absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

I rented the house to accommodate my big family that came over from abroad to see me. It was a full house for two weeks! They loved the house! It is really charming and perfectly located. It is very close to supermarkets and the centre of Ely plus it is just a stone throw to the river. With such a short walk to the station, my family could go to Cambridge really quickly and easily. The house is big enough to accommodate lots of people, but at the same time it feels cosy and confortable.

The house is perfect and that you can see in the pictures. What you can not see is how helpful, friendly and professional the landlords are. They were fast to reply any of my questions, they were always reachable and they were really, really helpful and flexible. Massive thanks to them for making my family trip so much easier and pleasant. I would definitely recommend it and for sure me and my family would stay over again.

Beautiful old house in lovely position

  • 5 of 5

This lovely, comfortable old house was a pleasure to stay in and added hugely to the enjoyment of our holiday! It was full of interesting historic features, well-equipped, and furnished in an attractive mixture of old and new with some homely personal touches. The garden was charming and peaceful; I enjoyed drinking my tea out there first thing in the morning. Waterside is a pretty, well-maintained road, a short, easy walk from the the railway station, riverside, cathedral, pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops. It took us less than a minute to walk to two major supermarkets (which are neatly tucked away from immediate view). We were pleased to meet Ony and David, who were helpful and courteous throughout our dealings with them, at the end of our stay. We most certainly warmly recommend this property.

Charming historic cottage in the centre of Ely, 5 minutes walk to the architectural marvel of Ely Cathedral (built 1083-1189), 2 minutes to the attractive riverside, with excellent eating places, and a short 13 minute walk to Ely Station, with trains to Cambridge (17 minutes), London (65 minutes), Stansted Airport, Norwich and Birmingham. Three superstores, Sainsburys, Waitrose and Tesco are within walking distance.

Ely is one of England’s smallest cities, population 20,256 (2011 Census). The city originated as an abbey, founded in 673. Ely Cathedral was first built in the 10th Century; the present building was built over the 116 years from 1083 to 1189.

The Cathedral School, King’s School, Ely, was founded in 970. Edward the Confessor (King of England 1042 – 1066) was a pupil at the school, 1005-1010; as was my son-in-law, 1990-1995.
