This pretty south-facing villa used to be the old farm house where the violets of the region were collected before being sent to Grasse or Pont de Loup to be made into perfume. Owned by a botanist, the house’s links to nature are continued through the Provençal furnishings with Toile de Jouy and flower fabrics complimenting the many flower and botanical artwork.
Positioned in an elevated position, the house has truly stunning panoramic views of the Cote D’Azur – both day and night - and is only 1.5Km from the centre of medieval Tourrettes sur Loup. Popping into town takes just a couple of minutes in the car or a 20minute stroll.
Accommodating up to 6 people (3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms including 2 ensuite), this cosy property is peaceful and homely. The bedrooms are a good size and all have beautiful views – the master & 2nd bedroom have stunning views to Antibes and round to Nice in the east, and the 3rd bedroom opens onto a village & garden vista.
Downstairs, the living spaces are welcoming and full of French character. The eat-in kitchen is well equipped and the living / dining space has pretty soft furnishings, a large stone fireplace and plenty of space to entertain and relax. Patio doors open onto the long, shaded terrace (complete with barbecue) – the perfect spot for dinners al fresco. The pool is a couple of steps above the terraces and is surrounded by mature shrubs, making it very quiet and private.
The cottage garden is compact with plenty of mature Mediterranean shrubs, flowers, and olive & palm trees. Just the perfect spot for both adults and children to relax & enjoy the beautiful Provençal sunshine.

A perfect place to just relax or for access to the azure coast. The rooms and amenities are large and provide privacy for those staying there. The view, especially at night, is beyond spectacular. Easily one of the most comfortable places the 4 in our party have ever stayed. Antoine met us and was thoroughly professional, kind and patient with 4 weary, all day driving, English-only speaking tourists. He put us thoroughly at ease, went over everything and answered all of our questions. Antoine also had inspired ideas about where to dine that worked perfectly for us. I cannot recommend this property highly enough.
A spacious property in a quiet location within walking distance of the town centre; albeit via a steepish road. The property is set back from the road with ample outdoor space in its own grounds. It was generally clean indoors, but staining on bed headboard, chairs etc. made it feel rather tired in places. The fans in the bedrooms, much needed in the height of summer, were either very noisy or ineffective; as such, we struggled to cool to comfortable night-time temperatures since the mosquitos prevented leaving windows open (no mosquito mesh on windows). The kitchen was generally well equipped but many plates were chipped etc.
Outdoor loungers/furniture were getting towards the end of their life and the pool (a really decent size and comfortably warm) had several mosaics missing. The remote controlled entrance security gate was somewhat idiosyncratic; not the easiest to operate and having only 1 remote key was not ideal for larger groups of people.
Booking details, welcome and departure were well-managed by Pure Azur team, who seemed organised and helpful.
Overall, a property that, given a little investment, could be brought up to be truly wonderful; as it stands, the rental price goes some way to reflect its more ageing status.
Beautiful surroundings with everything you need for family break away. Lovely secluded heated pool which for littles ones was perfect. Short walk into the quaint town with lovely little shops and restaurants, best ice creams in the area!
Will definitely book again either with the family or for a lovely girlie weekend away!
Two weeks with kids was wonderful. Lovely airy house and great pool that it was hard to get the kids out of. Sitting on the terrace looking towards the coast was so relaxing and good for the soul.
Short walk to the village which is stunning and built on the side of a gorge - highly recommend the balcony at Le Cave and Clovis for views and food.
Part of the ‘Arrière Pays’, Tourrettes sur Loup offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the Mediterranean coast. Located 10 minutes’ drive from its more famous neighbour St Paul de Vence, 20 minutes from the coast and 30 minutes from Nice & Nice airport, Tourrettes has something for everyone, from keen walkers to culture vultures and foodies. The sweeping views over the mountains and down to the sea are intoxicating and seem to go on forever – this is a part of southern France that is for those ‘in the know’ looking for a more relaxed pace of life.
Perched on a rocky outcrop, Tourrettes sur Loup is straight out of a fairy tale: fortified walls, windy cobbled streets, arched medieval passageways, and a little stream that greets you as you stroll in past the old mill. But this tiny Provençal village is far from sleepy, boasting wine bars, excellent restaurants (including one awarded a Michelin star) artisan bakeries, grocery shops, butchers, art galleries & jewellery shops, and a market on Wednesday mornings.
The village has become a centre of art and there are many galleries to linger in and workshops to explore. Also known as the 'Cite des Violettes' due to its historical association with the nearby perfume industry in Grasse, you can still visit violet fields and buy produce in the village made with locally grown flowers.
There is always a good time to visit Tourrettes.
During the peak summer season the weather hots up, but being elevated from the coast means that it’s easier to escape the intensity of summer heat. There is a plethora of events, ranging from world-famous jazz concerts (Juan Les Pins, Nice, Antibes), International firework competitions (Cannes and along the coast), and of course locally the Fete de la Musique (June 21st) when the whole village comes to life with concerts and al fresco dining.
In winter, the weather can still be very mild. The local ski resort of Greôlières is a 45 minute drive and offers family skiing with spectacular views and mountain scenery. For a bigger ski domain, Valberg, Isola 200 and Auron are great for day trips. Other events not to be missed are the world-famous Nice carnival (February), Menton Lemon Festival (February) and Tourrettes’ very own Fete des Violettes (February): a unique event with music, locally decorated floats parading through the village and the infamous ‘bataille des fleurs’.
Spring & Autumn offer temperate, pleasant weather and a welcome escape from the grey skies of Northern Europe and cooler climes. And of course being out of season, there are fewer people and air fares can be cheaper.
The surrounding area offers much to explore. 45 minutes’ drive will take you to Cannes, Antibes, Nice or Juan les Pins. A little further along the coast is Monaco, Monte Carlo and the Italian border or head west and enjoy a day out in St. Tropez. There are five golf courses within a 30 minute drive. Active outdoor pursuits nearby in the Gorge du Loup and surrounding mountains include parasailing, hang gliding, canyoning and horse riding. There are some excellent and varied walks nearby for all levels of walkers or hikers, many in mountainous terrain with breath-taking views.
