Cannot get any closer to the surf!

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at Mahana 1009! The view is spectacular, daily sunset becomes a ritual. The surf sound at night is comforting. Short walk to a nice beach where the snorkeling was surprisingly good. Dukes is right there if one happens to get parched. Fun watching fish schooling and hunting right below us from the lanai. Walking distance (or very short drive if one so desires) to good coffee at Bad Ass coffee, and one of the few real “fish markets” on the island. With the very nice grills by the pool, creating ones own fish dinner became a joy. All facilities well maintained and clean. We didn’t find a single thing the kitchen lacked in terms of untensils or dishes. The beach itself in the North Kaanapali area is (in my opinion) not quite a nice as South Kaanapali, but the North end is much quieter, far less crowded and lacks the commercial hustle bustle feel. For us, it was a better “Hawaii experience”without even accounting for the cost savings over similar units on the south beach. It also has less light pollution at night so the stars really pop. We even saw a complete arc moon bow one night, which was a spectacular event we didn’t even know was possible. Nothing gets you closer to the Ocean than Mahana!

Whalers is about a 30 minute walk on the boardwalk, or about 7 minutes by car. So not like one is disconnected in any way. We used Uber at night because nobody wanted to be the DD... Uber drivers were friendly, plentiful, and we never waited more than 3 or 4 minutes. Getting around that way at night was inexpensive and easy.

A shameless plug for Warren and Annabel’s... adults only Magic/comedy show in Lahaina is well worth the price of admission. Get reservations before you leave Home though or you probably won’t get in.

Our only critique is partly taste, partly utility. We like to unpack into drawers, and the furniture in the ocean side master was not very conducive to that. It’s pretty, but at the same time it’s big and makes the room feel a bit crowded. All that bulk provides very little in the way of practical drawer storage. That said, a minor nit and we made it work just fine. Lots of hanging space and plenty of hangers. More importantly the bed was very comfortable... not too hard not too soft.

15 days we will remember, and would be happy to rinse and repeat over and over.

The owner is great to deal with... another plus.

Excellent condo with breathtaking views

  • 5 of 5

The reviews were accurate -- the condo has everything you need, the views are amazing, great location, super comfy beds. The master has gorgeous floor-to-ceiling views of the ocean while the 2nd bedroom has views of the mountains! The only issue I had was that I found the dresser drawers in the master too small to store my clothes. It's not that I have a lot of clothes it's that the drawers are quite small capacity-wise. Not a big deal especially since every aspect of my stay was perfect. P.S. It's true that the beach immediately outside the condo isn't perfect but a short walk down the boardwalk (past Duke's) takes you to a much better beach.

We loved our week here at Mahana 1009! The views were outstanding, the condo was well-equipped and very clean. Sue provided great communication during the booking process and up through our check in. It was nice to have the Expedia concierge on site for booking excursions that week. We couldn't have asked for a better week and hope to be able to return someday soon. Thank you!

My husband and I took my mother here for Mother's Day this year. This is the absolutely most beautiful Condo I have ever stayed at in Hawaii. The price was so fantastic I could not believe my ears when other people staying in other condo's in the Mahana building would tell me how much they paid for their stay vs mine. Their condo's were not even close in comparison.

Sue was absolutely perfect to work with. Hassle free. She provided all the information we required for our stay and everything worked exactly as she stated it would according to her directions. Her written directions on how to get to the condo were flawless as well.

Once we arrived we did self checkin on the right side of the lobby (as you face the ocean) and it was super easy. Luggage carts are to the right of checkin by the elevator.

The condo slept wonderfully. I stayed in the garden room and it was so awesome to leave the curtains open and watch the sunrise every single morning. You simply cannot beat the view! The linen was really soft and the beds were extremely comfortable. There were also plenty of pillows and a good choice of super fluffy and flatter ones. The entire condo was decorated very tastefully and was super comfortable to us all! The AC kept things cool but be sure to close your window shades in the morning or you may get too hot in the afternoon.

