Comfortable and convenient

  • 4 of 5

We loved the house. It was cozy and comfortable, and convenient to town. We found the place clean and tidy. The owner was very responsive to our needs.

We would have appreciated having a washing machine and clothes dryer, but that wasn't a game-stopper since the owner guided us to a laundry on the edge of town. Enroute to the laundry we stumbled upon the most amazing 400 year old inn, Humble Pie, that was open for dinner serving traditional meat pies. Wow!

One suggestion would be to supply more toilet paper. We ran out and had to buy more at the co-op.

Overall, our experience was very positive and we'd return again. Thanks for a great place for our vacation in Whitby!

Lovely, conveniently located cottage

  • 4 of 5

Well equipped cottage in a lovely location. We stayed over the New Year period and thoroughly enjoyed it. Next to Fortunes Kippers it was ideal for quick access to the beach, the abbey and the shops as well as getting the kippers from next door!

Wonderful home.

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was great, the house was full of character and so peaceful. Can't find any faults at all, though a vacuum cleaner would have been handy to tidy up .Its just a lovely house and was spotless and would recommend it, also with being on three levels we were not living on top of each other. So sorry to leave, and hopefully will return in the future, thank you for a wonderful stay.

Owner's Response: Hi. Glad you had a wonderful stay and loved our house as much as we do. There should have been a vacuum cleaner in the small cupboard under the stairs. Regards and look forward to seeing you again.

Lovely position

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage in a wonderful position, 2 adults and 4 teenagers bedrooms and bathrooms well set up. Slight kipper smell in the middle bathroom but actually having the smoking shed next door added to the charm. We had glorious weather which was a bonus. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

Car: not necessary

The traditional maritime town of Whitby, with its old cobbled streets, picturesque houses and sandy blue flag beach is a great place for a holiday or short break. Whitby is set among fine stretches of coast with spectacular cliffs, beaches and bays.

199 steps lead up from Henrietta Street to St Mary's church and the 13th century Abbey ruins which dominate the skyline on the East Cliff.

In the old town you will find yourself in a shoppers’ paradise. With an a selection of unique shops offering famous Whitby Jet jewellery, local crafts, maritime memorabilia and antiques, you are sure to find that holiday treasure.

For food connoisseurs, Whitby has it all. Award winning seafood restaurants, continental delights, traditional sea-shanty inns preparing locally cooked produce and olde worlde English tea rooms serving freshly baked pastries and Yorkshire teas.

Whitby is extremely popular with visitors throughout the year, and not just in the summer months. Many varied events are planned over the year, both in Whitby and the surrounding area. During the summer, Whitby Regatta and Whitby Folk Week, are probably the biggest, and most popular events to take place. In both Spring and Autumn, the Whitby Gothic Weekends have grown so hugely in popularity, that people travel from all over the world to attend. Check out the Dates for your calendar below.
