A+ location in the heart of downtown next door to Hilton Hotel & Austin Convention Center. 2 bedroom/2 bath condo with classy, comfortable furniture, granite counters, stainless steel appliances and comes fully furnished. This is my downtown Austin second home and it's walking distance to everything in the downtown area including Alamo Drafthouse Theaters, hundreds of restaurants & bars plus the pride of the city - Lady Bird Lake Hike & Bike Trail. The outside photos here are taken from our front door. One can literally walk across the street and be at the convention center. The location is in the heart of downtown!!!

Hotel rooms are small, stale, and boring. Plus, hotels add parking costs. Call around the hotels downtown and find this unit is much larger, a real home, and less $. Keep Austin Weird is the motto of this city so take an opportunity to live in a home-type setting while being in this great city! This is a 2 bedroom with queen beds and 2 full bathrooms plus a sleeper sofa in the living area so it can accommodate 6 adults. Living area has flat panel TV with full cable (about 75 channels) and WiFi access. No car is needed if you want a pedestrian friendly opportunity but if you rent a car, then secured/gated parking (1 car) is available on site. Sound proof windows added to bedrooms in October of 2012.

We miss Austin, and this place really let us enjoy our hometown to its fullest. In the heat of the day, we really enjoyed the TV...food channel and that crazy CashCab show! I just wanted to let you know how well things turned out for us in Austin. The location for the stay was perfect, right in the 'hub bub', could walk most anywhere without difficulty. One of the things I liked best about the Condo, was that it was so clean and totally ready for us. I traveled with my 92 year Mom, so at best everything was difficult. She was able to have her own bedroom, next to the bathroom, so this worked out great. Also, she was able to have her own space and rest when necessary.

You have excellent taste in decorating, simple but elegant. It felt like 'home'.

Thank you again for everything, it all went very smoothly.

Hated the humidity, but everyone was so friendly and helpful. That doesn't happen in California. Everyone was just so nice.

'Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your condo. The place was perfect. Our family of three came in to Austin from Cabo San Lucas so that I could have minor knee surgery. After the surgery, I needed to lay in bed for a couple of days to recover. The layout of the condo worked to perfection. With the full size kitchen we were able to stock up on groceries and not be forced to eat out every day. However when we did eat out, there were some of our favorite restaurants within walking distance. Also having the second bedroom allowed my family to sleep while allowing me enough space to keep my leg elevated while sleeping. We were also able to put our daughter to bed and stay up watching TV. If we were in a hotel room we would not have been able to do that without waking her up. We travel to Austin often to visit friends and family and your condo offers us a place of our own with lots of space and without the expense of a hotel. We will be booking again soon. Thanks again for everything.'

Great downtown Austin location

This condo is perfectly situated to all the downtown action that Austin has to offer. Everything was walkable, plenty of restaurants, bars, entertainment. The apartment was well appointed and very comfortable and clean. The only downside I would say is that there is very little natural light in the condo - based on the set up of the complex -- everything looks onto an interior courtyard. But it was not an issue, as we did not come to Austin to 'hang out' in the condo!!! Highly recommend this rental and would stay there again on our return trip to Austin.

Great Location

The property that we rented for a 5 night stay in Austin with friends was wonderful. Truly a home away from home. The condo was roomy and well appointed. The secured parking was convenient and the location was as good as could be asked for, only a few blocks to all of the entertainment and night life on 6th Street. SoCo was a reasonable walk away. Since you are across the street from a hotel, cabs are also easily obtained. Overall, just a great experience.

problematic service

When we arrived in the evening we received a notification that the water would be shut off the next morning from 9:00 - 12:00. We had not been notified before this, or given the opportunity to cancel and find a different rental. With 4 adults and two kids, dealing with this sudden issue was a big challenge, to say the least.

Also, the owner knew (and was reminded a week before our stay) that we would be using the sofa bed, but we received no linens for it.

The interior of the apartment is nice, and exactly as advertised. Renters should know, however, that there is very little natural light. It is on the ground floor of a very large complex. The courtyard gets little light, and beyond that even opening the blinds isn't an option since it opens the apartment to all passersby in the courtyard and neighboring apartments.

Overall it served our needs as a place to sleep, but it wasn't a place to spend much more time than that. I would not return.

Owner's Response: Sorry the water shut off was a challenge for you. The plumbing to the building is all connected, so in the event a repair is needed the HOA leaves a notice on everyone’s door. Although agree it is an inconvenience the notice does allows you to plan ahead. The 9-12n is just a time frame of when it might be shut off. It doesn’t mean that you will be without water for that entire time. The extra linens/pillows are always stored in the bedroom closet and were available for you to use. You never messaged me asking about them, so a bit perplexed to hear about it now in the review.

Condo was nice, was great to have two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was clean but it had a little odor, as though it had been wet. Didn't have any issues.

Downtown Austin, Texas Condo Jan. 25 through Jan. 29, 2017

The condo was very nice and turned out to be exactly what was advertised on the VRBO website and exactly what we expected. The location was perfect for what we wanted to do which was check out the Austin music, restaurant and art scene for a few days. All the appliances that we used worked and there were adequate furnishings and kitchenware for the 4 of us. We do have one big issue though and for that reason must give 4 stars and not the full 5 which the property really does deserve.

A certain price for the condo was poster on the internet before any taxes, fees, deposits, etc. but we were charged about $41 more per night. An e-mail to property manager for an explanation for the higher fees went unanswered. When we arrived, the gate code number e-mailed to us by the property manager did not work on any of the three entrances and we could not get in. A phone call to her reached her inbox but it was full. A follow up text message to her also went unanswered. Thankfully, a resident saved the day for us and gave us his gate access code number and we got in. The condo door code number we were given and the parking gate fob both worked but if that resident had not given us his gate code number we would have been in bad shape. When we returned home there was an e-mail from the property manager with a different gate code number. The problem with that was, it arrived 5 hours after we had left home for Austin and we had no way to access our e-mail. Two other really minor items are that the information booklet in the condo could use a little updating and we found that the door on the east side of the parking garage was broken so that anyone who wanted in could do so although we never saw that happen.

This was our first VRBO experience. All in all it was a very good one and we anticipate using VRBO again sometime but because of the property manager's lack of communication regarding the difference in price and especially the wrong gate code number, we won’t likely rent any VRBO property managed by her.
