This contemporary new villa, chosen for its perfect location and 180 degree sea view and set amongst the banana and sugar cane fields was completed October 2014. Facing South West you can enjoy all day sunshine, stunning sunsets and moonlight panoramas. Designed for couples seeking both privacy and luxury, the apartment and grounds offer space for you to relax and unwind, or for the more energetic, why not walk the Levada Nova which is close by. Located between Ponta do Sol and Ribeira Brava and with easy access to the rápida motorway, its central coastal location is perfect if you want to explore the whole island.

The apartment is on the upper floor and provides self-contained accommodation with an en suite king size bedroom and living area. The whole apartment enjoys a spectacular sea and coastline views through large sliding doors that lead out to a private patio with infinity swimming pool below. Guests have exclusive use of the pool and patio on the ground floor to enjoy a swim or a drink after a hard day discovering the island. The open plan sitting, dining room and kitchen is fully equipped with W-iFi and modern appliances for your every need. The back of the villa has a patio with views over the garden and mountain beyond to enjoy the tranquil romantic surroundings. The ground floor provides our own accommodation, we look forward to welcoming you and will be happy to provide any assistance you may need during your stay. Portuguese Tourist Licence No. 4673/AL (Alojamento Local).

Important notes

Guests are requested not to smoke inside the property. A car is advisable for seeing the many pleasures of Madeira although buses and taxis are available. There are two small flights of stairs from parking level to the apartment.

About Gary Flint

Gary and Glenys moved to live on this beautiful island in October 2014 attracted to the moderate climate, stunning scenery and generous friendly people.

Glenys’ career designing ladies knitwear for the fast paced fashion business involved extensive travelling to the Far East. Having always been interested in art I hope to pursue my passion to paint the inspirational flora, fauna and seascapes on the island. There may be some of my pieces hanging on the wall in Bela Vista Villa, I hope you enjoy them?

Wonderful views from a well-equipped and immaculately presented villa

Gary and Glenys made us most welcome and we felt like movie stars in this modern villa. It is well-equipped and spotlessly clean but the highlight has to be fantastic view.

The apartment is stunning. Very tastefully furnished with Italian leather sofas. Everything has been thought of. Everything screams quality. It’s one of the best we have ever rented in 16+ years of travelling. The location is just great. The views are breathtaking. The small coastal village of Ponto Do Sol is 5 mins away and has a cool relaxed vibe. There are excellent places to eat and lively bars.

Gary and Glenys are charming hosts and two of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. They are Ninjas. We hardly knew they were there. So helpful.

We highly recommend Nelson Lala the local taxi driver. He speaks perfect English, is a very nice man and nothing is too much trouble.

Total relaxation and a fantastic view

When booking our holiday in Madeira, Bela Vista was the first and only accomodation we looked at, as it was clear from previous reviews that it would be a fabulous place to stay and we were not disappointed. The location near to Ribeira Brava and Ponta Do Sol was ideal and with easy access to the beautiful city of Funchal.

The villa itself is fully equipped and comfortable and finished to a high standard. The highlight for us was the large, private balcony with a stunning view where we spent long days into the evening watching the sunset. The pool and beautiful rear garden to which you have access add another element to the villa.

Gary and Glenys are friendly, welcoming and informative, have created the perfect place to 'get away from it all' and we would highly recommend a stay at Bela Vista.

An Immaculate villa in a lovely location!

This villa is as good as looks on the website and more!!! Every detail inside as well as out has been carefully thought through, and the quality of everything is excellent. Although Gary and Glenys live on the ground floor of this villa, they were always discreet and it was almost as if they were not there. They very helpful and friendly in every way and there was lots of information in the villa of things to do, places to go etc. It is an ideal place for a relaxing quality holiday.

Bella Vista ticks all the boxes. We would not hesitate to recommend this villa to anyone.

The photographs are a true reflection of this beautiful property. Gary and Glenys are very welcoming, doing all they can to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. We at no time felt a lack of privacy. We would love to return to this magical part of the wonderful island of Madeira.

Ponta do Sol and Ribeira Brava are both equidistance from the property, 8 minute drive by car. Both have pebble beaches. Also, 15 minute drive West is Calheta with its man-made golden sand beach and marina.


There are 2 easily accessible golf courses on the island at Palheiro and Santa da Serra.


Just about every hobby, pastime and sport can be catered for on the island including deep sea fishing, dolphin/whale watching charters, horse riding, paragliding, and surfing to name a few.

How to get here

We are a 35 minute drive from the airport via the rápida motorway. A hire car is recommended.

Further Details

Ponta do Sol and Ribeira Brava (8 minute drive) both offer numerous shops, bars, restaurants, hotels, ATM's, banks, chemists, petrol stations, health centre and dentists. Riviera Brava is the largest town before Funchal and has a large supermarket and two further smaller supermarkets. Ponta do Sol has a smaller convenience supermarket.

We are close to the neighbouring village Lugar de Baixo, a small hamlet which has beachside cafes and restaurants and is a 5 minute drive from the property. Funchal is approx. a 20 minute drive from us via the rápida motorway.

A security deposit of €200 is required. This must be received within five (5) days of booking the holiday property. The deposit automatically converts to a security/damage deposit upon arrival. The deposit is NOT applied toward rent; however, it is fully refundable within fourteen (14) days of departure after checking the condition of the villa. The balance is payable sixty (60) days before arrival.
In the event that we have to cancel a booking, a 100% full refund will be given.