There was a linen closet with beach towels and a washer and dryer. The washer and dryer worked great. There was also quite a bit beach play and snorkel equipment. There was a boogie board. Also lawn chairs and coolers. Be sure to take your own shampoo and bar soap. They provide only body wash.

The kitchen was well appointed! There was also zip lock bags, plastic wrap and tin foil. There was already coffee there in the freezer! Be sure to go to the condo FIRST prior to shopping You may save some money on your shopping!

The internet worked really good until prime time (6-10 p.m.) and when we tried to stream movies on Netflix it would pause and have to buffer every few minutes.

There are binocular glasses to look out the large windows with. We saw turtles down below

Dukes was next door a short walk on a paved pathway. Very convenient!

There are a lot of BBQ grills on site at the Mahana. Super easy to get to and nice tables with tropical umbrellas next to them. The pool area also is not crowded like other resorts. There is also a lot of BBQ Grills.

You really MUST stay in this condo!

Car: recommended

The Mahana is direct oceanfront, offering breathtaking views up and down uncrowded North Ka'anapali Beach in West Maui and across the gorgeous Pacific to the islands of Lanai and Molokai. The weather systems over the two islands create amazing sunsets you can enjoy from your lanai each evening. You will revel in the quiet luxury of the Mahana and yet still appreciate its proximity to restaurants, shops, and activities. You are just two miles from Whalers Village and four miles from Lahaina where you can shop, enjoy meals at first-class restaurants, or just go out for a night on the town.

For those who love to walk along the beach, the Mahana is perfect. You have the choice of walking about two miles to the Sheraton at Black Rock either along the beach or on the boardwalk. You can then continue your walk to Whaler's Village and then on to the Hyatt at the far end of the boardwalk. Along the way, you will pass wonderful oceanfront restaurants including world-famous Duke's and also Castaway's. Walking from the Mahana in the other direction, north, you have two oceanfront cafes within five minutes, one at the Ka'anapali Beach Club and also at Ka'anapali Shores.

There is great snorkeling right in front of the resort, plus an oceanfront pool, hot tub, shuffleboard court, and bbq grills that are cleaned daily.

The Mahana has four championship golf courses nearby and easy access to the Challenge at Manele on the island of Lanai from the Lahaina Pier via the Expeditions ferry.

Your Mahana unit blends seclusion with the convenience of being right across the street from the best grocery store in the area, Times Market, a snorkel shop, delicatessen, Mexican Restaurant, real estate office, coffee shop, "make-your-own-pancakes" restaurant, therapeutic massage, fish market, sub shop, Italian restaurant, fishing and tackle shop, and many more.

Ask Manager a Question

  • Before you make a reservation, please recognize that I book our units back-to-back where guests arrive in the afternoon of the morning other guests depart. If a guest chooses dates that are not back-to-back, then the goal is to leave a seven night space between bookings since that is what most people request. Please email me with any questions before booking.

When you make your reservation and pay your deposit, please include your cell number when asked for your phone and email me if you haven't received a confirmation within 12 hours. I will need to confirm that your dates integrate well with my calendar and provide you with a confirmation email and guest license agreement.

Although I take credit cards for the initial deposit, I would appreciate you sending a check for the final payment as this helps me keep the rates as low as possible. Your initial deposit made online will include a booking fee that goes straight to VRBO/HomeAway for making your reservation.

If you are reserving 12 or more days, my faithful and wonderful housekeeper, Luretta, has asked that I add a mid-term cleaning of $60 to completely clean the unit and change the sheets and towels. I will add another mid-term cleaning for each additional week you rent, though these fees will be added after you make your reservation. The exit cleaning fee of $185 is for 4 people; $210 for 5; $235 for 6. There is not a way to include these fees for additional guests as part of the online booking, so they will be added once you make your reservation.

I am excited about helping you make this the most wonderful vacation ever! Sue
