Very Good!

  • 4 of 5

On arriving Mike and Julia gave us a very warm welcome and we were very pleased with the standard of the gite. There was plenty of space and the facilities were top class. The kitchen was fully stocked and having both a washing machine as well as a dishwasher was great. The pool was heated and we used it most days (even when the sun wasn't out) and Mike checked with us every day when we wanted the covers taken off and made sure that it was clean. The local stables were next door and a couple of the family had riding lessons whilst we were there. It was a 10 minute drive up to Sigoules for the local shops but that included a large pharmacy and supermarket. We had a great time there!

Fantastic accommodating hosts and a lovely place to base yourself to explore the local area . Lots of interesting places to visit within a short drive. Our large family thoroughly enjoyed it especially the days lounging by the pool. The house was very spacious and well equipped . Lovely bedrooms for all. Truly relaxing holiday and would love to return again .

Beautiful, spacious and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a week in Julia and mike's gite. 2 families: 4 adults and 5 children. The photos don't do this gite justice. It was comfy, spacious with all the home comforts. Julia and Mike live next door and are on hand if you need them but equally they really respect your holiday, they manage to combine the balance of being welcoming and friendly without being too close. We had an amazing time. Particular highlights were kayaking down the dordogne and visiting the local chateaux. Would definitely return. Thank you Julia and Mike

Wonderful, tranquil and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely fantastic stay in Bonnefin. The property is charming and comfortable, located in the quiet countryside. There is a lovely bakery in Singlerac and supermarkets nearby. With lots of historic villages and towns nearby, there is plenty to do locally and Bonnefin is also well placed to travel further afield to the more touristy parts of the Dordogne. The pool is lovely and easily accommodated all 8 of us. The two children on our stay had a wonderful time swimming and playing in the pool, as did we all - its a good depth and warm! There is a huge, well kept garden where we played cricket. The house has all the facilities we needed and was really quite lovely. The owners of the property Mike and Julie were just wonderful - friendly and welcoming and full of suggestions of things to do. One evening a few of us went to a nearby town on their recommendation for a get together in the village square and had a wonderful time and Mike and Julie had even saved them a table! They also recommended a lovely place for us to have a traditional French dinner one evening. I can't recommend Bonnefin highly enough - if you are looking for a lovely place to stay where you can cook, relax and play games, whilst still being close enough to visit towns and villages for sightseeing and eating out, with welcoming and helpful owners, this really is the perfect place!

Really beautiful place...quiet...relaxing...clean...

  • 5 of 5

I have to say that this was a fabulous place. MIke and Julia were quite welcoming and we loved their dog Coco, who also played with my chocolat lab, but the place was really clean, comfortable, spacious...and the pool was amazing. Loved the local sites.../everything is very close. No need to take long drives to have a great variety of activities. Really enjoyed our stay and would love to return. For those planning to do remote work, this is the only issue. Internet service was not too (not owners fault) and no cell service at all. Again, the area was limited. It makes it that much easier to enjoy a holiday break. Highly recommend...especially for large or two families.

Amazing gite in a fantastic location!

  • 5 of 5

The gite itself is modern and very spacious. There is plenty of land for games and exploring. The pool is amazing; big enough for everyone to get in, and around the pool there are plenty of sun loungers and tables/chairs. There is a barbecue next to the pool as well which means whoever is cooking can still be around everyone. Mike and Julie are brilliant; they will inform you of all of the markets nearby and any other activities you are interested in. Coco their dog is adorable and our stay wouldn't have been the same without her! There is a small shop, supermarket and bakery nearby which sell everything you need. We had the privilege of being invited to the village meal on our first night; this was by far the best night! We were treated to local wines and wild boar, live music and an amazing atmosphere!

There is a horse riding ranch opposite the gite, it is definitely worth a visit! They take you through the vineyards around the area and you don't have to be a confident horse rider, the horses are extremely well trained and will just follow each other. If your horse falls behind (ours did!) the man will talk to the horse and it will trot back into line.

Bergerac is the closest large town/city. It has a large river running through it which holds request boat rides, the men on the boat speak many languages so you won't miss out! There is a large market here too and many restaurants. Not far from Bergerac there are activities such as go karting, caving, quad biking, canoeing, wine tasting. The canoe trip was amazing; you are dropped off down the river and you make your own way back to the canoe place. You have to get out of the canoes twice on the way so you avoid the locks but this makes it ever more fun.

I highly recommend this gite; everything was fantastic!
