We live in Fort Lauderdale, Fl and Don is an engineer/general contractor and Kathryn is an artist. We orginally thought the house would be a great vacation house, but it seems it is a source of endless creative projects!
Don purchased this house in 2005
WE HAVE A SPECIAL FOR ALL RACE TEAMS, WEEKENDS $84.00 a night per room, minimum 4 rooms to rent. Don is an amateur race car driver and loves the track. Kathryn is an artist and loves the natural lake views and peaceful atmosphere. She is originally from Indiana and is reminded of that Midwestern niceness of the people in the area.
We have plenty of room to entertain family and friends. After a noisy day at the track, or a busy day of sight seeing, it is wonderful to come 'home' to a quiet beautiful sunset over the lake. Life is good! Upstairs balcony makes for great star watching on the clear nights away from the big city lights.
My husband and I were looking for a lake cottage in the Sebring area where we could relax with our two dogs, and this was a perfect find! The cottage is right on Lake Josephine and sets on a huge, beautiful lot that is totally fenced in (which was great for our dogs). The cottage itself had everything that we needed and was very clean, spacious and well kept. We absolutely loved spending every evening at the end of the pier (which had a screened enclosure) watching the gorgeous sunsets. The lake itself is beautiful and peaceful, and the surrounding cottages are very nice and well kept. The location was perfect as well, as we were within 5 to 10 miles of grocery stores, restaurants, shopping malls, movie theatre, library, Sebring International Raceway, and the Highlands Hammock State Park. All in all, it was one of the best and most relaxing vacations that we have ever had, and Don & Nancy were an absolute pleasure to deal with when making the arrangements. We will definitely stay there again!
We, a party of seven adult flag marshals for the 12 Hour Sebring endurance race, spent a week at this quiet, well maintained house on Lake Josephine. The house was exactly as advertised on VRBO. It was clean and well maintained. All appliances were in good condition and functioned well, including the air-conditioning, washer and dryer. Two of us slept in the living room, one on the couch and one on the futon. The remaining five in the bedrooms. I stayed in the only upstairs bedroom, although it took a while to actually find the narrow staircase hidden behind the laundry. One of two bathrooms with a walk-in shower looked like it had been recently renovated and there was plenty of hot water. Bathroom time, with two baths, was a little tight in the morning with seven men all on the same schedule.
Although it was quiet and seemed like we were “off the beaten path” we were very conveniently located near the Sebring circuit, about a 15 minute drive. Likewise, access to all the usual stores and dining was conveniently located on Route 29.
The house was in a very nice location with a small orange grove in the front yard and the back yard fronting on beautiful Lake Josephine. There was adequate parking for all of our vehicles. As flag marshals we were away early and back late so had little opportunity to enjoy the lake. However, I was able to see a large number of bird species surrounding the house and at the lake every morning.
Customer service from the owner Don Arpin and his agent Nancy were excellent. My enquiries were answered promptly by email. Next door neighbor Tim greeted us on arrival and was helpful in getting an item that one of us left in the house back to its owner. Secure Internet access was also provided.
In summary we enjoyed our stay and plan to return next year. I would recommend this house to others. I think that seven is the maximum occupancy for unrelated guests but with queen beds in three of the bedrooms more could be accommodated if they were couples.
Great place as an alternative to the hotels in Sebring. Very easy drive to the track and very quiet for a good nights rest. Nice and clean with plenty of towels. Excellent communication with the owner, and they respond very quickly.
We absolutely loved this vacation home! Very accomodating! The house was very clean. We enjoyed the dock and Fishing the lake. We brought along a raft and pulled the kids on the boat. The view was amazing! Great time had by all! I highly recommend this rental! We will be back next summer! Thanks so much for sharing your home away from home with us!
We absolutely loved the home, the yard was so beautiful and had plenty of room for outside activities. Each room was cozy and had tons of room. What I loved about this home was that it had a home feeling and had plenty of things to accommodate a large family.
One down fall is the lolly pads and weeds near the dock it was a bit much and a little scary, but once you past that the beautiful lake is there to enjoy while sitting in the screen in dock. Overall it was a great stay and would love to do it again.
We stayed there for the week of the 12 Hours of Sebring and enjoyed it very much. The home was very clean and had plenty of room to accommodate 6 people. The beds were very comfortable, the showers were clean, and the air conditioning work great! Since we didn't spend much time there during the day, these were really the only things that mattered...lol. We would definitely stay there again in the future!
