About the property

2 double bedrooms with shower rooms. Fully fitted kitchen. Country views.

Created in 2015 this sympathetically converted old stone barn conversion retains original timber beams, traditional clay floor tiles and old timber doors combined with ultra modern kitchen and shower room fittings to provide a comfortable and attractive holiday home.

The barn offers 2 separate bedrooms of equal size ( one double and one twin that can be joined to make a double on request ) each with its own modern shower room. The fully fitted kitchen area is split into cooking and utility sides with a dining table for 4 guests between. The kitchen has convection oven, induction hob, extract hood to outside air, refrigerator with freezer compartment and built in microwave.. The utility side has a stainless steel sink, built in dishwasher and washer dryer plus electric toaster and filter coffee machine.

The sitting area has a comfortable 3 seater settee and a single arm chair plus a comprehensive entertainment centre including French TV , UK Freesat satellite TV, CD/MP3 player, DVD player and a selection of books, games, CD's and DVD's.

The barn offers free wi-fi and comes equipped with bed linen, towels etc, cleaning materials, bin bags, soap, kitchen and toilet rolls plus tabs for both the washing machine and dishwasher.

Outside is a private sun terrace with table and chairs for 4 where you can simply enjoy a drink or two in the evening or dine alfresco.

The large garden has lovely views over the village to the hills beyond and you will find a selection of seating and tables plus a BBQ (on request).

There is ample off road parking in the front courtyard for 2 cars and secure storage in the main barn for your bicycles.

The gite is well insulated and heated making it suitable for use all year round.

Les Volets Verts is owned by Lesley Steel.Initially we bought this old farmhouse with its barns as a holiday home but in 2010 we moved to Burgundy on a permanent basis as we really loved the people, the countryside and of course the wine

In 2014 we decided to convert one of our barns to provide quality accommodation for your enjoyment.

Morlet is a traditional French farming village conveniently situated between the vines and the Morvan National Park with easy access to a wide variety of facilities including some superb restaurants, many historical sites, colourful local markets plus vineyards and wine tasting opportunities. When we first bought in Burgundy we had 2 dogs and the superb network of walking and cycling tracks in the locality were absolutely ideal.You will be surprised just how much there is to do and see in and around Morlet. In fact, we have had guests come back for return visits as they didn't see all they wanted to first time round!

What makes this barn unique

Convenient rural location to explore the wine, gastronomy and history of one of the most beautiful and historic regions in France. Ideal for visiting Beaune, Nolay, Autun and many of the beautiful famous wine villages: Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet, St Aubin ....etc. Morlet is also just off the popular cycle and walk way - The Voie Verte and we provide secure storage for bikes. We are very close to Chateau Fretoy, just outside Morlet, with its superb restaurant Pure - ideal for relaxing after a day sight seeing, cycling or wine tasting. Many of our guests enjoy dining out at lunch time with the extensive, good value menus on offer and just relax and enjoy the garden with local wine and cheeses in the evening.

A very tidy and modern conversion in the middle of rural France.

Lesley and Rodney Steel are great hosts. They were very warm in their greetings and the information supplied was spot on. They are willing to help in any way whatsoever to ensure the holiday went smoothly and were always there if there were any questions that needed answers to.

The property was a delight to live in. A large central living area with a combined kitchen and dining area made the experience a delight.

The property has a long garden which was a suntrap and enabled us to relax in the warmth whilst enjoying our G&T whilst catching up on our reading.

The surrounding area is great for walking and exploring and the local amenities for shopping of supplies is great.

The restaurants in Beaune and Autun have great lunch time menus and are well worth visiting.

A great holiday with a well kept property and charming hosts.

Comfortable Gite

Comfortable and quiet, this little gite is ìn a good position to do lots of drives daily to country villages and some larger towns, especially if you are prepared to explore different routes each time you leave home. Epinac is close, only very short drive, where the Colruyt supermarket has everything you need & another smaller supermarket as well. The gite is small but offers all you need with good heating and hosts Rodney and Lesley are there if you need them but there is complete privacy from their house, and you would not even know they are there, the way the buildings are set up and the conversion of the barn to the gite has been well done. Lovely peaceful area surrounded by farms. We hope our report encourages more people to take the opportunity of experiencing Rodney and Lesley's hosting. Worth it!!!!

