This sumptuous 18th century 1st floor apartment has an open-plan living room with three vast Georgian windows that look directly over the River Avon, Pulteney Bridge, the historic buildings of Bath and the rolling countryside beyond. It's a rare vantage point in the centre of this beautiful city, and with the soothing sound of water over the weir in the background, you could easily forget that you were in a city at all.
The building was designed by Robert Adam (c. 1790) and this magnificent apartment has been beautifully restored, retaining wonderful period detail along with luxurious contemporary adaptations. It is adjacent to the famous Pulteney Bridge, which is featured in many postcards and souvenirs and, like the Ponte Vecchio in Florence is lined with shops on either side. Everthing truly is on your doorstep in this city center property.
The large living area has two large comfortable chairs and a large sofa by a gas coal-effect fire. There is a TV with DVD and Wi Fi. The large round dining table set in front of the fabulous view, seats at least 6 and there is a cleverly designed kitchen under a curved mezzanine. Above this is another lounge area where you can enjoy music, reading, and that breathtaking vista while you listen to the water over the weir from below. This space has a double sofa-bed and can become an additional bedroom.
The handsome bespoke fitted kitchen has birch cupboard doors with mahogany inlay, granite worktops and top of the range appliances. There is an electric hob and oven and dishwasher. Elegantly concealed is a large fridge and separate freezer, a microwave and a washing machine and separate dryer.
There are two charming bedrooms. The master room has a king sized bed, chest of drawers and wardrobe. The second room has a pretty double bed, antique storage and a recently refurbished ensuite shower room with hand basin and wc. There is a large limestone tiled bathroom tucked under the mezzanine, with a bath, (with shower over) hand basin and wc.
Everything that this lovely historic city has to offer is within easy reach, the closest of which is the Bath Abbey, the Roman Baths, the Theatre Royal and the Therme Spa. There are many museums and galleries as well as a great choice of shops, bars and restaurants. Exploring on foot will lead to many wonderful discoveries and you will never be far from your beautiful retreat.
A parking permit is provided for one car to park in any of the resident bays around the property on a first come basis. Alternatively, the bus and train stations are less than a 10 minute walk.
This partner has demonstrated and is committed to fast response times, the best rates, and a great guest experience.
We would like to comment that the Argyle Riverview Flat surpassed our expectations in its size, quality and location. The view over the weir was amazing and the constant sound of the water restorative and calming. My 18 month old granddaughter loved watching the ducks and gulls from the windows .... that was certainly the best part of her holiday in Bath! The service from Bath Holiday Rentals was first class.

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this flat, we loved to location and amenities.
The Argyle River View apartment is the perfect location for exploring Bath. Our family loved it. The apartment is nicely furnished and decorated. We explored all of Bath, walking every day. We also took a day trip to Stonehenge which was fabulous. The apartment is lacking storage space in the kitchen for food items and we had to deal with lots of noise at 3 am on the weekends from young people partying near the bridge. That was most unfortunate. Other than that, great all around.
We stayed in several places in Bath before but this is definitely the best we have experienced.
We stayed here with 6 people in June, and for a weekend there was enough space for all. The location is really perfect and the view over the river lovely. The flat is very comfortable and everything was in good working order. It was a very authentic Bath experience to stay in such a lovely Georgian flat.
We were very grateful that Alexa & Sara were able to facilitate us with both an early check in and check out which made such a difference to our stay. Everything went smoothly with regards to booking, hiring portacots/highchairs, check in/out and deposits.
I would highly recommend this flat and would stay again.
The Argyle Riverview flat is a perfect starting point to tour Bath and the apartment views are spectacular. The apartment has plenty of room and all the necessary amenities. The street parking was always available close to the flat. We will definitely consider it again next time we are near Bath. Alexa was prompt and always willing to assist.
At the end of Pulteney Bridge you could not be any closer to the heart of Bath. A lovely apartment
Bath & the Best of the West!
The attractions of the World Heritage City of Bath, are well-known, but Bath is also a perfect base from which to explore the picturesque West Country of England. Located close to the M4 and M5 motorways, 1.5 hours by train from London and just over half an hour from Bristol International Airport, Bath is surrounded by several designated areas of outstanding natural beauty and many of the region's attractions can be reached within a short journey time from the city.
One firm family favourite is Longleat, owned by the Marquis of Bath and set in 900 acres of landscaped parkland. Longleat Safari Park is home to the famous Lions of Longleat and a full day of fun is guaranteed, as this attraction boasts not just the safari, but a maze, adventure park, Jungle Express and much more.
Heading slightly further west is the cathedral city of Wells with its narrow streets, abundance of historic buildings such as the moated Bishop's Palace and lively twice-weekly market. In the same direction you will find Cheddar Caves and Gorge where the world-renowned Cheddar cheese is made and the caves of Wookey Hole, home of the legendary Witch of Wookey – great for a rainy day underground adventure!
En route from Bath to Wells, you should not miss the mystical Glastonbury Tor, one of the most spiritual sites in the UK. Steeped in history and legend, the climb to the top is well worth the effort for the views across the Somerset Levels.
World famous Glastonbury Festival needs little introduction, however, it's always worth checking out what's on at The Royal Bath & West Showground on the outskirts of Shepton Mallet which hosts anything from antiques fairs to The Royal Bath & West Show.
To the south east of Bath lies Stonehenge, a majestic stone circle that has been the subject of much speculation ranging from how it was built to ceremonial significance. Audio tours are available on entry and it retains its magic whatever the season, but particularly around the summer and winter solstices. Around 25 miles away is Avebury, considered by many to be the most impressive of all remaining pre-historic earthworks in Europe.
For outdoor enthusiasts there is a wealth of walks, cycle rides and boating opportunities with cycle and canoe hire readily available. Bath is an ideal base for sporting aficionados, whether as spectators or participants when attending events such as rugby or football matches, Badminton Horse Trials, Castle Combe Circuit or perhaps taking a trip down to the coast where you will find Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, where the sailing events for the 2012 Olympics were held.
Last but by no means least, neighbouring Bristol with its iconic suspension bridge, floating harbour, SS Great Britain, vibrant street life and home to famous street artist, Banksy, should not be missed.
Whatever your taste, stay with Bath Holiday Rentals and our helpful, knowledgeable staff will assist you in planning your perfect stay in the West Country.
