About Russell Gillespie

My family and I fell in love with these Lodges when we first came to stay here in May 2014.

Little did we know that such a holiday would turn into such a wonderful life changing experience - that we would end up taking over this established business from the previous owners and continue in their footsteps, all in under a year!

As a family we have always loved the idea of getting away to an idyllic retreat by a lake in the mountains, and we found it here.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Lodges, and hope you enjoy the experience just as much as we do!

Great Lodge, Stunning Views, Total relaxation!

  • 5 of 5

Just arrived home from a long weekend staying at the Rainbow Lodge at Glengoulandie with friends. On arrival the first impression you have is the setting, the lodge sits right on the Lochan, and has amazing views of the surrounding hills, including Schiehallion, with red deer grazing on the hillside opposite the lodge. There are birds and wildlife aplenty, enough to suit even the most ardent naturalist.

The lodge itself was beautiful, well maintained and equipped, with loads of space and great views from the living area window out over the lochan. Each bedroom has a large en-suite bathroom, the bedrooms are well-separated providing good privacy. The balcony is literally right over the edge of the lochan, we had a family of swans visit us several times as we sat outside.

Russell and Sandy had left a welcome pack to start our stay off, and a nice surprise of a bottle of wine and a sizeable pack of assorted biscuits.

The aim of our break was for relaxation, so we didn't venture out too far, but it was mission accomplished. We had a quiet stroll around the area, it was so peaceful, the only drama experienced was with the wildlife, the ducks squabbling and the swans protecting their cygnets! The lodge is situated in a stunning area, a short walk or drive will take you to some of the best scenery Scotland has to offer.

We met Russell and Sandy who were very keen to make sure we enjoyed our stay, which we did, 100%

I would wholeheartedly recommend these lodges to anyone who values peace and quiet, great accommodation and stunning surroundings!

This was our third visit to Glengoulandie Lodges and again another fantastic visit.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Rainbow Lodge for 4 nights, 2 adults, 2 18 year olds, a 15 year old and a 13 year old. It was our third visit to the lodge and our best yet. Russell and Sandy have 3 beautiful lodges in a lovely, peaceful location. This was our first trip in April, (we have been here in February and August) and it truly is a perfect location in Spring. The lodge is immaculately clean and you really feel you are in a home from home. I would highly recommend these lodges. Russell has good tips on where to visit if you need advice, there are numerous lovely walks and the scenery is outstanding. The lodges are on the edge of a small loch with ducks, swans and other wildlife, all interesting to watch. We will be back again very soon. Thank you very much Russell and Sandy. Perfect Breakaway!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 3rd year staying in Rainbow Lodge and as usual it was warm, clean and very well presented, with the lovely addition, this year, of a wonderful wood burner! It is in a beautiful location, right by a small Loch, surrounded by hills. The owners, Sandy and Russell are quick to respond to any queries and leave some lovely goodies in their welcome pack. We would recommend The Three Lemons Restaurant and the Watermill tea room in Aberfeldy and a visit to Windows shop on the Main Street is a must. The nearby Highland Safari is very good and their tearoom is excellent.

Outstanding!

  • 5 of 5

This property and it’s owners can not be faulted. Russell and Sandy deserve so much credit for presenting such a bueatiful and well appointment lodge in what has to be one of the best locations you could imagine. From our lovely welcome pack to all the help with ideas for days out both Russell and Sandy were so helpful during our stay. We were so sad to leave which is a testament to its quality but feel so lucky to have experienced all the property and the sorrounding area has to offer.

Fantastic Lodge in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We spent christmas with my parents at this beautiful lodge and had a dream holiday! So much love and care has been put into the place that you feel at home as soon as you walk in the Door(with a welcome pack and milk waiting for us). Spending Christmas Eve in front of the cosy Wood burner and watching the Deer,Swans and Ducks from the Living room were just a few highlights for us. The Kitchen was well equipped and the whole Lodge spacious. It was so peaceful and the perfect place for a relaxing holiday with shops just a short drive away.

I am normaly happy to give any constructive criticism to help improve a place but i can honestly say that Russell & Sandy(the owners) do not need it, they have done a fantastic job and we will hopefuly be back next year(this time for more than a week).
