Well located, spacious apartment with garage

  • 4 of 5

The owner arrived at the apartment a little before the agreed time (as did we). She gave us a very thorough explanation of all the apartment features, along with local maps and restaurant advice.

The apartment is located across the river from the old town area – which is visible from the roof-top terrace. The walk to town is about 5 minutes across the historic Roman bridge. Because it is not actually in the old town, access by car is much easier. There is on-street parking available, but not needed as the apartment has a large, lock-up garage on the first floor. The flight of steps up to the main level of the apartment are a bit longer than usual because of the garage height and quite narrow. There was no problem getting the bags up because they have built-in an electric lift (dumb waiter) which does all the work. There is also a chair lift on the staircase in case anyone has mobility problems.

The apartment has been recently renovated and they have done a great job of it. The living furniture is comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped (including dishwasher) and the main and en-suite bathrooms are well appointed. There is a small enclosed terrace attached to the kitchen (great for breakfast), and a large open terrace on the roof – with views across the river to the old town. The kitchen was stocked with all the usual condiments, the bathrooms provided with soap and shampoo, and there was also powder for the dishwasher and washing machine.

The TV has Spanish channels only. WiFi internet access is provided, but it is a wireless service. OK but a little slow (and very slow at busy times for the network).

The only issues we had were: (1) the lack of air-conditioning. We were there during a very hot spell of summer. Leaving the windows open at night was problematic as the road outside had light, intermittent traffic that went on well into the night. and (2) the small, firm main bed. We ended up sleeping separately in the main and second bedrooms. Neither of these issues were a major problem for us over the two days we stayed, but may grate a little more over a longer stay.

Overall, it is a good apartment and well located. It suited our purposes very well.

Very Near the Heart of the City

  • 4 of 5

The apartment is in an excellent position, just a short walk across the Roman bridge to the old city. The apartment is attractively decorated, well-furnished and well-equipped. Despite being near to a busy road, the apartment is very quiet and well insulated.

The private garage and the roof terrace are a bonus, although, when we were there, the weather was not good enough to enjoy the latter.

Claudia gave us a charming and helpful welcome to her lovely apartment and wonderful city.

Perfect Apartment across the River in a Quiet Area

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a quiet area yet close enough to walk to the main areas of Salamanca, this apartment is perfect. It's located on the other side of the river and just a few steps away from the Roman bridge. The apartment is ample and very modern. It's clean and the kitchen has very modern appliances. Everything you need to cook is available. Pots and pans, coffee maker, micro, frig, washer etc. there is a supermarket about a 8minute walk up the street. There is a great restaurant just a few doors away. The apartment also has a terrazzo with patio furniture so you can enjoy the warm sun and beautiful views. The area is quiet also and very safe. There is a garage attached to the apartment which makes it very convenient. Claudia is easy to work with and she is always available to answer any questions. I would highly recommend this apartment and visiting Salamanca.

Ideal location and excellent service

  • 5 of 5

On the apartment: it was true to the photos, well-equipped, and clean. It is in an ideal location to reach the old town, bike paths, and highways to visit other towns. The walk to the old town is easy and close. The upper deck is a delight on a sunny day, and we happily studied there a few days during our stay. Claudia is the best hostess, concierge, and landlord I have ever had. If there was even the slightest thing amiss, she had it addressed or serviced very quickly. I would hope to rent this apartment again when I return to Salamanca.

On Dining: Lots of great little restaurants over the bridge. Especially enjoyed La 21 Hoya on Calle San Pablo y and El Laurel on the same street. Did not have a meal we didn't like during our entire stay. Enjoyed making lunch our main meal, and looked for "el menu de día" at most places.

On Salamanca: What a spectacular city with so many sites and museums. Loved Casa Lis, and if you like cars, the car museum is quite the surprise in the extent of its collection and the history on each car.

Muy bien equipado y tranquilo

  • 5 of 5

Simply put: this place is awesome and the location is almost in the old center of the town, comfortable space, and wonderfully friendly host. I cannot recommend it highly enough for your stay in Salamanca. Also, Claudia was very helpful in pointing out some key spots in the city to hit. We'd come back to this beautiful place in this spectacular city. Gracias Claudia!
