When I arrived in Sicily in 1960 I came from Puglia; in Sicily tourism was not known, but not even in Puglia had yet taken hold; it would take another 40 years for Puglia and 55 for Sicily; in Marina di Ragusa the people passing by were undressing and were still changing behind the reeds.
The era of B & B and "holiday homes" had to take place in order to finally offer the possibility of spending a summer holiday comfortably and with dignity.
My passion for the sea and for underwater fishing brought me up to Gela to the west and up to Avola to the east; a place remained closed and impenetrable the bay of Punta delle Formiche with its fantastic cliff, which from the land was not accessible, due to existing forests of reeds. Once, with friends, we left Pozzallo by sea, with a wooden spear, and coast-coast finally arrived near the famous faraglioni and we caught a lot of wonderful fish; then we stopped: I went down after the snack and explored the area on foot; I saw and photographed the pits attached to the sea, on the opposite coast, where the salt water came in and out and where people tanned the skins of animals (and hence the name of the district: "tanneries"), then passed on the cliff where low spots of "Mediterranean flora" were blooming (and still blooming).
How wonderful this crescent of rocks on the sea, which show the view; and it was then that the enchantment of the bay and the cliff took me and forced me not to go to other parts of the sea. And here I am, slowly, in 50 years, I created this "little paradise", as guests say, where it is natural to cultivate the body and mind, sport and meditation, where everything has been done naturally and respecting the ambiante, even exalting it, with a garden of 2000 square meters from the inside.
The entrance is through two rows of palm trees that welcome and at night light up automatically when cars enter and exit; the palms in all are 23 and also surround a regulatory field for the game of bowls; there is a free parking that protects from the sun and a typically and traditionally Sicilian oven that is used to create evenings for our guests based on pizzas.
The silent environment, the transparent light, the natural sport, the leisures are both inside and outside. The evenings of hustle and bustle pass Marzamemi 6 kilometers from us; Portopalo di Capo Passero is a gentle, quiet country with many restaurants specializing in fish menus and between 20 and 50 minutes by car you can reach 8 towns that have been named "heritage of humanity"; our area is the world capital of the Baroque of 1700. There is a pond - at a distance of 800 meters from our house - which hosts the waders who do the shuttle with the Vendicari reserve, and this can be reached in 25 minutes.
Half a day is enough to visit the Etna volcano.
There are three apartments designed and structured all in the same way; as an example I say that each apartment is equipped with air conditioning -with room-by-room adjustment-, all the comforts of the kitchen, including the dishwasher, the bathrooms are all with shower and each apartment has adequate verandas or terraces overlooking the sea : all at the 5-star level. There is a laundry, there are outdoor showers and finally, for the joy of children and adults, there are big and small canoes. There are also two sailboats, but they are disarmed; who wants to use must tell us a little time before.
The linen for the bedrooms, bathrooms, products necessary for personal hygiene, chemicals for laundry are free for our guests.
Finally we also created the WEB connection for the use of INTERNET.
