Two bedrooms with lake, woodland and mountain views, idyllic situation

This is a self catering holiday home and supplies all utilities and requirements needed, including a satellite TV and broadband internet. It has a double and a twin bedroom and an open plan kitchen and living room which leads onto the balcony. It is also very suitable for younger children with safety gates on the stairs and location away from the road. Parking is available in the private courtyard.

About Robin Sowerby

My wife and I are both teachers, I am a Biologist and my wife is a Primary school teacher. We travelled the world teaching, leaving England with one baby boy and ultimately returning home with two boys ready to go to university. We now live back here full time, my wife teaches and I divide my time between writing and running a local business. I was brought up in this area so I know the region and as a biologist and keen naturalist it is the perfect location for me. As our family grew we needed a larger house so we bought another property 10 minutes away, the region is so picturesque we did not want to move elsewhere. However we all love Challan Hall Mews and could not bear to sell it so we have decided to let others have the benefit of this charming cottage and stunning location.

Why Robin Sowerby chose Lancaster district

We bought this house as a beautiful retreat to come back to whilst we worked abroad. The location was perfect; it is so safe we once left a window open when we returned overseas without experiencing a problem. The position is idyllic; within a couple of minutes you can be walking through ancient woodlands, the surroundings are protected as an area of outstanding natural beauty and a variety of different conservation organisations manage nature reserves here.

There are a range of local pubs and restaurants which are very welcoming and friendly so you can get out and enjoy yourself and it is within easy drive of the Lake District, Yorkshire dales and many picturesque villages. The historical city of Lancaster is not too far away and as the village train station is within walking distance you don’t have to drive if you want a night out in town. We would love to welcome you to enjoy this delightful corner of England.

What makes this cottage unique

All the rooms are beamed which can draw you back to a different time and this combined with the tranquillity of the setting allows you to unwind and forget work for a while. Relaxing on the balcony watching the wildlife or just looking at the changing colours of the lake and woodlands as the sun moves across the sky, toasting the sunset with a glass of wine, eventually marvelling at the stars as they fill the sky, these are some of the delights you can experience without leaving.

Excellent Proptery

After long struggle I decided to stay this place, and my first impression is WOW!!. The place is so beautiful with lake view from balcony. The property is very clean and tidy. Almost all the amenities described in the property was provided. The owner is very polite and very professional.

We had very pleasent stay at the property and I highly recommended anyone like to visit around lake district.

Great place to stay

After a long journey, arriving at Nature Lovers Paradise was a massive relief. Can be tough choosing a place online based solely on photos and in this case we chose right. Very relaxing stay in a gorgeous setting with all the necessary amenities and within striking distance of loads of stuff to see and do. Will definitely return.

Hidden paradise

Words cannot justify the accommodation or its location ......had a lovely and relaxing holiday which was made extra special by having this amazing , spotless property full of all possible amenities in a beautiful location.

The host was easily and readily available via phone which was a huge plus. Already looking forward to staying in this accommodation next year

Peaceful place to recharge your soul.

Better than expected and the property was clean and had loads of room. The kitchen and the lounge at the top of our cottage (not all of them have the same layout) was a superb experience. The view from the balcony was also excellent overlooking a small lake and will recommend the place to family and friends. Places like Morecambe Bay and Windemere etc. are easy travelling distance from the property. There are good walks if you are a hiker. Also, if you prefer not to drive all the time, there is train station at Silvedale approx. a mile away.

Lovely, clean, homely, amazing setting on nature reserve - ideal for kids adventures!

This property provided a great place to have a cosy break in stunning surroundings - perfectly well equipped and spotlessly clean, I am fussy and thought the combination of homeliness and high standard of cleanliness fitted the bill, very well priced for what you get and Robin is full of advice should you need any guidance. We will be back!

Wonderful stay!

Four of us stayed very comfortably in this lovely home. There was lots of space in the lounge/kitchen and everything you would need. The views from the balcony really are amazing and you feel as if you are isolated even though Silverdale is a five minute drive away. Communication was easy and we had no issues with access or deprture. We had no complaints and a wonderful time and would stay again.

Challan Hall Mews is a country house situated in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty of Silverdale and Arnside. The location is well known for its nature, wildlife and its breath-taking views. This can all be captured from the home's large peaceful balcony which overlooks Lake Hawes Water and plenty of picturesque woodlands and hilltops. Just next to Challan Hall is a pathway through a nature reserve to the beautiful Hawes water, which leads on to the nature reserve of Gait Barrows. Here both rare butterflies and wild flowers are a speciality along with very good bird watching. Within walking distance is the R.S.P.B. bird reserve, often featured on television for its extensive variety of wild life. In addition to the many nature reserves and walks surrounding the property there are plenty of local attractions including Arnside, Morecambe Bay, Silverdale Gold Club and numerous rural villages to visit including Kirby Lonsdale. Not far away are the historic city of Lancaster and the town of Kendal, gateway to the lakes. The Lake District National park is within easy reach and the Yorkshire dales can be visited as a day trip. The area is an ideal rural retreat where you can get away from it all, just relax on the balcony and take in the views over a glass of wine, take in the silence at night apart from the hooting of the owls and be amazed at the star scape which appears overhead. For the more energetic you can walk through the woodlands and diverse landscapes available on your doorstep or cycle along the country lanes. If you wish to explore further afield you can also use this as a base to discover the Lake District or the Yorkshire dales.
