Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Ladbroke Grove - Aldridge Road Villas

2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 4

Overview

Cool, calm and collected, the interior of this London vacation rental is sleek and modern. Located at the Northern part of Notting Hill, a colourful and artistic part of the city, with dazzling markets, including the world famous Portobello Market. Creative street art and an array of diverse and buzzing eating establishments, you would be hard pushed not to enjoy your stay here. Contemporary furnishings and an open plan style give it an air of space and modern simplicity.

Living & Eating

The kitchen is at one side of the living area, and has all the necessary equipment to rustle up a feast. There is a dining room table (seats four) to enjoy your culinary delights. For those who prefer to dine out, it's the perfect spot to sip some English Breakfast tea while planning the day's activity ahead.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

There are two light filled bedrooms. The master bedroom has a deliciously large king size bed (5ft wide), fabulous to sink into after a busy day in the market. The second bedroom has a double bed (4.5ft wide) equal in comfort, if not in size! The bathroom is tastefully finished in calming shades, and is kitted out with a toilet, basin and bath with a built in shower overhead.

Access & Layout

This apartment is located on the second floor, and there is an additional set of stairs when you go through the front door, up to the home. All the rooms are arranged on one level.

On Your Doorstep

The Ivy Lettings team loves Notting Hill; it has remained truly British over the years. This northern end of the Portobello Road has transformed in recent years into a hub of activity with ultra trendy restaurants like Pizza East putting down roots and award winning cafes seeming to be on every corner, Lowry & Baker does the most sensational brunch. Portobello Road, bursts at the seams with antiques, vintage fashion stores and bakeries. And if it is markets you are after, this area boasts some of the world’s best-loved stalls. You’re within walking distance of the magnificent Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, perfect for a morning stroll (or run for the more energetic). Finally, you may not want to spend the whole day here but if you are passing by and find yourself caught short, London’s most architecturally renowned public toilets are quite an experience in themselves. Aptly named the ‘Turquoise Island’, since their design in 1993 by modernist architect Piers Gough, they operate as half florist, half-toilet and quite a focal point of the area. The florist in question, Nikki Tibbles, defeated 70 rivals to win this spot, interestingly her other shop sites include Harrods and Liberty of London.

This Notting Hill holiday apartment will suit a family or couples alike, in particular our American clients will appreciate the state of the art appliances and the contemporary furnishings throughout the apartment. Equally it will serve as excellent corporate accommodation, with easy tube access to the City and West End.

This property is professionally managed by Ivy Lettings, specialists in central London vacation rentals since 2009. Neighbourhood

When you are ready to venture out you are perfectly nestled within the bustling Notting Hill Streets. Foodies will delight in the abundance of options on your doorstep. From the unique Electric Diner to the classic Italian Mediterraneo you are surrounded by fantastic eateries. You are also only a 10 minute bus ride from the incredible Westfield shopping center at Shepherd’s Bush that is packed with some of London’s best restaurants and shops.

This northern end of the Portobello Road has transformed in recent years into a hub of activity with ultra trendy restaurants like Pizza East putting down roots and award winning cafes seeming to be on every corner. Along with these exciting prospects, there also happens to be an extremely good market, one which grew from the popularity of its big sister market- Portobello road, called Golborne Road Market. This is an exciting and eclectic mix of enticing street food vendors, fabulous vintage shopping and antique stalls- and happily, right at your door.

Perhaps you will spend the day exploring the eclectic and bustling Portobello Road, which you can join literally from your very doorstep. Originally a lane leading to Portobello Farm, its sides now burst at the seams with antiques, vintage fashion stores and bakeries. And if it is markets you are after, this area boasts some of the world’s best-loved stalls. The Portobello Green Fashion Market runs Thursday through to Sunday. Or head to Golborne Road for tempting food produce in the week, and first class bric-a-brac and second hand items at the weekend. Wandering down the colourful streets, it is not surprising that the area is home to many literary and bohemian festivals including the soulful Notting Hill Carnival in August and the Notting Hill International Book Festival in April.

If you want to go further afield you are ideally located a few minutes walk from Ladbroke Grove station, which is on the Hammersmith and City Line. With just one change at Paddington from here you can easily go to Kensington, the West End or Regents Park. A slightly further walk will take you to Notting Hill Gate Station that is well connected on both the District and Circle Lines and also the Central Line.

Don’t forget you’re within walking distance of the magnificent Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, perfect for a morning stroll (or run for the more energetic). Take a picnic under one of Hyde Park’s magnificent Oak trees. Watch the roller-bladers slalom through some cones, or rent a rowing boat and test your speed on the magnificent Serpentine.

West London’s Notting Hill has a personality as confused as the wares on display at its Portobello Market. On the one hand, the area once famed for its genteel sensibility, as the rows of Georgian townhouses and fashionable Westbourne Grove attest.

On the other hand...

On the other hand, it plays host to an enticing alternative culture, as well as a lively Caribbean diaspora, whose annual Carnival throngs with upwards of a million Londoners, all seeking the festival’s colourful floats and flavours. The event demonstrates that Notting Hill commands a rich variety beyond its portrayal in the 1999 Grant/Roberts picture.

Holland Park...

Holland Park is itself an enormous (54-acre) wooded wildlife park built around the ruins of Holland House. The House was bombed in 1940 during the Blitz, but today hosts the summertime opera outfit, Opera Holland Park. The park itself is edged by some of the finest real estate in London.
