Guests are provided with one allocated parking space with security post which is located just a 5 minute walk away in Porthminster Terrace. Guests may use the space outside the entarnce of the property to unload belongings before moving their vehicle to the allocated space.You may find that you choose not to use your car during your stay as there is just so much to see and do within walking distance of this luxury apartment.

Chy an Porth

Chy an Porth is a delightful and historical building ideally located on The Terrace overlooking Porthminster Beach. Now sympathetically converted, there are 8 apartments over 4 floors with a selection of one, two and three bedrooms, with either terrace or balcony some with lovely views across Porthminster Beach and beyond to Godrevy Lighthouse. Fitted and furnished to an extremely high standard they offer five star self catering for the discerning visitor to Cornwall. Allocated parking is provided offsite, with just 5 minutes stroll to town.

Chy an Porth is a short walk away from St Ives town, just meander through the cobbled streets and discover unique shops and art galleries around very corner. A choice of beaches are on your doorstep, the working harbour offers constant entertainment for all ages. Looking for fine dining? The award winning Porthminster Beach Cafe is just a stroll away. These stylish St Ives holiday apartments provide guests with the perfect opportunity to enjoy the UK's favourite coastal resort.

One allocated off site parking space within in a short walk, guests are able to unload at the property and then leave their vehicle in the parking space.

The land where Chy an Porth now sits was part of the Manor of St Ives and Treloyhan. From 1834 it was owned by the Honourable William Pole Tylney Long Wellesley, 4th Earl of Mornington and a nephew to the Duke of Wellington. The land is shown from this time in local and County Records as ‘garden’.

In 1883 the current owner of the Estate, Henry Richard Charles Wellesley granted a 99 year Lease to Leslie Stephen who covenanted to build a house for ‘not less than £1000 within 20 years’. Lesley Stephen was the Father of Virginia Woolf. By 1889 Local Records show that the house had been built and was the residence George Thomas Albert Staff, Physician and Surgeon, and Medical Officer of Health.

The 1901 Census shows Allan Deaton, an Artist, as residing at Chy an Porth with his family and 4 servants.

Chy an Porth in 1911 then became home to another Artist, Moffat Peter Lindner and his family until his subsequent death in 1949. We believe that he was very much part of the St Ives artists, but of the group that preceded the Moderns of Wallis, Nicholson and Hepburn etc.

After 1949 the property became the home of Mr and Mrs Pierce both of whom were stalwart members of the St Ives community, both separately were Mayor of St Ives and Mrs Pierce was also a Magistrate.
