What makes this villa unique

We think the property is an ideal setting, set in country side near fantastic vineyards and restaurants a short journey into the centre of Bordeaux, 1 hour drive to the beach and Arcachon, we think it's perfect.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a lovely stay in this beautiful home. The location was wonderful. We toured several local chateaus and tasted many fabulous wines of the region.

We enjoyed relaxing by the pool and preparing delicious dinners in the evenings.

We hope to visit again in the future?

Thanks for a sincere welcome and for sharing this lovely home for our vacation.

Well appointed villa in good location

  • 4 of 5

Modern property, well maintained by very welcoming owners who live next door. Nice attention to detail in provisions on arrival, collection of useful cooking ingredients to avoid buying. BBQ used a lot with starter quantities of charcoal and lighters.

Advice pre-visit on wine tours useful, proximity to Chateaux Smith Haut Laffitte a real bonus, lovely property, great setting and tour. Useful notes sent out beforehand on restaurants, local services and so on. A great start to our holiday planning.

Pool well kept and great to relax, or travel into Bordeaux, or tour around vinyards. St Emilion visit a must. We hired bikes, delivered to the property and collected afterwards. Gite we stayed in the following week in the Loire had bikes provided.

Walk to Boulangerie, Boucherie each morning, almond croissants a lasting memory!

Overall an excellent venue, charming host, excellent location and facilities.

Owner's Response: Dear Mike. Thanks very much for taking the time to provide such a detailed review of your stay at Villa des Pins Grand Cru, we are so pleased that you enjoyed the villa and exploring the surrounding area. Bike hire is a great option and I thought I should just explain the reason why they are not provided at the house, this is due to the fact that bicycles need regular and proper maintenance and therefore in the interest of the safety of our guests we prefer that these are provided by a company that specialise in this facility. Thanks once again and we hope that we can help with your holiday plans in the future. David & Tracy.

Everything you need!

  • 5 of 5

We were 5 adults travelling together. We received a very warm welcome and were taken through the house and shown all the essentials.

The house was great - 5 adults and we all still managed to have our own space. Being able to cook our own meals and enjoy the garden and pool was a bonus. The house is very well appointed, clean and in a leafy quiet location.

We would highly recommend this as a base if you are visiting the region.

Short break

  • 5 of 5

Property was excellent and the owner Gladys was very friendly and helpful - if we needed any information regarding what to do locally Frederic was on the ball and provided this quickly. A visit to the Smith Haut Lafitte wine bar for lunch is a must.

Wonderful place to stay in Bordeaux!

  • 5 of 5

We were three couples in our 50’s and spent ten days in the comfortable, well located and newly remodeled Villa des Pins Grand Cru. Each couple was able to enjoy the comfort and privacy of their own bedroom and bathroom. We were able to share breakfast every morning as well as late afternoon happy hours with music and wine in the comfortable, modern and very well equipped kitchen/dining room or the wooden deck in the charming patio.

The house owner, Gladys, is as nice, accommodating and helpful as an owner can be. Not only did she welcome us with a smile, a wonderful bottle of wine and a box of exquisite chocolates but she also offered to and washed our towels and bed sheets halfway through our stay.

On our first day we encountered the only negative moment of our entire 18 day vacation which would have been much worse if it wasn’t for Gladys. After dropping off our luggage, refreshing ourselves from a three and a half hour train ride from Paris to Bordeaux and picking up a rental car next to the train station, our car broke down in front of the driveway of the house as we were getting ready to head back to explore and have dinner in Bordeaux.

Gladys, who leaves next door, noticed we had been trying to move the car but were not able to do so. She came out, called and helped us communicating with the car rental company, then when they said they did not have any large cars to send us at that moment she put pressure on the company to send a car to take us back within an hour. When the car showed up, she went with two of us to the car rental company to “make sure we would be taken care of properly”. When we arrived, she argued with the lady at the counter for them to provide us at the same rate with a top of the line Mercedes Benz passenger van, which was more expensive but the only one available. She got it for us and we were able to save what would have been a wasted rest of the day and next morning.

Even though our stay was short and we had a lot planned in our busy scheduled, when we were home, we also managed to enjoyed morning street walks among several of the neighboring vineyards as well as our three minute drive to the nearest “boulangerie” to pick up fresh baguettes.

We will come back to the Bordeaux region and when we do, Villa des Pins Grand Cru will again be our home away from home. Can’t wait to see Gladys’ with her happy smile waiting for us again.

Autumn break

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely relaxing week at the villa. Villa was in a lovely quiet location but still only 20 mins from Bordeaux. Villa had everything we needed. Kids loved the pool which was heated. Gladys was very friendly showing us around the house when we arrived. We had requested some shopping for when we arrived as it was late arrival. Gladys did brilliantly. She even got sweets for the kids. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful property with lots of light and air

  • 4 of 5

A relaxing week among pine trees and beautiful gardens and a great pool. Really well equipped kitchen and convenient to get out and about as long as you had a car. Gladys was a great help and gave us several locals' tips only problem was - too much to do and not long enough to do it!!
