In town for a concert at Rupp
Once we parked, we walked everywhere we could. The property was extremely accessible and there was plenty of safe street parking on Fayette. Extremely close walk to Rupp. A perfect place to stay for 24 hours in Lexington
It was a quaint little space and perfect for me. Barry was most excellent in responding to all my questions.

it was hard to find, and as I was travelling alone, I felt the surrounding area was unsafe. A block away there were Pawn shops and homeless people leaving a negative impression. I was even approached when I stopped at the local WalMart by a homeless beggar. I didn't like walking through an alley to get to the room, but at least it was well lit. The room was clean and well equipped, (except a toaster would have been a nice addition. ) A room for one, as it was smaller than I had pictured. There was no restaurant within walking distance that I would have even considered. Going downtown was a nice area... not walkable for me, and even with that, hard to find parking close to restaurants I might have tried otherwise if it wasn't dark. The TV was hard to figure out, and had to be re-set by the owner after it wasn't working right for me. All in all, I would not stay there again. However, the owner was extremely nice and answered my questions. It just wasn't described accurately considering I explained my situation as travelling alone and looking for a safe environment.
Betsy- Not sure how the property was hard for you to find because the space is in a 3-story historic Victorian home located on one of the main roads leading into downtown Lexington. All guest use Google Maps or Waze and have had zero issues locating the property.
I researched pawn shops in the area and the nearest Google provided was Good Will and the Salvation Army, both over a mile away from the house. Perhaps you meant the Pay Day Advance business? If that is the establishment you are referring to, there has never been any issues in the neighborhood and the business donates supplies to local schools and nonprofit agencies. The business is respected in the community.
Unfortunately, homelessness is an epidemic that has plagued the United States and other parts of the world. Homeless people tend to gravitate to the downtown areas in most cities around the U.S. Luckily, there are several organizations around Lexington that provide amenities for them. The Hope Center for men is one of the nonprofit agencies that does this. They are located about 1.5 miles away from my property. Most of the men are getting back on their feet and ready to work within a year.
The Walmart you chose to shop at is located about 2 miles from the property. Shopping center parking lots do have a plethora of people in and out daily. This does not reflect my property in the least.
Regarding the alley you stated you had to walk through, there is also the option of walking on the street. All of the homes surround this area are values at $500k or greater. For being in the downtown area, this area is extremely safe and crime is minimal. The pictures to the room are extremely accurate in depicting the size of the space. The television was an easy fix; you had turned the main tv set off of channel 3 which is the channel most cable boxes need to be on in order to operate.
Thank you for the complement of me being nice. All of my ratings on VRBO and Airbnb are exceptional. I do my best to ensure my guest have an amazing experience in my home. I have called this place I love my home for almost 17 years now. In all these years I have never once heard someone call this historic neighborhood unsafe.
Lastly, if you do choose to stay in another person’s home, I recommend you not take or lose any of the owner’s belongings (extension cord), as this makes it inconvenient for the next guest and the owner. I am glad you enjoyed the snacks I provided for you during your stay. Perhaps lodging in a hotel will best meet your needs.
Just passing through and would definitely make this a stop through again. The room was extremely comfortable. So much we overslept. Anything you need is walking distance. Definitely a five star place.

Better than imagined
The beautiful apartment which was cozy and beautiful designed was also walking distance to downtown. We loved enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning in the garden and this morning we enjoyed walking around the neighborhood gazing at the gorgeous homes while enjoying a cup of joe. I only wish we could have stayed longer. The pictures don't do the apartment justice! And Barry who we met in passing was kind and welcoming, and gave us great recommendations to eat for breakfast.
I enjoyed having you two! Please visit again!
Home Away From Home!
My first VRBO booking has set the bar so high! Barry was very easy to work with and his place is absolutely beautiful. Beautiful is an understatement!!! His hospitality is amazing, with thoughtful amenities and extras that the average traveler may forget (i.e. snacks, plates, silverware and even bathroom toiletries). Overall, such a great place to stay. I will be booking this place again with Barry on my next trip to Lexington, KY!!!
