A beautiful home away from home
Our family of six (two adults, four children age 8 to 16) loved our stay at Casa Rosa. What a beautiful place! The kids spent endless hours in the pool and playing hide and seek in the house and gardens (lots of nooks to hide in) and in fact we only ventured out once to see Pompeii and Vesuvius because well, you just have to.
Nothing was too much trouble for Guiseppe who was a wonderful host and helped us out when our car broke down on the first day. The villa was very well resourced with everything you could need, and plenty of supermarkets and bakeries were close by (not to mention Guiseppe's delicious croissant delivery!).
It is a little out in the countryside so not for people who want to be 500m from bars and nightlife and you do need a car. But we loved the isolation and the fact there were no TVs in the rooms! Would highly recommend it to families especially who want to switch off and disconnect for a few days and play Uno instead.
Our time at Casa Rosa
What can we say?! What an amazing Villa! Giuseppe was the perfect host and nothing was too much trouble during our stay. The villa was even better than the photos suggest, and for a family of 5, it was more than adequately equipped - Giuseppe has certainly taken previous comments on board. The welcome pack was a lovely gesture, having arrived late at night on a Sunday, and Giuseppe even offered to cook! The pool area was well maintained, private, and the perfect place to relax.
We chose the villa partly for its location, as it was nice to be away from the trambusto of the Amalfi coast, yet still within comfortable driving distance. For morning coffee and croissants, we ventured into Pezzano (5-minute drive) and would highly recommend the 'Cioffi Bar', with friendly and welcoming staff, and towards the end of our stay, our drinks were ready and waiting.
In terms of places to see, we enjoyed the history of both Pompeii and Paestum and Sorrento was a great place to spend the evening, with a great mixture of tourist and modern shops, and bars and restaurants - something for everyone. The best way to view the Amalfi Coast is definitely by boat from Salerno, and it was easy to hop off at many of the places along the route.
Thanks again for your hospitality Giuseppe, we'd love to return to Casa Rosa in the future, and in the meantime, if you are ever in England, you'd be made welcome at Casa Poma!
Hello Mario Hello everyone. Thank you for your words. You have been very welcome guests. Polite and respectful of the rules of the house. I'm glad you spent in my house a nice holiday.
I think of you with affection and I hope one day to meet you, maybe in England.
A fabulous villa set in wonderful gardens.
Casa-Villa was better than we could have hoped. There is so much space both within the villa and in the grounds. The villa is has everything you need, lots of bathrooms, good sized bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen and even a billiards table! Outside is beautiful with lots of space, shady areas to sit in or eat at and a large swimming pool and table tennis table. In fact all you want to do is stay around the villa as it so relaxing! However there is lots to do in the area so it is really worth venturing out and exploring. The local food is fantastic, including the best pizza we have had in any part of Italy! Giuseppe is a kind and generous host who made us feel that nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend Casa-Villa and the area around San Cipriano Picentino.
Dear Kate, thank you very much for your review. You have been very welcome guests. The house was left in perfect order. I would have the pleasure of having my guests again.
I'll have a good memory for you
our holiday experience.
