To the rear of the cottage is a decked terrace with views over the sea and coastline, perfect for dolphin spotting whilst enjoying a well earned sundowner after an exhilarating day on one of New Quay's three beaches, or messing about on the water, sailing, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, fishing or taking one of the many dolphin watching or fishing boat trips all available in New Quay and a short walk from the cottage.

Alternatively put your feet up after walking one of the many coastal paths very close to the cottage, which form part of the Ceredigion Coastal path, walking guides and OS maps are available in the cottage.

Relax in the large comfortable living room with ample seating for six,a 40 inch TV with Freeview, DVD player, radio CD player, Iphone dock and woodburner.

The kitchen diner is very well equipped with double electric oven, halogen hob, fridge, microwave, slow cooker, dishwasher, woodburner and seating for six people.

However there are numerous eating establishments in New Quay ranging from Restaurants, Pubs, Cafes, Take Aways and of course Fish and Chip shops so that you can enjoy your fish and chips on the quay or the beach.

All the local eateries pride themselves on sourcing local produce, where possible, and the fish on your plate may well have been landed that day by some of the local fishermen who sell their catch on the quayside.

Alternatively take a picnic, we have a picnic hamper and picnic rug at the cottage.

Why not enjoy alfresco meals at home on the rear deck area with a large barbeque.

There is a separate utility room next to the kitchen, with a washing machine, drying facilities, including a tumble dryer, and fridge freezer.

Next to the utility room is a downstairs shower room perfect for washing off the sand after a day on the beach.

Upstairs there are 2 double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, which has a tv,dvd and games console with a number of games to keep the little ones entertained. Also available at the cottage is a high chair and travel cot.

The rear double bedroom has wonderful sea views and is next to the family bathroom which has a bath with hand held shower and a separate shower cubicle.

The cottage is heated by a wood pellet biomass central heating system, during the colder months, when the central heating is required, it is necessary to fill the boiler with pellets daily, requiring lifting, usually three, 10 kg bags up to the boiler.

The system is very easy to use and is very environmentally friendly, if you have any concerns about the heating system please do not hesitate to contact me.

Although there is no parking at the cottage within 100 metres is a pay and display car park with a weekly multi use tariff of £21.00.

For larger parties Garthowen can be booked with Clydfan Property 6732266, 3 doors away at a 10% discount of the overall cost.

Jo has all bases covered, the house is beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. It’s my third stay at the cottage, and look forward to going again. Newquay has a lot to offer, the locals are warm and friendly . The Seahorse pub is not to be past by.

Another great stay in a wonderful place. The cottage has all we need

  • 5 of 5

We love the layout of the cottage. The boiler is very efficient (once you remember to keep loading with pellets each day) for a winters day .We brought logs and sticks with us for the fires and have left the unused logs for the next tenant.

The only observation for maintenance is that one of the radiators in the living room (nearest the fire)never became warm although it was full of water. It didn't matter as we also had the fire in that room.

We hope,God willing ,to see you again.

What a wonderful cottage

  • 4 of 5

This cottage is exactly as described and is beautifully furnished to a very high standard. We especially loved the enormous bean bag and comfortable sofas. The kitchen has everything you need but if I was being picky, I would have liked an extractor above the hob to help take away the smells of the cooking. The bedrooms and bathrooms are tastefully decorated and again had everything that you needed. The outside space to the rear of the property is to die for with stunning views over the bay. Unfortunately the weather was not nice enough for us to take advantage of it.

My only negative, and the reason for only four stars is the noise from the road. I knew the cottage was situated on the road but I was not expecting the levels of noise from the amount of cars and passers by. It was like having the windows open. An obvious improvement would be to add double glazing to the front of the house which would help greatly. I live on a main road myself so I know that having double glazing makes a big difference to noise levels.

To be fair, the fact that the property is on the road is probably reflected in the price.

Overall we had an excellent weekend and would recommend the cottage to others.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you will be able to come back again when the weather is good enough for you to use the deck area. Your comment about the noise from the street is totally justified, the double glazed windows are on order! They should have been fitted 2 weeks before your stay but unfortunately I'm still awaiting delivery. Hopefully next time you stay they will be installed and you will be able to give the cottage a 5 star review :)

Beautiful home from home

  • 5 of 5

Another glorious holiday in this marvellous house 😁? Although we did t have the best weather to start with, it soon brightened up and a good time was had by all.

Very well equipped 'home' and plenty to keep you occupied on rainy days. The addition of sun loungers on the decking were a nice surprise.

We had a surprise visit from a very friendly black cat one morning who made himself quite at home, the kids loved him 💜? we think he belonged to a neighbour.

Well worth the 5 hour drive.

We were a party of four adults and a five month old baby, fitting in a much needed break, in between a course of chemotherapy. We were introducing our newest family member to Cei Newydd where we have been holidaying for over fifty years. The property was perfect! Beautifully furnished, and extremely well equipped - we needed for nothing. It was wonderful to sit on the deck and take in the sea view - unfortunately the weather meant we did not make use of the sun loungers. This was our first time self-catering, and God-willing it will not be our last. We hope to return soonest, which says it all. There was a little traffic noise at the front of the cottage, and a little late-night noise from drunken revellers, but nothing to spoil the stay. So pleased we found Garthowen, and highly recommend.
