About the property

A Spacious, Newly Refurbished 3 Bedroom, 2 shower-room Beach Apartment

This beautiful apartment is situated directly on the beach and enjoys panoramic views of the Mediterranean and Bandol from every room and, of course, the terrace.

There are three good sized double bedrooms (1 double bed and 2 twins), a fully fitted kitchen, a family shower-room, an en-suite WC and shower-room and a separate WC.

All modern facilities are provided and there is a washing machine in a separate private utility room.

There is on site parking.

The apartment is on the lowest of five floors, directly on the beach, at the foot of a cliff. Access to both the beach and the car park is by way of an internal staircase in the building and there is a bit of a climb to the top. The property is therefore not suitable for people of limited mobility.

About Nicholas Hill

I bought this apartment as a holiday home in 2000 but I soon fell in love with the region and decided not to leave - my wife and I moved to the property as our main home in 2004.

In 2008, as our family continued to grow, we moved to a villa in Bandol and the apartment was let to a professional family.

Our tenants left the property in January 2015 and we have decided to offer the property for holiday lets, to give others the opportunity to discover this beautiful region.

'Entre Ciel et Mer'. The great thing about this location is that you can have a bit of everything. Whether you prefer exploring historic towns and villages, visiting restaurants, lounging on the beach, grilling fresh sardines for lunch or getting involved in the many sporting activities available locally, you have a fantastic choice... or you can do it all.

What makes this apartment unique

Location, location, location!

You are directly on a sandy beach - early morning swim, afternoon swim, evening swim? Well, there's a choice!

If swimming is not your thing, Mum and Dad can enjoy a drink on the terrace while keeping an eye on the children on the beach a few metres away.

The climate is great all year round, with a long, hot summer and very temperate winters, when daytime temperatures can be as high as 18 or 19°C - the winter evenings can be chilly though, so bring pullovers.

Many visitors to the region prefer the months of May/June and September when it is warm and sunny but not as hot or as busy as in the height of summer.

Swimming in the sea is normally possible from May though to late September/early October.

As you might expect, the beach can get very busy between mid-July and late August but even then it is quiet until about 11 in the morning and after 7 in the evening.

A child-friendly gem

We stayed here for a week in May with two small children. We had such a super week at Nick's apartment - it was one of the most relaxing holidays we have had in a long time! It worked brilliantly for the kids - amazing child-friendly beach just down the steps, huge array of beach toys we could kindly borrow, DVD's etc. But it also worked brilliantly for us - the most stunning panoramic balcony to eat and drink on in the evening, a kayak we could borrow and comfy beach chairs to watch the kids. The apartment is spotless with two great showers, comfy sofas and everything you might need. There are great shops/restaurants within a 10 minute stroll in both directions of the property. We already miss that view and will be back!

A second stay...

After a great stay in June 2016, we spent a couple of mainly sunny January weeks in Nick's apartment. We love that it's so very close to the Mediterranean, and the views of the adjacent peninsula, the open sea and Bandol. There weren't as many boats in the bay but a few every day and a yacht race took place on the middle Thursday which was a bonus.

The apartment is well maintained with comfortable sofas - important for a winter stay. There was also sufficient heating for a winter stay. It was freezing occasionally overnight but the apartment soon warmed up in the mornings. There is a very good shower room and a smaller but more than adequate en suite. We hope to visit again in the future. Thanks, Nick and Samantha!

Absolutely beautiful - just perfect

Arrangements with the owners went very smoothly in the run-up to our holiday, but when we walked through the door and saw the amazing view from the huge, panoramic slide-back windows, we were completely 'bowled over'. We ate at home every night because we just wanted to make the most of the fantastic vista, and the kids swam every day. No problem finding room on the beach, even though we stayed in the middle of August, and the one day when we had quite high winds was more than compensated for by the fun we had 'body boarding'. The only small 'fly in the ointment' (quite literally) were the mosquitoes, although once we realised that we had to take precautions against the little critters we managed the situation well.

Much preferred Sanary Sur Mer to Bandoll for shopping and site seeing, and I hope we'll be coming back soon.

Thanks to Nick and Samantha - probably the best family holiday I can remember.

We loved the apartment and where it is. We had a wonderful holiday. Every window has a beautiful outlook, it was our ideal holiday and we hope to return. The owners and housekeeper were always pleasant and helpful.

Great location, in between Bandol and Sanary-sur-mer, 2 of our favourite towns in S France

The photos of the property and views are just as good in real life. The apartment is charming and perfect location for a morning swim in the bay, before coffee and croissants at the boulangerie 10 minutes down the road. We walked to both Bandol and Sanary for markets and evening dining. Both are about 30 mins walk. Having breakfast, lunch or dinner in the apartment with the bifolding doors open and the sound of the sea and beautiful views was perfect. The flights of stairs down to the apartment were just extra exercise!

A great spot between Sanary-sur-Mer and Bandol...

We rented Nick's attractively furnished apartment for two weeks earlier this month. It's within walking distance of both towns, with great views on the walk to Bandol. The view is also lovely from the apartment and, being just above the beach, it has a real holiday feel. If you like the idea of an early morning swim, you can be on the beach in the time it takes to walk down two flights of stairs and unlock a couple of doors. We were only two people but it would easily be spacious enough for four and fine for six. The way the apartment is designed, it would feel private for two couples as the bedrooms are on either side of the living room with a shower room in each area. Nick knows the area well should you have any queries and we enjoyed our chats with him on arrival and departure. It was helpful to know he and his wife were nearby and could be contacted by text/SMS. We'd like to thank Nick and Samantha for a great stay and to wish them well for the future.

The property is located directly on the beach at approximately 2.5 kilometres from the beautiful old fishing villages of Bandol and Sanary-sur-Mer.

There is a choice of waterside and other restaurants and quality convenience shopping (supermarket, butchers, bakers, wine store) within 1 kilometre and Bandol and Sanary-sur-Mer each offer a wide range of bars, restaurants and other facilities. In the summer season, .there are 'craft markets' every evening in both towns as well as an extensive programme of entertainment, much of which is free of charge. There are also many events held during the year in Bandol and Sanary, including the internationally famous Bandol Wine Fair, held annually on the first Sunday in December - check the Bandol and Sanary websites for up-to-date information.

Sanary-sur-Mer has a colourful provencal food market every day, which is a true delight.

Activities in the area include boat and yacht hire, scuba diving, golf, horse riding, fishing and much more.

Nearby, the medieval village of Le Castellet, with its restaurants, art galleries, craft shops and other attractions is well worth at least one visit and Toulon, with its pedestrianised old town, and Marseille, the European City of Culture in 2013, have lots to offer to visitors.

Slightly further afield, Aix-en-Provence attracts visitors from all over the world and explorers can easily visit Avignon, Arles, Nimes and other historic locations in the region.
