Saint Victor is a traditional Cornish Bungalow/cottage, in Widemouth Bay near Bude, Cornwall. It has been our family’s holiday home for over 40 years. Keeping its traditional charm and character, we have recently brought it up to date to provide creature comforts, ensuring a relaxing and comfortable stay. With its generous living spaces and two bathrooms, Saint Victor accommodates up to 6 adults or 4 adults with 4 children. Please note that our changeover day is Saturday.
It is the penultimate property on a small, private no-through lane, opposite a small woodland. Situated on the edge of the village, it has a large garden, which offers complete privacy and good security with on-site parking for two cars.
The garden is mainly laid to lawn, making it perfect for enjoying outdoor games and relaxation, after returning from the beach. Overlooked by both kitchen and veranda, the spacious garden is ideal for families with children.
A short 5 minute walk away, the beach is large and sandy, offering something for everyone. Widemouth Bay is one of the top surfing beaches but also great for splendid sand castles, daring dams, adventurous rock pooling or just taking a stroll along the water’s edge.
Saint Victor offers three connected living spaces. These comprise of a comfortable, well equipped kitchen with views of the surrounding countryside, a large, beautifully furnished living room, as well as a fantastic conservatory, which are all perfect for relaxing and entertaining.
The large conservatory brings the garden into the home and so provides a light and comfortable space, all year round.Bifold doors allow this to be connected to the living room, forming an exceptionally spacious room. Both living room and kitchen - at the heart of the home - have wood burners. There is a collection of books and board games to enjoy with your friends or family, as well as a TV with DVD player, plus broadband.
There are two bathrooms: One with a shower, easily accessible after returning from the beach and plenty of space to get in and out of wet suits. The other is a family bathroom, which has a luxurious shower and a roll top bath to soak away all strains.
Saint Victor has three comfortable bedrooms. The master bedroom with a king size bed and sumptuous, white Egyptian cotton linen, leads onto the veranda. The second bedroom comprises a double bed, and the third contains a double bed and bunk bed. Beds in both rooms are again made up with high quality Egyptian cotton linens.
Within 5 miles to the south and north of the bay, there are remote coves and small beaches as well as spectacular cliff top walks along the National Trust coastal foot path, which passes through Widemouth Bay. The position of Widemouth Bay makes it a great base to explore the wild beauty of the North Cornwall/Devon Atlantic coast with its jewels of Tintagel, Boscastle and Clovelly, as well as the remote wilderness of Bodmin Moor to the south.
Widemouth Bay has a small, friendly shop only a short walk away. There you can buy excellent fresh fish, general groceries and freshly baked goods as well as the daily newspaper. Nearby, Bude (5 minutes drive away) has conveniently placed in-town Sainsbury’s and Co-op stores, as well as a larger Morrisons store on the outskirts. Waitrose offers a delivery Service to Widemouth Bay from their Holsworthy store. Within walking distance, there are also several local restaurants.
Please get in touch if you have any further questions.
Our family has owned Saint Victor for over 40 years. To ensure that it can continue to be enjoyed for many more years, we have brought it up to date, maintaining its character. Many generations, of adults and children, have loved spending time together in the very relaxed surroundings, so close to the sea.
Peter and Regine Anderson purchased this bungalow in 2000
Saint Victor is perfectly situated in North Cornwall, five minutes walk from the famous surfing beach of Widemouth Bay, near Bude in North Cornwall.
4 adults and 4 children under 4, had an amazing holiday in St Victor. The house and location are absolutely stunning ! There really isn't anything that could be improved. The garden is fully enclosed and level for children, the house has lovely finishing touches which makes it really feel like home. The property was spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained. Peter and Regine are very welcoming and the fresh scones are the perfect treat after a long trip. The outdoor shower is warm and perfect for rinsing off the sand after a trip to the short beach which is less than 5 minutes walk. There isn't anything that hasn't been thought of. We'll definitely return to St Victor!
St Victor is a truly lovely holiday home and a great place to relax. The house has everything you need, it was spotlessly clean and has very comfortable beds. It is very well equipped, with a peaceful garden and only 5 minutes walk from the beach.
We had an absolutely amazing stay: we were 3 couple with 2 little kids and the place was perfect, and even better than in the photos!!! Clean, cosy, comfy...it was great and we will definitely return. It has everything you need: the kitchen is well-equipped (nearly better than at home), everything is so well-looked after, the two bathrooms are great for 6 people, long evenings in the dining area or the living rooms are guaranteed.
Thanks so much... and we loved the scones upon our arrival, they were so yummy!
The property is clean, comfortable and well equipped with parking for 2 cars and the arrangements for arrival worked well. The weather was unseasonably cold for our stay in late April but the property is well heated. There is one unusual feature which is that one bathroom is in an outbuilding. This would be ideal for surfers or swimmers wanting to clean themselves before going into the bungalow itself. There is a range of nearby shops and restaurants of good standard, some within walking distance with more in nearby Bude.
There is one downside which is that the lane leading to the property is not made up but is fine as long as you drive slowly. The first bungalow in this lane looks a bit like a junk yard but it does not detract in any way from the high standard of property ID p1680092.
The property was very well maintained and renovated to a very high standard. The garden is lovely too, with views of the countryside, and you can even just about see the sea from the porch. We were very close to the family friendly beach of Widemouth Bay, just a few minutes walk away and the village is great for a relaxing and peaceful beach holiday. I would definitely recommend this property to my friends and family.
