Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday villa in Vamos - Zeus Bay Luxury Villa

An Architectural Gem With Every Amenity, Near Almyrida And Plaka but V. Private

Sleek, sexy, and deliciously modern, Villa Zeus Bay is a glass-encased architectural gem embraced by the arms of north-western Crete’s inimitably evocative land and seascapes. Dramatically set on manicured 4000m2 plot surrounded by native scrub and craggy coastline, and white caps glistening like diamonds atop the mirrored Aegean Sea, this secluded and utterly chic three bedroom multi-level retreat is the quintessence of quiet luxury. A brand new magazine-worthy property that also manages to invoke a warm and homey vibe, the spacious residence is suffused in serene color -- pearly grays punctuated by radiant amethyst and lilac hues -- and is invitingly kitted with plush furnishings and top-of-the-line amenities, including under-floor cooled or heated tiling. Great walls of translucent windows and doors reveal panoramic sea and mountain views from every room, with nature’s splendors merging seamlessly into an elegantly restful living environment.

Verdant lawns offset sculptured rock and flower gardens that kiss the sloping hillside, a scattering of distant red-roofed houses visible amid the otherwise virgin landscape. Grand stone-paved patios ensconce a solar heated 40 square meter infinity swimming pool (with steps and a shallow child-friendly adjacent area), its glistening waters melting like sapphires into the endless sea beyond. Delicate breeze wafting like whispers from a Grecian Goddess co-mingle with the chatter of birds and cicadas to create a harmonious symphony that echoes through this otherwise silent sanctuary.

Furnished vista terraces abut each of the home’s three levels, and a fashionably outfitted pergola-covered cabana (with two large 3-seater couches and coffee table) skirts a large dining table and barbecue area to create a comfortable exterior lounge. Sun beds and umbrellas edge the pool while a vast sand pit/boules court, outdoor table tennis and basketball net, and two astro-turfed areas (great for kids to play) further inspires countless hours of open-air recreation and relaxation.

Completed in May 2014, every up-to-date fitting, appliance, ornamental and functional element contained within this spectacular contemporary villa reflects the owner’s exacting aesthetic and exceptionally high standards. It is clear upon arrival that love and pride dictated this project and infuses this blue ribbon show piece from top to toe -- from the fresh décor of the rooftop patio to the furnished basement/home theatre/games room replete with projector and sliding cinema screen alongside a convertible football/air hockey table; from the custom cabinetry and subzero refrigerator that highlights the large kitchen to the luxuriant bedding and handcrafted wardrobes that define the sleeping quarters; from the fact that none of the bedrooms share connecting walls to that ensure privacy between the guests to the mosquito screens and backup air-conditioning that guarantees comfort; from the free satellite TV that provides entertainment and the wireless internet that affords convenience -- everything in this home has been carefully considered, thoughtfully chosen, and fastidiously executed.

This is a property that fuels the senses and stirs the imagination, so deliriously calming and private (the closest house is 400m away) it’s easy to forget that life exists beyond the mechanized decorative iron entry gate. But less than a kilometre away (perhaps a 20 minute stroll though olive groves) the historic hamlet of Plaka offers a small grocery store and selection of quaint tavernas while sea-front restaurants, curio and convenience shops, and an alluring ribbon of sandy beach awaits just one kilometre further in the bustling coastal village of Almyrida. You may never want to leave this halcyon haven. But if you do, Crete’s bounty beckons.

***The entire villa features under-floor heating/cooling tiles and backup A/C units in each room.

About Miss Frankie Miles

Zeus Bay Villa is exclusively booked by Frankie Miles. Frankie runs Villas Crete Holidays which is a registered Tourist Office, based in Hampshire, England and Almyrida, Crete. Whilst most travel companies cover many different countries and/or areas of Greece and Crete, we at Villas Crete Holidays only work in the North West of Crete and we specialise in the Apokoranas region, just east of the historic Venetian town of Chania. The Apokoronas (including the villages of Almyrida, Kalives, Kokkino Horio, Plaka and Gavalohori) has long been a popular destination for holiday makers seeking a typically Greek seaside resort area that has many amenities, but is far removed from brash tourism. The area is renowned for its sandy beaches, crystal clear turquoise water, stunning views of Souda Bay and The White Mountains, excellent tavernas, and archaeological sites.

Frankie is very hands-on at Villas Crete Holiday. She has worked with rental villas on Crete for more than 18 years and has written the best selling guide book "Crete on the Road". The book includes detailed directions and information to all the major tourist attractions, as well as many hidden sites. Also in the book is the only existing map of the National Highway showing all of the entrances/exits and distances. Frankie’s unrivalled knowledge, love of the island, and attention to detail is now being fully put to use to guarantee a fantastic holiday for our guests. Before Crete, Frankie lived all over the world. She initially came to Crete for 1 season after 12 hectic years in New York working various jobs including: office manager for the band Simply Red; production assistant to the singer Paul Simon; and booking bands such as Guns N’ Roses for The Limelight nightclub. All of this was no match, however, to the fantastic weather and food, the warmth of the Cretan people, and the exquisite natural beauty of Crete. When (very occasionally) not working, Frankie spends time helping the stray animals of Crete.

