut dramatically towards the skyline, take in the wonderful views over towards the Farne Islands seabird colony, explore the sheer diversity of the landscape on a coastal walk from nearby Howick to Cullernose Point, or discover the hidden cove of Rumbling Kern once used as a cache for whisky smuggling and bootlegging.
Embleton Bay (4.7 miles) and Low Newton-by-the-Sea (5.8 miles) covers a breathtaking stretch of silver sands just perfect for families, children and dogs where you can spend endless hours paddling, sandcastle-building, walking, surfing and body-boarding. The Northumberland Coastal Path and National Cycle Route 1 runs right through this area taking in never-ending beaches all the way along to Beadnell Bay, one of the best equipped places in the county for watersports. Backed by huge dunes which offer shelter for a cosy picnic on blustery days, the wide, golden sands of this horseshoe shaped bay make it a popular destination for families. You can try kitesurfing, bodyboarding, coasteering and kayaking with a number of accredited schools and instructors across the area, and the bay offers excellent conditions for wakeboarding and waterskiing. Jetskis and boats can be launched here, and there are a number of diving and snorkeling clubs with a host of popular dive sites close by including the wreck of the Somali, a ship that was bombed in 1941.
A short drive will take you to the charming village of Alnmouth with its brightly painted houses nestled along the bank of the North Aln Estuary, while a drive a little further south will take you the the RSPB reserve of Coquet Island where you can take a boat trip from the docks of Amble Harbour.
For golf fans, there are scenic courses at Dunstanburgh, Foxton, Alnmouth, and Alnwick while fishing enthusiasts can cast a line on the River Aln with permits available locally.
