Beautiful condo, wonderful stay!
This was our first trip to Maui, and I had some trouble deciding where to stay along Ka'anapli Beach. I was initially leaning toward properties along the southern end of the beach, but the amazing views of the ocean from the Mahana eventually drew me in. I couldn't have made a better decision. The property is literally right at the ocean's edge, and the views are so good that you feel like you're on a cruise ship. Even the pool is right on the beach...I can't even describe how relaxing it is to lay out listening to both the guests in the pool and the waves of the ocean. All in all, the property is very relaxing with a laid-back clientele, along with an easy check-in process and ample (free!) parking. We also enjoyed the immediate area. Everything is within a short drive (you must try Slappy Cakes!) and you also have access to the beach walk in front of all of the other resorts. I highly recommend walking it at sunset - so pretty. Plus, you can stop in and grab at drink at one of the many beach bars along the way.
The condo itself at 1009 Mahana is gorgeous. Both bedroom are large with comfortable king-sized beds and spacious bathrooms. The living room has terrific views and a very comfortable sofa with a pull-out bed. The kitchen is beautiful and well-stocked with utensils and any supplies you might need. In fact, the entire condo is stocked with almost anything you'll need, from beach towels to toiletries to fans in every room. The Japanese- themed decor is pretty cool and added to the beauty of the island. Sue herself is wonderful to deal with, and made the entire reservation process and stay completely hassle-free. Her housekeeper does a lovely job and the entire place was immaculate.
Tips for the condo: Remember to keep the living room shades down in the afternoon, or the sun will heat up the whole room. Try to wash the towels on a daily basis, as the washer is small and can only handle a few at a time. Enjoy sleeping with the sliding doors open as you listen to the ocean right below you, but just beware that you might wake up feeling a little humid in the room (totally worth it though). Finally, relax and enjoy being on such a beautiful and awe-inspiring island!
Absolutely gorgeous!!
We came to Maui for our 10th anniversary and wanted to stay is a nice place. This property did not disappoint!!! What you see on the website is exactly what you get. Breathtaking views from the living room, balcony and bedroom. Watching the sunsets each night was just amazing. . Thank you for sharing your property with us.
Suggestions
Unit on a corner and very hot. Air conditioning inadequate for the living room especially. Would be a good idea to get another set of towels to cut down on the laundry .
Pretty views.
Nice place. Enjoyed our stay.
Loved everything!
Definitely will be back!
Fourth of July vacation
We enjoyed our stay in Kaanapali. The condo is centrally located with a great patio. We were able to take advantage of the pool (getting a lounge chair isn't a challenge like other large complexes), running on the Beach Walk boardwalk (around 4 miles roundtrip), as well as shopping/dining in Whalers Village and Lahaina. Parking is also easy unlike other areas/complexes in Kaanapali.
Location
The Mahana is direct oceanfront, offering breathtaking views up and down uncrowded North Ka'anapali Beach in West Maui and across the gorgeous Pacific to the islands of Lanai and Molokai. The weather systems over the two islands create amazing sunsets you can enjoy from your lanai each evening. You will revel in the quiet luxury of the Mahana and yet still appreciate its proximity to restaurants, shops, and activities. You are just two miles from Whalers Village and four miles from Lahaina where you can shop, enjoy meals at first-class restaurants, or just go out for a night on the town.
For those who love to walk along the beach, the Mahana is perfect. You have the choice of walking about two miles to the Sheraton at Black Rock either along the beach or on the boardwalk. You can then continue your walk to Whaler's Village and then on to the Hyatt at the far end of the boardwalk. Along the way, you will pass wonderful oceanfront restaurants including world-famous Duke's and also Castaway's. Walking from the Mahana in the other direction, north, you have two oceanfront cafes within five minutes, one at the Ka'anapali Beach Club and also at Ka'anapali Shores.
There is great snorkeling right in front of the resort, plus an oceanfront pool, hot tub, shuffleboard court, and bbq grills that are cleaned daily.
The Mahana has four championship golf courses nearby and easy access to the Challenge at Manele on the island of Lanai from the Lahaina Pier via the Expeditions ferry.
Your Mahana unit blends seclusion with the convenience of being right across the street from the best grocery store in the area, Times Market, a snorkel shop, delicatessen, Mexican Restaurant, real estate office, coffee shop, "make-your-own-pancakes" restaurant, therapeutic massage, fish market, sub shop, Italian restaurant, fishing and tackle shop, and many more.