Why Miss Frankie Miles chose Chania area

This is the most popular of all of the villas that we handle. It books up well in advance because it is not only very beautiful, with such good amenities, but it is also very private and with fabulous views.

Despite the good privacy Zeus Bay Villa is only 1km from the shops, and tavernas in Plaka. You can walk on a country track, through olive groves to have a delicious meal and a drink (or two) without worrying about driving home.

It is very rare to find a villa on Crete that has any form of pool heating but Zeus Bay Villa does have solar panels to help boost the water temperature. Whilst this form of heating does entirely depend upon the amount of sun each day, and the air temperature at night, it is better than a pool without any form of heating because they are decidedly chilly.

What makes this villa unique

Villas Crete Holidays truly are the Apokoronas Specialists as unlike other offices, 3 of the 4 members of our expert team live and work here all year round which enables us to always have completely up-to-date information about the villas, local facilities, and tourist attractions. We can help you with all aspects of your holiday including good value, reliable car hire, airport transfers, local information about shops, beaches, tavernas etc, detailed driving directions or walking directions for many routes. We can also arrange private boat hire, private boat trips, private sight-seeing flights, horse riding, water-skiing, big game fishing, guided walking, and guided coach excursions. Our office staff speak English, Greek, and a little French, and have a vast list of local contacts, and our representative in resort also speaks some Italian.

Both the company itself, and Frankie's book have been featured and recommended in articles in major British newspapers including the Sunday Mail and the Sunday Telegraph, as well as smaller publications such as Greece Magazine.

Most importantly, because we handle many villas, in the unlikely event that there is an unforeseen problem at your villa, we can usually offer you an alternative villa (although this cannot be guaranteed in high season).

We have many years experience working in tourism on Crete, and most importantly this experience is specifically related to villa rentals, which needs a very different area of expertise to other types of tourism such as walking holidays, or package holidays for the masses. We use all of our knowledge and local contacts to ensure that your holiday goes off smoothly from start to finish, from first booking the villa that is most suitable for you, to your arrival back home. When you are in resort, we are available during office hours for information, and 24 hours a day should you need medical assistance, yet we remain unobtrusive.

The main square in Plaka is only 1.2km from Zeus Bay Villa and is still very much the focal point of village life. There are lovely shady mulberry trees under which the locals sit to watch the world go by whilst enjoying a delicious meal or even just an ice cold frappé. Plaka was one of the original village sets for the film “Zorba the Greek” and it still has quaint whitewashed houses and narrow streets leading off from the square. The modern outskirts of the village have expanded recently as have the facilities, which now include 7 tavernas, 2 well stocked mini markets, a shop with local products, an Italian restaurant, and 6 cafes.

The lovely village of Almyrida is only 2.3km from Zeus Bay Villa, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 13 excellent tavernas, 6 cafés, 2 bars, 2 bakeries, 1 Italian ice cream shop, a wonderful jewellery shop, a clothes shop, 4 mini-markets, 7 gift shops, a pharmacy, an organic fruit and vegetable shop with a deli counter, an off-license/ drinks shop, a butcher, a nail spa, 1 kiosk, a health and wellness spa, a hair dresser, and 3 real estate offices. Also in Almyrida there is a space with pool tables and a variety of games machines, pedalo rentals, a children's play centre, a scuba diving office, a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans, and Villas Crete Holidays for tourist information, private boat hire, boat trips, horse riding, private sight-seeing flights, guided walking tours, and guided coach excursions.

A few minutes by car from the villa, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio, and lace making in Gavalohori. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car.

Cooking classes and wine tasting set at a local wineries can be taken by those of you who are interested. Guided walks led by experts in mountaineering and/or flora and fauna can also be arranged. For those of you who prefer to venture out on your own, a copy of the guide book 'Crete on the Road' by Frankie Miles comes with every villa. The book contains detailed directions to many well known and hidden sites, opening times and prices for all attractions, taverna recommendations, and the only existing map of the National Highway showing the exits and entrances.

Crete has everything you that could possibly want from a holiday: soaring mountains that are snow capped from November to June, many great walking trails including Europe's deepest gorge, ancient archaeological sites and Minoan palaces, quaint villages, sparkling clear blue seas with tavernas serving freshly caught fish, golden beaches, glorious wild flowers in the Spring, and a variety of delicious foods which are all made from healthy home grown produce.

As incredible as the island is, it is the Cretan people who will make your holiday truly memorable. Descendants of the Minoan's, one of Europe's earliest civilizations, and shaped by centuries of struggle against oppression, the Cretans are as rugged as the mountains, fiercely independent but passionately friendly.

Zeus Bay Villa is located in the heart of The Apokoronas Region just east of the beautiful town of Chania. With its stunning Venetian harbour, quayside bars and restaurants, what better place to relax and watch the world go by. In the narrow streets behind Chania's harbour you will find tavernas, bars, the famous covered market, and many local shops selling handicrafts, textiles, jewellery and hand made ceramics. Visit 'Leather Lane' for outstanding hand made leather bargains.

The climate of Crete is a temperate Mediterranean climate and the weather is characterized by long hot, dry summers and mild winters. The Spring can be warm and sunny during the day but still have cooler evenings and is perfect for walking, birdwatching and looking at the wild flowers. All in all Crete is absolutely perfect for your Villa holiday.
