Pretty cottage set in the grounds of one of Montrésor's finest houses. Overlooking the Indrois river. The cottage has 1 double bedroom, and a double bed on a mezzanine floor overlooking the living room, fully fitted kitchen, and dining area, shower room and 2 toilets. The house is set in extensive grounds with several caves to explore and a fire pit which you are welcome to use, whilst watching the sun set over the magical chateau.
The medieval village of Montrésor is one of the most beautiful villages in France. Views from the cottage to the chateau are stunning. The village has all the essential amenities, bakery, cafe, supermarket, pharmacy, bank, tabac and tourist office.
We are a French/ British family living in London. We fell in love with the village of Montrésor when we lived in Paris and visited on holiday. We have owned property in the village ever since and come back as often as we can.
Sarah & Jean-Michel purchased this cottage in 2014
The Gamekeeper's cottage is wonderfully secluded, by the banks of the river and set in lovely grounds. Only a few minutes' walk from the heart of the village, you will have the perfect view of medieval village of Montrésor and feel as though you have stepped back in time.
The cottage at Montresor was a lovely place to stay. It's location was an ideal base for exploring the Loire Valley as many of the popular attractions are an easy drive away. The local Chateau is also well worth a visit. I was made most welcome with the provision of fresh baguette, jam and milk to kick start the stay. The gardens are a delight and enjoyed with a glass of wine or two.
As a solo traveler the cottage was spacious and comfortable though two or more people would easily be accommodated. Highly recommended.
Our little house in the Orchard...... it was just wonderful! The village is just short walk away.... it has everything you need, grocery store, gas, pharmacy, bank, restaurant and tourist office. All staffed by very friendly folks. There are wonderful walks around the area and it's a short distance to many of the Loire Valley Chateaux. There is a chateau in the village that is open for visitors.
The house itself is very comfortable. We had several days of rain..... it was nice just to relax and read. ( Lots of good books in English.) The kitchen is well equipped....did lots of cooking since there was rain. The kitchen and dining room look out on the garden filled with flowers and trees. One morning while eating breakfast we watched a woodpecker hunt for his breakfast in one of the apple trees. Gathered apples and made applesauce .......Just lots to do if you want to be on the go and a lovely place to unwind and relax. Looking forward to our next visit!
Here's some things that we really enjoyed about the cottage:
Montresor is fabulous and love the fact that the cottage is right across the lane from a gorgeous river with wonder walking paths.
Loved the privacy and seclusion of the property
Loved the guide you put together - was really helpful
cute kitchen/dining area
There were just a few minor things that would have helped like extra towels and better fitting bed linens. But overall really enjoyed our stay and this cute cottage in such a beautiful, quiet village.
We recently returned to this very pretty captivating cottage with its beautiful gardens and colourful scented rose bushes. The cottage is light and airy, clean, well equipped, comfortable and also spacious. The added bonus is the amazing views over the village and the peaceful meandering river. The children enjoyed boating during the day and we strolled along the pathways in the evening.
The village has all the amenities that you could want with a great bakery, nice cafe and a small supermarket. It also boasts its own Chateau of Montresor which is well worth a visit.
This fun cottage offers a great base to visit the region and we will certainly be coming back very soon.
There is a wonderful chateau in the village and the many famous Loire Valley chateaux are within 45 minute drive: Chenonceau, Amboise, Valençey, Villandry, Azay-le-Rideau... to name a few.
Clos Lucé, Leonardo da Vinci's last home is excellent (in Amboise). The zoo Beauval in St Aignan is world class and has giant pandas, the only ones in France.
