A beautiful traditional "courtyard" house with roof garden in the peaceful village of Malona. Situated on a quiet street in the heart of the village. Entry is via a large private walled courtyard. From the courtyard there is access to the main living area with 2 single mezzanine bedrooms, the main double bedroom, the kitchen dining room, and WC/shower room. The courtyard also has outdoor dining furniture, a traditional BBQ and covered utility area (washing machine, sink etc) and access to the ROOF GARDEN. The owners have recently refurbished the property, giving holidaymakers the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a traditional village home, but with all modern conveniences provided.
Resorts : Haraki Bay / Agathi Beach: At 4km, Haraki Bay is your nearest resort. Leave the car in the square, wander down past the church, and one of the most beautiful horseshoe bays in Greece will open out before you. Take a walk along the pedestrian only promenade with its single row of laid-back tavernas and friendly family run restaurants. The bay is overlooked by the ruins of Pheraklos Castle, which provide an especially dramatic backdrop when lit up at night. During the day, some tavernas will offer you free use of their sunbeds and parasols if you make good use of their bar facilities!
Also at 4km are the soft golden sands of Agathi Beach, backed by nothing but mountains and sand dunes. The sea is warm, shallow and clear, providing safe swimming for all, and great snorkelling. Sunbeds and parasols are available to rent, and not overcrowded, and there is a choice of 3 licensed marquee style-tavernas serving everything from cold drinks to a 3 course meal at very reasonable prices. Perfect family beach resort!
A free basic welcome pack is provided for your arrival, or the kitchen can be stocked to your order at cost, leaving you more time to enjoy your stay.
An introductory tour of the village and the two nearby resorts is provided free, and you will find guide books, information and maps in the house should you wish to venture further afield.
Local Transport : A car is highly recommended for your stay, though not completely essential. Hitch hiking is still a good way to get around the island during the day. The bus services through the village are regular (hourly) if not entirely punctual, and will take you to Rhodes Town, Lindos and all points between for just a few euros.
I was very lucky to have found such a fabulous villa available for a couple of nights when I was let down with where I was due to stay. Martin got back in touch quickly and even picked me up from just down the road in Haraki Bay.
The kitchen & living area are spacious with all you need for a self catering stay, including a juke box!! The large double bedroom shown at the top of picture is also spacious, cool & comfortable. If you get the chance I would heartily recommend staying here in Malona, where all the locals are very friendly.
Haraki Bay and Agathi Beach, Rhodes best kept secrets, and where the Rhodeans go on Sundays, only 4km. Lindos, 10km.
A spectacular new road through the mountains to the west coast means you can explore the whole island from your base in Malona. Nowhere is more than 1 hour away.
