About the property

Large Lodge, 2 large sleeping lofts, modern kitchen & Men & Women bathrooms

This historic rustic lodge was built as a log structure by the Wasatch Mt. Club in 1929 as the Club headquarters and mountain center for overnight stays and adventures in the mountains. This building represents the start of skiing in Big & Little Cottonwood Canyons. The lodge is a log structure where the rustic main floor lodge room can accommodate parties up to 100 persons with a sleeping lofts which will accommodate up to 20 people. We provide bed with mattresses, cover, but no bedding. Guests must provide their own pillows, bedding or sleeping bag.

Ideal for large gatherings, parties, reception, family reunions, winter ski trips for small to medium groups. Wood fireplace. Outdoor patio with tables and chairs and barbeque area available in the Summer. The lodge has folding banquet tables and folding chairs for approximately 85 people.

SUMMER - dirt road leading to the lodge from the Brighton Parking lot.

WINTER - no motorized access to the lodge because the lodge is within the Brighton ski slopes. All user must transport their belongings and food to the lodge by either carrying them or using the sleds and toboggan provided by the Lodge.

The building is heated by a combination of hot water heating, a force air furnace in the main building and the fireplace. This a 'true rustic experience' with a few modern features thrown in.

The Lodge is listed on the National Register of Historic Place and is owned and operated by the Wasatch Mountain Club Foundation, a nonprofit, charitable 501 (C)(3) organization. 100% of the rental fees you pay go for preservation and maintenance of this building.

Robert Myers purchased this lodge in 1929

Why Robert Myers chose Utah

If you are looking for a 'rustic stay' in one of the very few original log structures built in the Brighton area, you have found it. The lodge was built in 1929 and has had a few modern updates over time, such as flushing toilets, hot showers, potable safe mountain water, modern kitchen, hot water & forced air heating systems.

What makes this lodge unique

The lodge is located right in the Brighton skiing terrain, a short 300 ft. out of the Brighton parking lot, so you can ski-in and out during the winter month. In the summer you will find abundant wildlife, as we are located above the base facilities in the trees. At the back of the lodge you will find a large patio and barbeque area with picnic tables. We are located short distance from the hiking trail heads, cross country skiing, downhill skiing and mountain biking.

Owner's Response: Alexei, Thanks for bagging up all the debris and placing it near the door. Look like you had a great time at the lodge and the weather wasn't as bad, as I had predicted. Hope you had a great wedding and that you timing in the canyon avoided most of the traffic. Robert

Perfect winter lodge

  • 5 of 5

The Wasatch Mountain Lodge proved to be the perfect place for our group. Heating worked well and the well-equipped kitchen allowed for us to cook for a group of 35 people. The lodge caretaker was also very helpful.

Family loved rustic cabin experience

  • 4 of 5

We rented the WML cabin for a family Christmas ski vacation and had a great experience. Its location as a ski in-ski out spot was delightfully different than other properties at ski resorts in Utah. Hiking in was half the fun. Plenty of space for kids to run around in, clean bedrooms and bathrooms, on site caretaker was very helpful and reassuring in case we needed assistance. Rental experience was easy and well managed by the WMC. Its important to recognize that it is an old building so don't come expecting high end condo life. We felt like we part of something real and historic which made it all the more interesting. Overall we are considering making it an annual family trip.

Beautiful Mountain Setting

  • 3 of 5

We had problems when we first arrived to set up for my mom's 90th birthday, but thanks to good family we got it all set up beautifully and Robert and Todd worked with me make things right. We enjoyed our time there, it was the perfect setting for our party and most importantly my mother was very happy! Just make sure you give good directions and put up plenty of signs showing the way!
