The apartment, very bright, is located in a charming palace of the '20s, to the limit of the district Coppedè. The area is elegant, quiet, well connected to the city center. The house can accommodate from 1 to 5 people, is composed of a large living room, 1 bedroom with double bed and 1 bedroom with double bed, kitchen, bathroom and two small balconies. The apartment, climate control, has been recently renovated.
We absolutely loved our stay. The apartment is extremely comfortable and has everything you need. It is very well suited for a family, even down to the details of a high chair, plastic plates and utensils for children, and even a portable crib that our host kindly provided for us (we didn't expect this but in the end used it every night and were grateful for it). Dishwasher, laundry, and fully equipped kitchen made us very comfortable and at-home for a longer stay.
Cristina was very kind and accommodating, arranging a driver for us from the airport, and providing lots of helpful information about the neighborhood, which has easy access to beautiful parks, great restaurants, and more.
It's a little quieter and less rushed than being in the center of the city, but it's very easy to access anything you need or want on foot, by bus, or by metro. If you will only be in Rome for a day or two, it might be a bit out-of-the-way from the main sites, but if you plan to settle in and stay awhile, it is the ideal location for a Rome home base.
We loved enjoying a glass of wine on the balcony and listening to/watching the city. Also, a gorgeous sunrise view if you happen to be up very early.
In the neighborhood, don't miss the Catacomb of Priscilla, Villa Ada, Parco Virgiliano (if you have kids), the Mausoleum of Santa Costanza (and even stay to catch a pickup soccer game in the field right outside it), gelato at Gel'Istria, cannoli from Marinari, and pizza from San Marino.
If we return to Rome, I would absolutely hope to stay here again. I strongly recommend it as a great home base for an extended stay in Rome. I miss it already.
We traveled to Rome in July and while it was extremely hot outside, even without air conditioning, the apartment was comfortable in the evenings when we returned from exploring the city. The pictures accurately reflect the apartment and Cristina is extremely nice, helpful and accessible.
Since the apartment is located in a neighborhood, one is able to have a local experience as a opposed to a tourist experience. There is plenty to eat within a very short walking distance from the place, including grocery stores.
2 adults and 2 children (8 and 11). The flat was nicely equipped and we had a terrific stay while enjoying 5 days in Rome. Our host was responsive and ready to assist with any requests, including arranging a driver from the airport.
We stayed in this sunny apartment for a week in July (Me, my husband and our 2 teens). The apartment has very large, sunny rooms, very high ceilings, is nicely decorated and in a great neighborhood. Owner was very nice - responding quickly to inquiries, meeting us at apartment, giving good recommendations, local info.
It is not clear in the Homeaway photos(lots of bed pictures w different bed-coverings): apartment has 2 BR with a double bed in each and there is a pull out sofa in the living room. Plenty of room for our group.
Neighborhood is great - full of restaurants, shops, nice local indoor market. We enjoy staying in a local neighborhood instead of in tourist area, but be aware that this apt is 15 minute walk to subway and about 10 minute subway to city center. Subway is cheap, quick, clean, reliable. Bus stops are closer but require more patience. This apartment is just outside main tourist area.
My reasons for 4 instead of 5 stars: No shower. There is a sprayer in the tub but no curtain so hard to bathe without making a wet mess of the bathroom. Streets are a bit noisy with windows open. No A/C. The apartment stayed cool enough, even in hot July weather when we closed up the windows and shutters during the day, but due to the number of restaurants in the neighborhood (that's my guess, at least), there is a lot of street noise at night when windows are open.
All in all, great apartment, good location. I recommend it and would stay there again.
The area is quiet, residential, not far from Villa Ada and Villa Borghese; Via Chiana, in addition to the local market, you can find numerous restaurants and shops of various kinds (within a hundred meters we announce a wonderful grocery store, a wonderful bakery, our dyeing of trust, a charming bistro and more: ask for advice !).
The neighborhood is semicentrale Trieste and well served by public transport, taxi stand is two blocks away (Piazza Verbano).
