It has a large pool (12x6m) surrounded by 7 hectares of olive groves and woods. It looks both ways along a beautiful unspoilt valley with wonderful views especially to be enjoyed either from the pool or on the terrace at sundown. Pisa is 40 minutes away, Florence is 60, the seaside is 40 minutes away and Lucca town centre is just 15 minutes.
The house is laid out on 3 floors and has been decorated in typical Lucchesia style with old terracotta floor tiles, coloured walls and wooden furniture.
An ideal Tuscan location to enjoy everything that Italy is good at: food, culture and natural beauty.
I had the chance to spend 2 weeks holiday with my wife and 3 children in Orfeo and am pleased to suggest anyone to do the same. We had the best time ever at that wonderful house. I wish we can walk again along the cosy streets in the elegant centre of Lucca, enjoy the beaches in Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio, attend festivals in Pietra Santa, visit Pisa or simply have fun in the pool with the unrestrained kids. My brain is quite scrambled by Orfeo beautiful settings, views, elegant and fully comfortable rooms and wind in the pine trees! All care and communication received by the kind landlord made it feel very nice for us to be there. We will be back.
We had a terrific family holiday at Orfeo. The villa is spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. The owner has equipped the house thoughtfully with everything a family could need on holiday. There is a vegetable plot in the grounds of the villa where we picked delicious tomatoes, courgettes and onions each day and there is a a wood fired oven at the side of the house for those adventurous enough to try a more traditional way of cooking. The villa is an excellent base from which to explore the Tuscan countryside, and we even visited Florence and Sienna during our stay. We did much of our shopping in the nearby town of Lucca and twice hired bikes which we cycled around the walls of the town. There are also plenty of good restaurants there to try out. Most of all we enjoyed our afternoons relaxing by the gorgeous pool, with no noise but that made by our children!!
What I loved about this amazing place was that we felt like we were in middle of nowhere and had the world to ourselves. It is such a pleasant feeling relaxing around the pool surrounded by Tuscan olive groves and natural forest.
And yet it only took a ten minute drive to reach the centre of vibrant bustling Lucca, overflowing with stunning sites and impressive history - not to mention incredible Italian food! Oh the food!
We had such a great time and can't wait to go back one day, and I'm definitely going to learn to make pizza so that we can try out the pizza oven.