A lovely setting and very welcoming hosts in Rodney and Lesley.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is ideal, there are many day trips that you can take or if you prefer just walk around the gorgeous countryside. Lesley and Rodney were most helpful and extremely gracious. We can't wait to return!

A cosy and welcoming refuge

We spent one week in Les Volets Verts in May this year and really liked the accommodation situated in a small, quiet village but less than an hour by car away from sights like Autun and Beaune, for example.

As the weather was not so good during our holidays, we especially appreciated the very well equipped kitchen as well as the heating (which, according to our experience, can be a problem in French holiday apartments – not so in Les Volets Verts). In the evenings we enjoyed to return to a cosy, warm refuge to prepare dinner without having to look for any utensils missing – there is just everything you might need. We also benefitted of the informations provided by Lesley and Rodney: For example, we took some long and lovely walks around Morlet … and we took the opportunity to buy Burgundy wine at very good prices at a nearby cooperative. Last not least we would like to mention that Lesley and Rodney are just perfect hosts – attentive and at the same time discrete. So, we love to remember our week in Burgundy and would return to Morlet and Les Volet Verts anytime.

Les Volets Verts is a perfect place to stay & we experienced the best holiday in France we have ever had for both accomodation and location; bearing in mind this was our 11th year in search of such a place.

The location provides tranquillity and privacy yet is only 30 minutes drive away from so many places to visit in any direction.

Rodney and Lesley have put so much thought and love into Les Volets Verts making it as comfortable as possible and have kitted it out with so much care you feel at home immediately.

Everything inside & out is excellent quality and having 2 great bathrooms is a massive plus!

The information provided on the local & surrounding areas is exceptional and so useful; but if you ever need them, Rodney & Lesley have perfected the knack of being there whenever you want them but not if you don't! & anything they haven't provided that you may want they seem to "magic up " to make sure you have the best time.

I have a lasting memory of the view I had every morning when I looked out of the windows and never tire of it.

I can't thank Rodney & Lesley enough for allowing us to stay in their Gite & look forward to being back there many times in the future.

Great stay in beautiful house and stunning setting

We had a wonderful stay. The converted barn is complete and modern. Rodney and Lesly are very friendly and helpful hosts (they provided a carafe of wine on arrival and fresh croissants on the first morning). The region around Morlet is truly beautiful, with lots of wildlife (badgers, lizards and birds of prey). We swam in the river at Nolay and have visited the Friday market in Autun. We recommend the Pure restaurant in Morlet (Chateau de Fretoy). We will visit this area in the future certainly again. Hopefully we can then re-enter the accommodation of Rodney and Lesley.

Morlet is a traditional French farming village ideally situated to enjoy the superb countryside, historic sites and Burgundy gastronomy for which the area is famed - and of course the wine!

For those wishing to relax and recharge their batteries there is a private sun terrace and largytce garden with views over the village to the hills beyond. If you prefer to explore this beautiful and historic part of France there are the Greenways, a system of cycle tracks and walkways along canal tow paths and through the vines, picturesque villages and unspoilt countryside.

The ancient cities of Beaune, Dijon, Chalon and Autun are well worth exploring, particularly on market days. A tour of some of the famous and historic wine villages in the area such as Pommard, Meursault, Santenay and St Aubin to name but a few is essential! A little further away you will find the World Heritage site of Vezelay, the castle construction project of Guedelon Castle and the spectacular archeological site of Bibracte. You can even visit the village where " Chocolat" was filmed.

For younger guests there are several theme parks to suit all ages within a short distance.

For swimming enthusiasts there is an indoor and outdoor pool at Autun, several authorised river and lake opportunities and a superb natural water theme park near Beaune.

You will find a comprehensive "Gite Guide" (in English) at the apartment with lots of detailed information.

After a busy day out and about many of our guests enjoy a meal at the nearby superb Restaurant Pure at Chateau Fretoy, Morlet.
