Inveroich has been a much loved family home for over sixty years and the present owners would like to share it with like minded, caring couples and small parties who would appreciate its charm, character and quality.

The property is situated in a unique and prime location at the head of Loch Ness. It enjoys uninterrupted and breathtaking views, being situated beside Loch Ness, the Caledonian Canal and the River Oich. Steeped in history, Inveroich was built as the Barrack Master's House for the old fort and is reputed to be the oldest house in Fort Augustus. A pre 1770 plan, reveals that this cottage was 'a keeping place for the malt', for the adjoining Brew House.

At the end of a no-through road, the house is within easy walking distance of Fort Augustus and all local amenities. There are pubs and tea shops, a park, tennis courts and a huge choice of walks through forestry land, along the canal tow path or up in the hills. Loch and river fishing are readily available, together with boat and fishing trips on Loch Ness.

Inveroich is decorated and furnished to an exceptionally high standard. The rooms are all light, airy and spacious and both bedrooms, the kitchen and the sitting room all boast uninterrupted views of the garden, looking across to the historical Fort Augustus Abbey.

The house sits within a large, very private and well kept walled garden.

There is ample private parking within the grounds of the property.

With storage and convector heating and secondary/double glazing, the Malt House is a cosy, warm and welcoming place to stay.

There are feature fireplaces in the double bedroom, kitchen and sitting room and all the rooms are well proportioned. The kitchen is well equipped, with a good quantity of china and glass, cutlery and cooking utensils.

The rooms are well proportioned with central heating or storage heaters as well as original feature fireplaces.

All cleaning materials are provided as well as a supply of coffee, tea, sugar, pepper, salt, seasonings, soaps, tissues and toilet rolls.

• The sitting room - with feature fireplace, comfortable furniture, TV and DVD player. View of garden.

• Bedroom 1 - double bed, feature fireplace, views of garden, Abbey and Caledonian Canal.

• Bedroom 2 - Twin beds, views of garden, Abbey and Caledonian Canal.

•Downstairs bathroom with large shower and toilet.

•All beds have electric blankets, under blankets, pillows and duvets. Towels and tea towels are all included in the price.

Brilliant short break

  • 5 of 5

The area, stunningly and heartbreakingly beautiful. The accommodation, compact but immaculately clean, had everything that we needed - which is sometimes rather lacking in holiday lets. Although Fort Augustus can be full of tourists who are disgorged daily from coaches, the location of this property - between the river and the canal - means that all remains tranquil in the house and garden, even though the really well-stocked Londis shop/garage/post office is two minutes' walk away. The owners who live next-door could not have been more kind and helpful. We were really sad to leave them and their lovely little cottage, so welcoming and full of character, but very much hope we shall return sometime.

Lovely cottage in great location

  • 4 of 5

We had a great week here in March and the location is just perfect. A short walk into Fort Augustus to pubs, restaurants, coffee shop and Londis supermarket. The cottage is ideal for a couple (and dog, who loved the big garden!). A few tweaks would have made the stay perfect - we had issues with the heating but the owners were very helpful in trying to help us out and the weather was really cold when we were there. Hot water was a problem - pressure was really low and water was warm rather than hot. Equipment in the house was basic - we would have appreciated wine and beer glasses plus a hairdryer and some equipment could do with an upgrade such as the sofa (not very comfy, especially after a long day’s walking) and the tv (which is on its way out). We would also have liked some basic information about where to find the internet password, recycling (we ended up throwing everything into the bin) and perhaps some local information about the area too. However, this is nit picking because we had a lovely week here. The area is stunning and the cottage couldn’t be better located.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your honest feedback, Jane. We have already provided larger wine glasses, beer glasses and a hairdryer. We have also added an additional dustbin for recycling and have put together a folder with information about places to visit, both in the local area and the wider Highlands. The internet codes are now clearly on display. We have bought a new television and will endeavour to upgrade the settee and increase the water pressure as soon as we can. Best wishes, Peter and Amanda

Lovely location. Beautiful views and peaceful. Cosy and well maintained and equipped.

  • 5 of 5

The Malt House is a fantastic little cottage.

Peter and Amanda are very welcoming and helpful.

The location is fantastic. Despite being only a five minute walk to the small village the cottage is totally peaceful and on it's own down a lane.

The cottage is fully equipped with all you need and cosy.

I went in February so it was pretty cold outside.

There are beautiful walks within five minutes and the village has some nice places to eat.

There is a boat trip on the Loch Ness less than two minutes away as well.

I loved my stay at the Malt House and would thoroughly recommend staying there.

I covered a lot of driving miles during my stay and visited the Cairngorms and Glencoe.

If you are looking for peace and tranquillity then the Malt House is the place.

Einfach wunderbar

  • 5 of 5

Picturesque Waterside Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Malt House is an absolute gem. Stunningly situated at the edge of Loch Ness, Malt House provides the right balance between ease of access to Ft. Augustus and the cool privacy of a Scottish cottage and garden. Perfectly appointed, Malt House had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Whether we were cooking our dinner or just hanging out after a day of sight-seeing, it was exactly what we needed. Within easy driving distance of various sights, we had no trouble making day trips to Ft. George, Skye, Urquhart, and the Cairngorms. Peter and Amanda were super friendly and gave us valuable tips on places not to be missed. I can't think of a better place to spend a week or better people to be overseeing that stay. Wonderful!
