Gostelow House, circa 1540, is a Grade II listed building surrounded by ¾ acre of secure gardens. There is an outdoor pool, bar, patio area and barbecues for your use. This family house is of half timbered Tudor design, and whilst it retains its character with inglenook fireplaces and low ceilings and beams it has all the modern touches you would expect.

The house is situated in the small village of Chalton which has a farm selling fresh free range eggs. There is a good dining pub a few steps from the house. The larger village of Toddington is 2 miles away and has a historic church, a library, a number of village shops, various takeaways and four pubs. Leagrave, a suburb of Luton is 3 miles away with fast access to London (45 min) and Bedford (20 min). Milton Keynes 15 miles to the north, offers a wealth of shopping and entertainment. Oxford and Cambridge are an hour's drive away.

Unique house perfect for a group

We spent last weekend at Gostelow House (Aug 17) and had an amazing time. We travelled as a group of 14 for a very relaxed hen weekend and our party included 3 small babies. The house is definitely unique and the garden is beautiful. It is a home rather than a holiday rental and this is worth noting as there are personal belongings in everywhere in the house. Carole, the owner, is very helpful and friendly. She provided us with lots of information beforehand and answered all the questions I had. She very generously provided us with champagne and allowed us to use her extensive kitchenware during our visit. We unfortunately had an accident whilst there involving one of her lovely plate decorations and she was very understanding about it. She was also kind enough to organise meeting in London to return some items that had been left behind. During our stay, we had a BBQ, made a 3 course homecooked meal and played games. We ventured out to Bedford one afternoon for tea (about half an hour away). I'd recommend this property to anyone hoping to a have a getaway somewhere a little bit different.

Fabulous weekend away

Spent the weekend here with a group of friends to celebrate a thirty-somethingth birthday.

The house is really charming, the garden is beautiful. Plenty of room for 12 people. We made great use of the barbecue, swimming pool and croquet set.

Carole was really helpful throughout. Clear communication, accomodated all our whims, returned the deposit in full and left us a couple of champagne as a welcome gift. Much appreciated!

Would definitely recommend staying here. We're looking for an excuse to come visit again!

Beautiful setting for a relaxed hen party

We were a group of 14 who came to enjoy a relaxed hen party last weekend! Gostelow house is absolutely beautiful - we were fortunate enough to enjoy excellent weather so were able to make use of the stunning gardens, pool and outdoor bar. I would come back for the garden alone (if only Carole could guarantee the weather!) as it was perfect for our 'mini festival' in the back garden.

The house itself was lovely - its definitely important to bear in mind that this is actually someones home - so it's slightly different to renting a holiday home/apartment - however this doesn't affect the enjoyment, if anything it makes you feel even more at home.

Carole was fantastic throughout the booking and organising process - she couldn't have been more helpful and efficient with returning deposits etc. And the two bottles of champagne left in the fridge for us were gratefully received!

All in all a wonderful time was had by all - we are planning an excuse (any excuse will do) to come back again!

Absolutely Fabulous Stay

I have recently come back from organising a hen do here and we had a great stay. The house is very old and charming and the grounds are beautiful and there's a pool!!! The weekend we stayed the weather was roasting so the pool was great to have. There were 13 of us and there was plenty of space and the weekend was really comfortable. Carole was great and answered all my questions and provided lots of useful information. Carole even left 2 bottles of champagne for us which was very generous. I would definitely recommend this house for anyone wanting a break in the country or for hen party's.

Perfect setting for a hen weekend

This is a great house in stunning grounds and the owner couldn't be more helpful while you are preparing for your stay. It is her home so storage is limited but I think that adds to the house's charm. Highly recommended.

Fabulous house for a weekend away with friends

Carole was incredibly helpful in the booking period, prompt in replying to emails, and answered all of my many questions over the space of few months.

She was flexible with our arrival time and left the keys for us as she wasn't able to be there. The house was clean and tidy with 2 bottles of champagne waiting to greet us!

We slept 13 girls comfortably including the sofa bed in the living room and a fold out bed in the study. Lots of bedding and towels to spare. We prepared a dinner and all fit around the dining room table.

Would be lovely in the summer to make the most of the garden and pool.

Returned the full deposit the day after we checked out.

Thank you again for a great stay!
