Guests # 1

'We are at the Carriage House and it is fabulous! Everything is exactly as you described, including the cleanliness. We ski'd a half day today and are completely exhausted ( in a good way). Snow was incredible.'

Guests # 2

The home was absolutely beautiful! It was very comfortable and in an excellent location. We were able to mill around town and go hiking and snowshoeing. Our dog loved all the open space and nature! Thank you for allowing us to stay there. I know it must be tough letting people stay in your home, but we took care of it as if it were our's. Thanks again.

Guest #3

'The Carriage House is fabulous! We loved it! You have fitted it out beautifully, which we really appreciated. It was wonderful to come back to somewhere homely after a hard day of skiing, and the kids loved playing in the snow around the house...

So often, booking any kind of vacation feels like doing business. It is a real pleasure when it feels like there is a real person on the other side of the transaction who is genuinely interested in the vacationer enjoying themseves...

Congratulations on what you have done with the house. It's clear that you have tried hard to incorporate the atmosphere of Crested Butte - historical, laid back and a responsible eye to a sustainable future, You have accomplished it very well.'

Guest #4

'Dear Paula,

As usual, Crested Butte did not disappoint! We had a great week hiking, biking, enjoying the scenery, etc. We love your house! Several of the features of the house make it very special. And I would love to know the stories behind many of the decorative items!

Thank you very much for sharing your house with us.'

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is our third time to Crested Butte and 3rd time in your awesome house! We have had the BEST time again for our Spring Break. It has been sunny and beautiful all week, but a snowstorm is coming tonight... perfect ending! We love this friendly little town and hope to experience it in the summer sometime.

We loved seeing the Carriage House from the Silver Queen Lift! We'll miss it. Thank you again for a wonderful stay.

Beautiful Home Fantastic Location Great Views

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I enjoyed this beautiful home for a week during Crested Butte's spring ski season. The home is comfortable, cozy and decorated with great taste and attention to detail. Much nicer than the average VRBO property. The home is located a block from the free shuttle to skiing and is an easy couple of blocks to Elk Avenue, which is where all the restaurants, shops, etc. are. There are great mountain views views from two sides of the house. The owners do a great job making this an easy, hassle-free experience. Definitely recommend.

The carriage house was perfect

  • 5 of 5

This was a cute cottage house in a great location. We walked into town for coffee, dinner and a great sledding hill. And walked across the street to a bus stop up to the ski mountain. I highly recommend this house for a small family like my own.

Eugene, Or

Winter of 2017 Record Snow

  • 5 of 5

Ah, the Carriage House. My husband and I arrived at the Carriage House on Monday January 9 and stayed until Thursday February 2. We drove from Eugene, OR. We are snow shoers. We shopped for groceries in Gunnison and arrived in CB at around 3. It was snowing. Huge snow drifts were everywhere. The town was a wonderland of twinkling lights. When we entered our house, it was warm and inviting. We moved in. We grilled chicken on the balcony gas grill that night and basked in the glow of light reflecting on snow.

We could easily get to the Nordic Trails from our front door. We did not use our car for about 10 days. We walked into the village of CB every day for breakfast, coffee, lunch, drinks, dinner or ice cream. We saw 3 movies at the Majestic Theater. We took a private sled dog tour with the Cosmic Cruisers. We watched the World Fat Tire Bicycle Competition on the Nordic Trails of CB. We snow shoed in deep snow, on groomed trails and in the wilderness. It was pure joy.

The house works great for 2 people. We invited friends from Denver to join us and the house works for 4 people too. The house is very well built. It is not drafty and it holds the heat. The downstairs shower has a steam ejector that is great after a cold day outside. The kitchen has every item you might need for cooking and entertaining. We bought the house a very good meat thermometer. There are plenty of windows that let in amazing light. There are breathtaking views to the North and East. I would stand on the balcony off the living room and take videos of the sky at dusk and dawn. As the sun rises, it hits the mountains and lights them up. There are other houses to the South and West of the Carriage House.

The house has a caretaker who is completely dependable and responsible. Whenever we needed anything, we texted her and she responded. She cleaned the house for us in the middle of our stay and that was a very nice luxury. She also collected and disposed of all our recyclables. The Carriage House garbage collection does not come with recycle disposition.

All told, we had a magical time. We loved the snowy days. We loved the sunny days. We loved Crested Butte and we loved the Carriage House.

Wonderful place to escape reality!

I enjoyed two weeks in the Carriage House this fall. The decor was charming and made me feel at home immediately. The location is perfect with views from three sides and easy walking distance to town and hiking trails. I hope to be able to return someday.
