This is a wonderful countryhouse located on the outskirts of one of Mallorca's prettiest villages, Fornalutx. It overlooks olive terraces and breathtaking mountain scenery. The outdoors consist of a large terrace for outside dining, summer kitchen (both gas stove and bbq), pool area with sun loungers and mediterranean garden. Inside the house there is a comfortable lounge with large open fireplace, Satellite TV and DVD player and a light and airy dining room with oak table and chairs. There are 3 double bedrooms one en suite and a separate bathroom with bath. The master and 2nd bedroom have double matrimonial beds and the 3rd bedroom has two single beds. Central heating and internet.
Fornalutx is 10 minutes by car and provides restaurants and bars as well as a fabulous supermarket/delicatessen. A ten minute drive to Soller or the beaches. Perfect for Walkers and winter lets.
There is no doubt this place is set in a stunning location but - you don't get a view like this easily. Anyone renting this place should make sure they have a car that can deal with VERY steep single track dirt drive and a driver that has nerves of steel. Once you have conquered the drive then this is the ideal place to relax. The outdoor kitchen and pizza oven is the best part of the house. The owner is obviously keen on carpentry and there are some great pieces of furniture including the huge dinning table which is where you will spend a lot of time. When we were there there there was another guest... a very friendly cat who would loudly ask for breakfast in the morning :-) Fornalux is close but unless you are fit you will need to get in the car to visit. Its a lovely village with some great traditional restaurants. We also found some good local walks, again, this will need a certain level of fitness. The only problems were the oven in the kitchen didn't work but then we just stoked up the pizza oven. We never saw the owner but the managers were helpful on the first day. I would recommend this to intrepid friends who like a good walk, cooking at home, nature lovers and some serious relaxing!
This is a really lovely villa set on a terraced mountainside with splendid, far reaching views. The pool is small but blissful and the garden terrace has sunny and shaded areas to relax in. In fact it was so lovely that we were rather reluctant to venture away from it! The village of Fornalutx is a 40 minute stroll down the mountain and is well worth a visit. We often went for breakfast there before the sun made the return climb back up to the villa too hot! Look out for the route up by the steps from the village square.
We were intrigued by the wild goats often seen and heard near the villa and the eagles soaring above.
One note of caution; the approach road to the villa- typical of the area- is a winding, narrow and mostly rough track with dramatic views in places. You need to be a confident driver in a left hand drive car to manage it . The locals have no problems and we did get used to it. This shouldn't put anyone off because the road is worth it for such a stunning villa.
A wonderful two weeks - would return in a flash!
This fabulous mountain property is of an exceptionally high quality. It was clean, very well maintained and everything was as described, of a high quality and mostly in perfect working order. It is obvious that enormous care has been taking in the building of the house. The views are stupendous and it is really peaceful. We stayed with friends for a week in May, and really enjoyed the outside kitchen and pizza oven!. We were met by staff from the letting agency who guided us up into the hills to the property. Our only advice is that the kilometre long track is very steep, often unpaved and certainly not for faint-hearted drivers! Something to consider when choosing a hire car!!
Our only glitch was that the wifi wouldn't initially connect, but the agency staff worked hard to sort this out and the owner even visited to ensure everything was working OK. Full marks!
Rumoured to be one of the prettiest villages in Spain, Fornalutx is a group of honey coloured stone houses which cling to the foothills of the Majorcan north-west Tramuntana Mountains. Shops, bars and fabulous restaurants with balconies to watch the sun set over the olive clad hills can be found in the village.
It is truly a delightful place to explore with many walking routes starting and finishing in the area.
Soller, Port de Soller, Biniaraix, Llucalcari, Deia or Valldemossa are some of the nearer wonderful villages.