first of all PLEASE READ THE CONTRACT , JOSEPH WILL CHARGE YOU FOR ELECTRICITY. SO PLEASE PLEASE READ THE CONTRACT. we were charged extortionate euros for 8 days even when we were out for 4 days and always got back late .but as we did not read the contract and had no money left he let us off. THANKS VERY MUCH JOSEPH. YOU ARE STAYING NEXT TO A SMALL FARM WITH DOGS CONSTANTLY BARKING THROUGH THE NIGHT AND CATS IN THE GARDEN GOING THROUGH THE RUBBISH. our view of the property it is a beautiful villa but joseph has done the basic work on it for rental purposes the pool area needs fixing and the garden furniture needs replacing as it is very old. if you have young children watch them as if they wonder of they may hurt themselves as part of the garden area needs fencing off because it is a bit unsafe. as for joseph cleaning the pool he did it once while we were there and we had to clear all the leaves and dead bugs out of the pool before we got in. he needs a new barbecue as the one there is rusty and falling to bits. the pizza oven has not been used in a very long time. all the leaflets in the villa need throwing out as they are useless and out of date. TRAVEL. a car is ok but walking is ok as well, you have about a 20 minute walk to the village and it is all uphill so be warned you will be tired when you get to the top.there is only one bus stop and that is in the village and you purchase the tickets from the tobacconist or the ice cream parlour. we walked it every day the view is gorgeous and it was very hot. so we had beer and croissant for breakfast when we got to the top.always catch the bus salerno. in salerno the train station is about 10 mins walk and you can travel about anywhere. the transport is punctual and very clean. if you want to travel to ROME book in advance by rail as it is 40 euros each on the day .THE VILLAGE there are no resteraunts outside the village as stated by joseph everything is in the village you need for your stay. if you need any help about anything ask vincenzo or enrico at the 442 pub in the village, they speak a little english but have an app translater on there mobile, we had many a good conversation and drinks with them. the village people are very friendly , by the 4th day they were saying hello to us and we were treated very very well. the village made our holiday SPECIAL. we have been asked by the local people to return next year and enrico has found us a place to stay so off to italy next year, thanks joseph fo
Host build. They left the house in excellent condition. Only newcomers did not understand that for incidental expenses, they did not include those of the payment of electricity consumption and that it was necessary to deliver on arrival a deposit that would be returned in full, without damages, on departure. It would be helpful to pay more attention to what was written in the preliminary contract signed before the arrival.
Thanks for suggestions for improving the home state.
Thank you for choosing to spend your vacation in my home.
Our home away from home
Months later, we continue to rave about our time at the Villa. The grounds and villa are beautiful and spacious. We had plenty of space for the five adults and one baby in our party, and it was well equipped, with bedding, towels, and even some food staples so we could prepare a meal when we arrived. Guiseppe was an incredible, gracious host. He was happy to greet us, showed us all around the house, and upon hearing we were traveling with a 17 month old, made sure the villa had a baby bed and bedding. Whenever we needed anything, Guiseppe was quick to respond and come over as needed.
As others have noted, the villa is situated in a more rural setting, which we loved. We woke to roosters and gorgeous views, but it was also conveniently located to the town of San Cipriano Picentino (minutes away) where we could do some grocery shopping, get a pizza, and hang out at our favorite Pasticceria Alfredo. The location was a great jumping off spot - we could easily get to Salerno (where we could catch tours from), Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, Paestum, and the Basilicata region. It is a was a little challenging to find at first but then had no trouble finding our way around. We only wished we had more down time to enjoy the villa. We can't wait to return!
We fell in love with this villa.
What a fantastic villa! There were just my wife and I so there was more than enough space around this house and its grounds, but we could see that it would comfortably accommodate eight or ten people. It has loads of style and character so we easily overlooked that it needs some tlc and we settled in within a couple of days, feeling a bit like the signore and signora of a maniero. It is just so Italian. The raised, circular courtyard is huge and is edged by a long and wide pergola where it is nice to sit and enjoy the shade. The pool is large, there is ample parking and the whole place is very private.
The place is out in the country and far enough away from the tourist track to give the feel of la vita italiana. Half an hour's drive gets you on the Amalfi Coast road or well on the way to Paestano and Agropoli. San Cipriano is only a mile away and they don't speak much English there but they are extremely friendly and curious and it was a great opportunity to try out my rather limited Italian. For such a small town/village there is an incredible number of shops and bars - I highly recommend the pasticceria and panetteria. Prices for most things are a fraction of what they are in Rome or even Salerno.
Giuseppe is 'molto gentile' and very helpful, just a phone-call away. He is a really lovely person.
We were genuinely sorry to leave, and as much as we like Rome we would have preferred the four days we spent there to have been at Casa Rosa. We have stayed in a quite a few holiday villas over the years and this one ranks very highly.
(One final point: a satnav isn't so much desirable as life saving, unless you have the map reading ability and mind of Jason Bourne.)
Dear Charles and Christina, thank you for the kind words that you have had for my house and for me. You too have been guests friendly and affectionate. Much i liked the advice from Charles. Next year definitely fix the pool area.
I hope in the future to be able to meet, perhaps in England, if I am on holiday or on a business.
If you will want to come back next year I'll be happy.
an affectionate hug and thanks again
