Located in a self-contained position within the grounds of our typical Spanish villa in El Faro and less than a 5 minute walk along a pretty country path to the beach and a variety of excellent restaurants, this apartment is a world away from the hustle and bustle of the Costa del Sol but is still surprisingly close to the main tourist towns of Fuengirola, La Cala and Marbella which are all just a short drive or bus ride away, making it a destination that is ideal for both memorable holidays and long winter breaks.
El Faro is best known locally for its iconic lighthouse and the soft golden sands of the beach are broken here and there with rock pools that draw children of all nationalities with nets and buckets and the desire to catch the biggest crab possible, making it an excellent option for lazy days in the sun. In the evenings there is a large choice of restaurants catering for all tastes ranging from those serving international cuisine and cocktails, in a white, sophisticated atmosphere to the traditional chiringuito’s on the beach where the menu is shorts, flip flops and fresh paella. All of the local restaurants are within easy walking distance from the villa and are open from early evening until late at night. From Spanish, Italian, British, Nordic, Mexican, Chinese and Indian to Speciality Seafood, all of the restaurants in El Faro invariably offer generous platefuls and good value for money.
If you do not intend to hire a car during you stay, El Faro has several small supermarkets that stock all of the everyday essentials however if you prefer a more varied choice, a quick and reasonable taxi ride (or about 10 minutes by bus) will take you to Fuengirola or La Cala where you will find Lidl, Aldi, Carrefour or Mercadona.
If you would to explore the Mijas Costa by public transport, from Fuengirola with its shops, water sports and markets, you can visit the popular tourist town of Mijas and Malaga or in the other direction you will find La Cala and then Marbella (about 45 minutes by bus) with its famous Golden Mile beach and fantastic Orange Square.
The villa guest apartment is fully equipped with all the comforts of a home from home including full air conditioning/heating and unlimited fibre optic internet access with British television, all at no extra charge. The apartment is licensed by the Junta de Andalucía for holiday rentals under reference VFT/MA/02129 therefore meeting all of the legal requirements under current legislation in Spain and has won several Certificates of Excellence.

Unfortunately the villa is not wheelchair friendly.
Please note that only guests registered as staying in the villa apartment are allowed to use the swimming pool. The pool is checked and cleaned each morning and can be used until 8:00 pm each night.
You can travel to the apartment either by car hired from Malaga airport, get a taxi from the public taxi rank outside the airport, catch a train then a bus or there are plenty of local transfer companies who you can book to collect you directly from inside the arrivals hall.
You can hire a car locally for a few days sightseeing if desired and secure parking is available in our private garage.
We will arrange to personally greet you on your arrival and will (including our dog called Vulcan) never disturb you during your stay however we are always available in case you would like any information or assistance whilst you are here.

Restaurant Colinas del Faro - A great family choice for meats and fishes to pizzas and burgers. On a Saturday evening in the summer there is the added alternative of an amazing Argentinian BBQ and on special nights you will find entertainment, live music and dancing at this very popular local restaurant, just a couple of minutes walk.
Chiringuito El Charcon - BBQ sardines, chicken skewers or paella right on the beach or cool cocktails (including great non-alcoholic choices) sangria or a bucket of beer to enjoy in their relaxing chill out zone and only about 5 minutes walk.
Taberna Dona Maria - Popular family restaurant with a very relaxed atmosphere and a great choice of simple, fresh, tasty Spanish cuisine including of course, tapas at lunchtime; all at very sensible prices and less than a 5 minute walk.
Restaurant Play Mijas - Fine dining beautifully presented in luxurious and tasteful surroundings with amazing panoramic sea views. An experience to savour and less than a 10 minute stroll.

AquaMijas Waterpark in Fuengirola (April to September) Kamikaze, Adventure River, and Labyrinth Slides are sure to provide fast and fun entertainment while there are also more low key mini slides ideal for younger children about 15 minutes on the bus.
In La Cala de Mijas where you will find quaint shops, tempting Spanish restaurants, traditional Flamenco dancing in the square, side by side with the internationally renowned Elliot Wright’s “Olivia’s” about 25 minutes walk or 10 minutes by bus.
Locally grown fruit and veg, handmade crafts, vintage items, antique goods and an ubiquitous flea market, all make up the extensive market found twice weekly in Fuengirola. If you are feeling more adventurous you will also find a fantastic selection of water sports on offer including Jet Ski hire, parasailing and even sea kayaking. Only about 15 minutes by bus.
Donkey rides for the children or horse drawn carriages for the family are a great way to tour the beautiful and traditional white washed village of Mijas about 20 minutes by car.
Famous for its artesian boutiques, beautiful beaches, wealthy population and even its “Marbs” culture, a visit to Marbella is an opportunity not to be missed. Orange Square in Marbella Old Town is a hidden gem, only 8 minutes from the beach where the beautiful plaza is shaded by the boughs of its famous orange trees and tapas bars and delightful restaurants offer the best of Andalusian cuisine. Marbella is about 45 minutes by bus.
Visit the exclusive restaurants, designer shops and mega yachts in chic international Puerto Banus about 30 minutes by car.
Malaga City boasts a sleek port, an exciting culinary scene, an abundance of artistic attractions including, of course, the famous Picasso Museum and a rich variety of historic architecture to admire including its 16th century cathedral, the Moorish citadels of the Alcazaba and Gilfarbaro, and a Roman Amphitheatre. From its cobbled streets of the old quarter to its gleaming boutique stores and rooftop bars in the city centre, the possibility to explore extends down to the sea and the palm-tree-dotted sands of Playa de la Malagueta. Here children play during the day and adults party at night to music concerts and fireworks during Malaga’s summer festival. Malaga is about 30 minutes by car.
Magnificent scenery and grand architecture are breath-taking over the El Tajo gorge in Ronda about 1 hour 15 minutes by car or local coach trip.
Not for the faint hearted, the world famous Caminito del Ray mountain trail runs along pathways and boardwalks that are either pinned to the steep cliffs of rugged canyons or suspended high above spectacular gorges. The 8 km trail runs along the Hoyo Valley to the famous rock climbing centre of El Chorro and is about 1 hour by car.
Duty free shopping, views to the Riff Mountains of Morocco from the southernmost point of the Iberian Peninsula and getting to meet the famous Rock Apes make for an unforgettable trip to Gibraltar about 1 hour by car or local coach trip.
Chaparral Golf Club - situated in one of the most privileged settings on the Costa del Sol; close to the sea but surrounded by a forest of pine trees. It is the only course on the Costa del Sol made up of 6 par 5’s, 6 par 4’s and 6 par 3’s and is only about 5 minutes by car.
